@Enner63 sure go ahead but be warned they are difficult to take care of. I would suggest a leopard gecko, or of you want a little bugger to play with and to hol get a bearded dragon. They make better starter reptiles.
I want one of these but im not sure if i should get one because ive never had a reptile and at my local petsmart it says there "intermediate" pets to take care of. so i was wondering if i should start with this or something else. Thanks!
Also...a forty gallon tank is NOT okay for an adult. My enclosure is about three feet tall, four feet long, and two feet wide and that still isn't big enough. He does okay in it, but I have to take him out frequently because it's not quite enough room anymore.
definitely don't get a water dragon for your first reptile. They're really high maintenance and tend to get sick if you're not experienced at keeping heat and humidity levels right. I would do a lot of research first and get a beardie. I know from experience...I have a water dragon and he was an impulse buy. It took a lot of learning and a few vet visits to keep him as healthy as he is.
@nichannon96 Hey im also a beginner and i've already had 2 chinese water dragons. One i saved from the pet store cause half its tail was gone, and one healthy one. Both of them were very nice lizards to have but both of mine werent very healthy (not from me, the pet store) . I'm getting a bearded dragon soon. A lot of people say that beardies are pretty easy kept, as long as you have the tank set up properly and feed it as needed. I'd say get a bearded dragon, but its your choice.
@awesomegamer21 nay. olny if you abuse them. but when u get them as babbys there usualy very scared and flighty but tame out with age and can become ery calm around you and will even walk up to you if there hungrey like mine does!
I created a site, showmyreptile com, where you can upload pics, videos, start discussions, chat w/ other members, and start groups. Looking for members, would love for you to join. Thanks!
@070erwin Yeah havent you seen them? All the smoke comes out their ears and they spit fire, its really hot but it doesn't last very long, its an amazing experience but you need to piss it of heaps for it to do it.
what kind of a cage do you keep him in? my water dragon is starting to outgrow his old cage, and we are trying to see what kind of cage to get him. he is about 3 years old, and 26 in. long.
@440876 sometimes wrapping somethin around the enlosure will help ur dragon feel more secure...then it will start to eat more often and be less picky...and as it gets older start takin the wrap off more often like a couple times a day so that it can see you and understand what goes on outside and get used to the sounds. i just taped paper together and wrapped it around my enlosure and after 2 weeks Razor (my dragon) started eatin more often and got used to takin crickets right from my hand
im considering one of these. how big do they get? i have an anole. my moms exact words are "If it needs a leash we're so not getting it".....yeah shes not keen on reptiles lol. also were did u get those tweezers? theyre pretty big and they look plastic. i would like that. i only have normal tweezers. u know the small one ppl might use to i dunno pluck eyebrows? o.o'
@NinjaFox97 It depends on the gender. Males can get about three feet long. Females, about two feet. They are impossible to tell the gender of, though, when young, so it's a guess unless you want it probed or something by a vet...All juveniles look female, though.
@lizardman957 errr yh if you reseach before getting it and most reptiles as long as your do your research and get there encoscure setup and make shore its perfect

@Robster2456 He might be tired of them. Do you offer a variety of insects, fruits and veggies? Mine love crickets, red worms, wax worms, meal worms and houseflies. He also loves his squash ans cantaloupe.
if you guys worry that your water dragon(s) is not eating, its not a bad thing. They are trying to figure out whats going on - where they are - and what is the plan next. It will take them some time for them to get used to the new habitats, if they don't eat for like 1 whole day or even 2 its fine, they should start eating when they're too hungry. They will start realizing that they're living with you and will accept things.
@djtiestops3 be careful keeping young dragons together, the males will usually bully the females even if they are not at a sexual mature age, it will take all the females energy away and may end up not growing properly because all its energy is going towards producing eggs
HEY guys i just bought 2 water dragons after doing a lot of research and for some reason they arent eating they do move around and go in the water but pleasE!!!! someone message or comment back on this and tell me ideas to get them to eat thanks!
Your guys are showing signs of new tank syndrome, and until they are much larger like this beautiful guy they arent liable to let you see them eating.
But, new tank syndrome they are usually lethargic and dont eat for a week or so.
Could be many reasons... what are you feeding them? They may not like what is being offered. Try offering something different and see if they respond to that. Wax worms are a real treat for them and I would be shocked if those were refused. Feed them wax worms SPARINGLY. They are high in calcium, but also in fat, and they will get fat very quickly if you feed too many. Also lighting, temperature and humidity are very important. If they don't start eating soon, I would take them to the vet
can waterdragon get along with 2 other bearded dragons? because i already have 2 juvenile bearded dragons and im thinking of getting a water dragon in the same tank (the tank is pretty big) but i dont know if they will try killing each other :/
erm...in the same tank? idk i read that water dragons are pretty aggressive toward other reptiles. I was researching when I got Link(my w.d.) and it said they would kill another lizard....so maybe not..i'm no pro though..lol
@humptybon no, you cant mix the two. (iv worked at a pet supplies plus for 4 years in the animal depot.) the beardies are a dry dessert climate, and only need misted once or twice a week...the water dragons are tropical and need to be kept over 50% humidity and misted once or more a day. along with a deep water bowl for bathing. the beardy shouldnt be too deep or risk drowning
you can pick them up-mine doesn't really like being picked up but i'm sure when they get use to being picked up you can have them rest on your arm and stuff
my brothers the dumb one i never tried to feed his water dragon gummi worms im smarter than that besides being smater than that im smarter than him too plus he has to go to summer school

well i was just curiouse i wasnt worried but i did get worried one time cause skin grew over his nostrals and he had to keep breathing through his mouth and thats not very natural for them i was scared my mom told me he was gunna die hes not really mine hes my dads but gave it to my mom for a present and i take care of him most of the time but i was just curiouse cause she knows lots she had a couple lizards b4 i was born
man i realy want a chinese water dragon, but i need to catch up on how to care 4 them, wait till im old enough to get a job, go to colage b/c my dad would NEVER let me have one, and THEN get one, to bad they dont have wings...

Nice work on the camera, very nice encoding too. Add a water dragon being fed and you've got yourself 5 stars ;)
