  • omg it's a guitar lesson given by Clapton's son o.O

  • To see SRV's techniques slowed down like this REALLY emphasizes how much he gleaned from Albert King. Those fantastic bends!!!! Stevie is one of my guitar heroes, but I can also appreciate those HE learned from... Wolf, Muddy, Albert & Freddie King.... & his brother too. Thanx for the great lesson!

  • what size strings do you use?

  • what size strings do you use?

  • Whats your favorite amp for SRV and Hendrix Tunes?

  • I love this guy!

Been a while since I last watched the vids tho... :)

  • Hey i watch your vids quite alot and have just realised you look like eric clapton :)

  • thank you so much!

i had so much difficulty with this riff!

    god bless you man!

    keep it up!

  • great stuff, im lovin it dude.

  • Good lesson!

  • hey i saw a video from 1995 or 1997 of u on vimeo....

  • HEDO TURKOGLU

  • Could you be kind enough to share what you are running to get that tone? Any chance of doing a vid(s) that really breaks down all the sections of Voodoo Chile? Thx... a customer and fan

  • @cduggerct1 This was recorded a long time ago, so I'm not totally clear on that, but it was probably my Blues Junior, and maybe an EQ pedal for boost.

  • Seriously, all this does is depress me.

  • listen, you sound really close to stevie style, incredible technique..... you are excellent..... thanx for sharing these videos.....

  • Thanks a ton for these video-lessons! I've recently begun learning SRVs version of voodoo chile and your lessons have helped me alot.

  • i been learning a lort from this man .. thanks a lot from mexico !!

  • I cried when stevie was killed and I watched his funeral on tv.

  • How long have you been playing? You can't imagine how grateful I am for these lessons. Thanks!

  • SWEET FANCY MOSES

  • what pickup do you use here?

    bridge, neck?

  • sounds like middle to neck to me

  • I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

  • I love the videos, thanks a lot for putting em out. As a word of advice, I think your playing would benefit greatly from you focusing on keeping your non-fretting fingers closer to the fretboard. Like 1/2 inch instead of the 3-4 inches you have goin on right now. cheers.

  • No offense but I honestly think he's just trying to show everyone where his fingers are at. If you hear his playing at full speed when he's not giving lessons...man. Let's just say he's got his technique down. :)

  • Thank you.

  • any tips on how to get better at this?

  • @iaedean ha I think he's already established his playin style.. and he's not badd

  • I have the same sandals!!!!

great lesson, I love these kinda riffs, but this ones gonna take me a while, I use 11 guage strings and its kinda hard to bend the G string like you do on the start of the couple riffs, Im only 16, so my hards arent really that strong!

    THANKS!

  • play throught the pain. you will get stronger.

  • That was spot on and excellent. It will take awhile to digest but that's an excellent lesson, keep it up!

  • ya really nailed all the little nuances of his lick. he probly didnt know he was gonna play this 5 seconds before he recorded it. to replicate someone's riffs is one thing, but to replicate an improvised riff that was probably never played again is quite another. and i never leave comments ever. Nice work bro.

  • Actually, he played those licks quite often but that doesn't change the fact that A) Anthony nailed it and B) I'm quite thankful for it :)

  • good job dude. u really nailed it i bet if you played this for stevie even he wouldnt be able to play it like that. im sure he did it on couldnt stand the weather but it was probly some random improv thing he did. you really recreated the contexting that probably would have been lost if somebody didnt break it down and put their own spin on it.

  • can you make a vid or a podcast on the guitars you have

  • i like your shoes!

  • In the words of Howling Wolf "I am built for comfort, I ain't built for speed", hence the sandal shoes. They weren't supposed to show up in the video, but oh well :)

  • Hah....ADILETTEN!!

  • using all your voodoo child lessons to nail this song and its helping me a lot. thanx man

  • O.o

  • I have no idea what this means, but I'm going to assume that it means "holy crap, that's the most awesome lesson ever in the history of the world.".

  • lol .... the lesson was great .... just my playing isn.t that great xD .... but i think i can get there ....

nice lesson like i said ....

  • For this lesson I think it was my Blues Junior, and that was a Don Grosh Retro Classic.

  • I'm wearing the same shirt you are haha.

Nice job man I've been tryin to learn this song and this has helped me a lot. Keep the vids coming please!

  • I'll need that shirt back for my Gig on Saturday....

  • Crazy awesome sounding riff. I need some work to get it down though. Really helpful lesson! Thanks!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome lesson! Thank you very much. I noticed at 356 you said 4th fret on the B string, but fretted the 3rd fret. Nice to know you're human! Rock on! Can you direct me to where I can find a lesson on where Stevie starts singing in Voodoo Chile? Is it on your site? Thanks!

  • Not only am I human, I'm an out of shape, sloppy playing, untrained guitarist who for some reason gets the privilege of showing people what little bit of guitar playing I know :)

I don't have too many lessons on this song because I found out after I started that it's illegal to teach songs without a license :(

  • Also if you aren't claiming the lick or whatever to be from any specific song? The unnamed lick might just happen to sound a lot like something SRV played in of his songs, if you get where I'm going

  • well then they need to give u a license asap!

  • Thank you so much for this lesson. I was trying to learn this riff with just a book and the song playing and I could not figure out how to do it. Thanks to you I'm doing pretty good with it so far. Keep rockin' man and thanks again.

  • awesome man. tottaly awesome

  • such good instructionals, i wonder why there arent more views..

  • All of my vids have been up for less than 5 months, so I still don't have the same amount of subscribers as people who have been on here for a year or two. I'm also teaching a pretty narrow group of guitarists so there's not quite as much draw as someone who's teaching more general stuff.

  • dude, you're totally right... there aren't as many guys interested in this kind of stuff... 's a darn shame...

  • It's great material you're producing here. It's a shame that most guitarists still appear to be more interested in 'shredding'!

(Not that I'm deriding anyone who is, it's just a bit tiresome after a while!!)

People should be encouraged to feel what they are playing

  • Do you have DVD's available? This would kick ass on my flatscreen LCD. Thanks for the lessons.

  • Not yet, but I sell longer HD videos in quicktime format at StevieSnacks (dot) com.

  • nice lesson there !! great tone as well! are you using a super reverb in this? any od pedals?

  • Take a look at my Fender Blues Junior Gear Demos over at StevieSnacks(dot)com to see my typical setup.

  • great vid but it goes from riff 5 to riff 7. lol.

  • I wish I was as good at counting as I was at playing guitar...hehe

  • well it's the same riff he used on texas flood i think its just the position or maybe the key that changed

  • The elements of this riff are used over and over in different SRV riffs, learning a riff like this teaches you at least 5 or 6 reusable mini-riffs to use in other keys.

  • Hey, great vid! Pretty easy to follow as well but I was wondering if you a tabbed version of this? If so please let me know! Again great vid!

  • Workin on it, watch for it on the site when the lesson goes up in the store.

  • Alright, awesome! I tried tabbin it out from watchin the video but its still kinda sketchy. Never realized how fast that part is actually played...phew!

  • Great lessons. Excellent job on SRV's style. Best I've seen.

  • Thanks for doing these lessons! They have helped me inmprove tremendously. You're a great teacher. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

  • Learning this riff really helped me learn SRV's scuttle buttin also.

  • Your lessons are great. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

  • I'm not sure of the specs on that neck. The guitar is a Don Grosh Retro-S. The fretboard is brazilian rosewood which contributes to the bright tone. I just had it refretted too.

  • wow nice man! what neck is that

  • Love your vids. That is by far one of my favorite stevie riffs and always wanted to learn it. Thanks so much. Keep um comin

  • YOU ROCK MAN! ! ! !

thx so much for this lesson it is very usefull, I've been trying to find out this riff for long time but couldnt get the right notes because it is VERY fast, now I can learn it, grazie! :D
