This is so much fun! Thanks for posting. It seems like there is genuine warmth between Cher & the Osmonds. It's Cher's show, so the Osmonds don't try to overpower her, they are respectful and perform like her back-up group. And wow, they all DO seem to be singing live -- imagine today's pop stars trying that!
As for the costumes -- hideous, LOL. But all pop stars in the 70s wore those god-awful jumpsuits. And really, this is no cheesier than "Dancing With the Stars" or "American Idol."

I was only about 2 years old when the Osmonds were on, but I do remember catching reruns later and I totally adore the Osmonds and Cher. Where has the greatest music gone. I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder and others of that era and etc. Music isn't like it was back then.
@osmondluva I'm pretty sure it was 1975. This was Cher's own variety show after she and Sonny had divorced, and before they ultimately reunited professionally. According to Internet Movie Database, that pegs it as being in 1975. There's a slight chance it could be the Cher Special in 1978, but I don't think so.
If you consider the choreography of all the groups of the 60-70's no one can hold a candle to all those groups. Watch videos of the Temps, the Pips or the J5..shows were truely an compositional art!

It's funny that you say that bc the US is not the only place where they have fans. I mean Mike sold out 50 concerts in England, he couldn't do that in the US. Tito actually performed a blues concert a few months ago in England in a stadium and actually got a standing ovation. and they place was almost sold out. These were the Boyz From the Utah 'Hood, who overcame many obstacles to achieve fame. They grew up on the mean streets of Provo, and if it weren't for Andy Williams, they'd probably still be answering to The Man.
Curious as to why they are singing Stevie and wondering if he was going to make an appearance. I actually like this--and I am a big Jacksons fan. I love the Osmond harmony--they are good singers and I refuse to compare them to the Jackson 5.
As for the dance moves, it's not secret that Cher was quite shy. She didn't think much of her voice or her talents in those days. She would ask the "big name" groups like the Osmonds and the Jacksons to take it easy ,so she could stay with them. She was much different than her stage presence indicates.
Why can't you just enjoy them for their own talent instead of comparing them to the jacksons? Yeah, jacksons were probably better dancers, but these guys can sing without music and never hit a wrong note. I've heard them and they are fantastic. But I can enjoy both groups.

look I know the osmonds are great and very talented, but think about it if you ask people these days "hey do you know the osmonds" and then ask them "hey do you know the Jacksons" they are more likely to say oh yea are the Jacksons the group Michael Jackson used to be in or they would say who the fuck are the osmonds, In my opinion the Jacksons are much better, much more talented and beautiful than the osmonds x

I was only about 2 years old when the Osmonds were on, but I do remember catching reruns later and I totally adore the Osmonds and Cher. Where has the greatest music gone. I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder and others of that era and etc. Music isn't like it was back then.

@osmondluva I'm pretty sure it was 1975. This was Cher's own variety show after she and Sonny had divorced, and before they ultimately reunited professionally. According to Internet Movie Database, that pegs it as being in 1975. There's a slight chance it could be the Cher Special in 1978, but I don't think so.

If you consider the choreography of all the groups of the 60-70's no one can hold a candle to all those groups. Watch videos of the Temps, the Pips or the J5..shows were truely an compositional art!

What's all this Osmonds /Jacksons stuff........2 different groups .Both great talents .One had Michael ,one had Donny .Michael obviously a bigger talent .One thing to notice though ,watch how good a dancer Jay is ...if the Osmonds didn't have him doing the moves they would have probably not been as big !!!!!!!!!!!!!.......Watch him in this agin & watch the others follow!

I think people need to let it rest about the Osmonds and Jacksons. Both are extremely talented families. It is hardly fair to either to compare. They have much in common and many differences.

I am so glad You Tube exists, so that I can enjoy watching these really fun days of performers who actually sing and choreograph the songs in really nice fun creative ways, unlike all of today's egotistical screaming, squealing, howling and screetching, choking and whining. The Jacksons were great and so were the Osmonds.

You are still missing the point. Tell me how good the "Jackson 4" are without Michael Jackson. They are nothing, but a bunch of "hanger-ons." I offer no criticism of MJ as an entertainer -- he was one of the best, but his older brothers are "never beens." You cannot objectively say that about the Osmonds who have been performing as individuals and groups for more than 50 years. And, none of them are "druggies" or "adulterers." So, get a reality check. It's funny that you say that bc the US is not the only place where they have fans. I mean Mike sold out 50 concerts in England, he couldn't do that in the US. Tito actually performed a blues concert a few months ago in England in a stadium and actually got a standing ovation. and they place was almost sold out. I never heard of the Osmonds until I heard the song One Bad Apple and thought Donnie was Michael. And even donnie said the record company purposely copied the Jacksons sound.

As for the dance moves, it's not secret that Cher was quite shy. She didn't think much of her voice or her talents in those days. She would ask the "big name" groups like the Osmonds and the Jacksons to take it easy ,so she could stay with them. She was much different than her stage presence indicates.

Why can't you just enjoy them for their own talent instead of comparing them to the jacksons? Yeah, jacksons were probably better dancers, but these guys can sing without music and never hit a wrong note. I've heard them and they are fantastic. But I can enjoy both groups.
