NOW ROB TYNER, THE MC5 ORIGINAL LEAD SINGER AND CO FOUNDER DIED ON SEPT 17, 1991. THEY BOTH DIED ON THE "17TH". THERE MUST BE SOME ROCK N ROLL PUNK SOUL-CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE TWO LEGENDS OF AMERICAN MUSIC CULTURE. FRED SONIC SMITH , GOD BLESS YOU TOO. AT LEAST WAYNE KRAMER AND DENNINS THOMPSON STILL ALIVE. • How are nine people opposed to kicking out the jams, motherfucker?

  • MC5 = Motor City 5 .. studio version woulda sucked compared to live.. nuff said

  • :)

  • FUCK YOU ALL HATERS , I WANT TO KICK YOU OUT!!!! :()

  • @jetrage69

The distortion is greta and on studio there would not be so much energy!

  • @jetrage69 Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad. (unless you are being sarcastic, which is certainly possible)

  • @jetrage69 Bitch please.

  • @jetrage69 wasn't it ever done in the studio??

  • @jetrage69 obvious trollisobvious

  • @jetrage69

There is a sort of studio version of the song its off their Thunder Express album... theres no distortion but still alot of energy, the thing is its only like a minute long

  • @jetrage69 Well, at least you have 'Back in the USA'...

Just compare the relatively tame version of 'Looking at You' from that 1970 album and the original "A-Square" single version from 1968. This single was perhaps one of the most exciting studio performances they ever recorded. If you like feedback and microphone leakage, that is...

The single version is on 'Babes in Arms', 'The Big Bang', 'Thunder Express' and 'A-Square (Of Course): The Story of Michigan's Legendary A-Square Records'.

  • @jetrage69 you're obviously not into rock n roll if you're not down for distortion bro.

  • @jetrage69 uh, the song wouldn't be what it is without the distortion. If it's too loud your too old.

  • Comment removed

  • @jetrage69 you'd be fucking up a masterpiece.....it dont need your help.

  • @jetrage69 This is a clean version!

  • 9 people cant kick hard enough to get the Jams Out.

  • THE SWAGGER in this song!

  • LOVE the song, HATE the dumbass crap the band stood for at the time.

  • @MkDragan1 what did they stand for at the time? UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA

  • @MkDragan1 to my knowledge, they stood for revolution, dope and free sex. what part of that is "dumbass crap"?

  • @wallofvideo The first for SURE is dumbass crap, the second mostly so [with the possible exception of weed], and the last one...um, never mind the last one...;-}

  • @MkDragan1 would you say you lean more towards the sentiments expressed in merle haggard's song "okie from muskogee"? it's from the mc5 era, but it's anti-revolution, anti-dope, anti-free sex.

  • @wallofvideo That comment made me laugh out loud, because when Haggard conceived that song the band bus was driving through Muskogee and they were all smoking good bud and were high as kites [true story!]

  • @MkDragan1 far out! that's the first time i ever heard that! so merle & the strangers were being ironic when they sang "we don't smoke marijuana in muskogee"?

  • Kick out the fuck, motherjammers!

  • love this song

  • @ildiko244 waz up

  • Kick out the adverts... mother fuckers

  • EMCEE (MOTHA FUCKIN) FIVE

  • Just read an article citing the beatles Helter Skelter as the heaviest song for it's time. MC5 says fuck you, Beatles.

  • @sonicwingnut This is great...just heard about this tonight...but helter skelter is miles ahead of this...

  • @sonicwingnut

Technically, this song was released almost a full year after the Beatles released "Helter Skelter." However, Blue Cheer released Vincebus Eruptum quite a few months before that. Then, after it all, came the Stooges. Let's just call that time frame of about 5 years the most innovative, heaviest period in musical history. And, God Bless Detroit.

  • @mussman717word ha yeah, although listening to Anaal Nakrath I'll reserve judgement on the 'heaviest' tag, yeah it's all heavy for the time, but it's nothing compared to the jump in heaviness that happened in the 80s when death metal and hardcore turned up. Although yeah that owes a fair bit to those guys, just check out Entombed's cover of this song.

  • @sonicwingnut

There's a difference between "heavy" and "hard," to me. Different people use different words, but I think you understand my point.

  • @mussman717word

Also, I'd argue that The Stooges could be just as loud and crass as anything in the '80s (even though I love some of that era's underground output). The difference was in the tight-psych-blues structure.

  • @mussman717word I agree. When I watch Metal Evolution, I am reminded again about how much I love hard rock and punk, but I hate Metal! What are you gonna do?

  • Michigan the true birthplace of Punk Rock.

  • the first punk band?

  • Kick out the Jam Motherfuckers hahah Love it :D

  • This is very unclear.

  • @ishani859 Bullshit.

  • This song made Motherfuckers!

  • but that also means that M=E/(C5)....when clearly M is equal to Mach Number which is V/a, and a is equal to root(gamma*R*t) So this means that MC5 is Supersonic?

  • @SamHaberberger11 MC5 stands for "Motor City 5."

  • @AssassinJ2

    Yeah

  • @SamHaberberger11 fuck you

  • @slimshadyrealrealrea He said that in a good way...

  • @SamHaberberger11 Nobody's gonna deny that!

  • @SamHaberberger11 Physical proof that rock and roll is unstoppable.

  • E=MC5 bitch!

  • @aloopyneutron2

    pmsl

  • 5 people are motherfuckers

  • My Dad said Detroit was a crazy place to grow up in in the late 60s and 70s... he said it was dangerous, but sort of "dangerous-cool" where u didn't know if you were going to go out that night and party and fuck some chics or get in a bar room brawl or take some acid and end up walking the railroad tracks til morning. Thank God him and my mom saved up enough money so I could grow up in the suburbs of Detroit, but it's still fun to go downtown and party

  • D=MC5

  • ahhhh KICK EM OUT!

  • what the hell is proto punk? All I hear is a hard rock rock that preceded Led Zeppelin and it didn't rip off American blues like those did.

  • The Stooges were all well and good but these guys were the real kings of proto-punk

  • @TheAxeMixa yeah right.this is a great song but no fun kicks way more ass!

  • The awkward moment when your 100watt amp doesn't turn up loud enough.

  • Truest fucking statement EVER

  • BASS !

  • kick out the jams !motherfuckers !yessss......iiiiiiiiiiii i

  • I wanna trash a hotel room when I listen to this

  • And so, Punk was conceived, out of Psychedelic Rock oddly enough.

  • @clonecomanderfox In REACTION to psychedelic rock! Syd Beret this is NOT!

  • Detroit rock in a nutshell.

  • take out the trash motherfuckers!!!!

  • I don't really understand why this song rocks so much. Please don't hate me, I think it's better than most crap from nowadays, think it's just a bit overrated or something

  • @Artokaas This song was off the charts back in 1968. Starting a song with "motherf--kers"? Musically they were mediocre, but 5 gave us a helluva charge in Detroit back in the day.

  • i might be wrong, but - although the album was released in 69 - wasn't it recorded in 68?

  • @somreklam1 who gives a fuckin shit

  • These guys rule.!!!

  • Fuck Rage againts the machine man or however u spell their dumb name >:(

  • @DrugWhore1 Dude, Rage Against The Machine was a damn good band. Not the MC5 of course, but still...

  • is there any proper studio version of this song?

  • @LoadedBunnyPros No there isn't, actually the best version found in youtube is the one made by rage againste the machine.

  • October 30, 1968.

    1968.

  • Showing my age...still fresh years on!

  • the white panthers mother fuckers

  • the white panters

  • this dude had the baddest fuckin' afro of any white dude ever

  • When your lead singer has a 'fro and starts the show by yelling "Kick out the Jams, mother****ers!" you better get on your feet because you know shit is about to get real.

  • admittedley i only know this song because of rage against the machine covering it, but i prefer this way better

  • strange, i think on my lp he cries "kick out the jams, brothers and sisters!" , not motherfuckers. have they censored it?? O_o

  • @cyberfish111

    Yes:(

  • @cyberfish111 I think the studio version was censored. obviously the live one was not.

  • @cyberfish111

Having spent my teen years growing up on the MC-5 and actually getting to know them, yes...the album was censored.

The initial production run actually contained "Mother Fuckers" but only a few hundred were sold...if you ever find one you have something quite rare.

They actually played at a Catholic School dance one night and it was so funny seeing the Nuns when they took the stage...they did clean it up for this one....."brothers and sisters"

  • Comment removed

  • @cyberfish111 The LP track was censored way back when it was released in 1969, unfortunately...

It caused a *BIG* controversy at the time, and led to the band being dropped from Elektra!

The whole story is at Wikipedia's page for "Kick Out The Jams"

  • @cyberfish111 I think they are different versions, not censored.

  • @cyberfish111 Yeah on mine is Mother Fuckers, it's a first pressing. They redid them and made a censored version soon after, but still made a uncensored version witch you had tobe 18 at the time to buy in some states

  • @cyberfish111 i remember in a documentary about punk i saw yeeears ago they were talking about how back then it was so obscene to use any curse words on recordings.way different than today.

  • @cyberfish111 you may have an original:) twas censored

  • @cyberfish111

The Hudsons department stores in Detroit said they wouldn't carry the album if it contained the unedited version. Rob Tyner went into Terashirma studios in Detroit to cut the cleaned up version of the intro which you have. There were 2 versions out, one with and one without.

  • @cyberfish111 In fact, Electra records dismissed them after this record was released for that reason

  • man i wished i lifed in this time, fuck you lady gaga and fuck you justin bieber!

  • Best intro ever!!!!!!!!!

  • how could anyone dislike this song, let alone anything that MC5 sings... i just don't understand.
