Thanks for posting this clip i only remember seeing it once before Brilliant .Tony Jackson was a great singer .Whe n i saw them in 63 on one of those one nigher tours the were top of the bill and from then on have been one of my favourite Scouse band much more earthier than tha Beatles . This fantastic B- side has NEVER been available in 'stereo' on any CD by the Searchers. However... It was on a 60s marble arch vinyl L.P. which i have, & a friend is remastering it through his PC, & will burn it off (along with an extremely rare stereo mix of "Needles & pins" found only on a 'HALLMARK' vinyl album comp of the same name.

I've heard this song for years. It's the b-side to needles and pins. You can get it on 'The Pye Anthology 1963-1967'

It's on the 40th Anniversary Compilation and  was the B side of Needles and Pins. A little treasure which was not on that compilation is a song called Till I Met You, an acoustic ballad. It's posted on Youtube - click around. Needles and Pins was the first record I bought ..odd cos I didn't have a record player. Shared the cost with a friend who did.

The drunk at the beginning is the late Nigel Green who played a strong part in Zulu, + Ipcress File both w Michael Caine, and a Fu Man Chu film.

@tauroscorp Isn't it a great song tauro? I remember growing up in the 60s and the Searchers were (and still are) one of my favorite groups. I remember at that time I even thought they were better than The Beatles. I was wrong of course, but still I couldn't deny that this group was GREAT. If I'm not mistaken, this song WAS on one of their albums. I think it was the ORIGINAL Meet The Searchers. Love their music!!! Thanks for posting.

@kismet818 Thx for answering. Yes, it's a great tune but no, it's not on Meet The Searchers, once it was my favorite album. I got it when I was 16 years old in the early 90's. So I haven't grown up in the 60's but I always wanted be a youngster in the early 60's. That period was fab, by 1963 you had all the great music beginning from the 50's. And yes, Searchers was once more my favorite than The Beatles but then I discovered the early days of the Fab Four.

@tauroscorp Don't know if you know it but the Meet The Searchers album that came out in the 80s isn't the same one as the ORIGINAL one that was released back in the 60s. That was when I first heard Saturday Night Out. That's why I said it must have been on the ORIGINAL album . I know because I bought it.

@kismet818 And nowadays I have gotta known the production of Joe Meek, great music! Sure I knew Telstar from Tornados but didn't have a clue about Joe Meek. As I said I haven't grown up in the 60's but I sure I'm interested in t hat period (and especially 1956-1963/64), listening music of that time and styling my hair with the original wax like elvis/teddy-style. =) And it was great that Searchers didn't adopt right away the moptop, they got the hair neat. =)

@kismet818 And if you think that Searchers are better than the Fab Four then you have the right to think so. Sure I like The Beatles but it's a bit like a holy cow that ''it has to be'' the best. I like The Beatles before beatlemania with Pete Best on drums, that was the most interesting period of them. They were original and they created their own sound, it was almost like punk but 15 years earlier.

@tauroscorp I loved The Searchers back in the day and THOUGHT they were better than The Fab Four but I soon realized that while The Searchers were very good, The Fab Four are and always will be the GREATEST musical act in history, in my opinion.
