  • I purchased this camera one year ago. the camera this year died. Here are my impressions on this short lived camera:

Pros: Good image quality, Adequate flash, Portability

Cons: Did not survive underwater, Subjects looked rather severe with flash, holding the camera was not very easy because of its size/shape The battery/SD card compartment was not water tight. It allolwed seawater to enter as soon as the camera entered the water.

  • thats not the f10 u retard

  • its 10m water depth and 2 mertres shock proof...

  • its a dance party at 6:50!!!!

  • really nice review. really peaceful and informative. until 6:50, of course.

  • @joebeeton

    Hehe :-P

  • Great Cam I recommend it any day.

  • Don't buy this cam...some internal parts of mine are oxidized...after 6 month of carefull use...Panasonic doesn't want to change this parts and said that IS NORMAL...yea rigth, very "NORMAL" (and reliable) have a waterproof camera with internal parts oxidized!!!!! I´m very disappointed with Panasonic, Lumix brand and costumer service!

  • is there zooom in video?

  • @ImperfectPatsy yep :) oh and i got this camera for my bday, so if you want to check out my newest videos the camera i use the dmc-ft1

    :)

  • hey guys! so ive been commenting this video regularly! and i finally got the camera! it's brilliant :)

  • how do you use the panorama function?

  • ((( I HAVE one FT1 !!!... My OPINION about FT1 Is Really A GREAT small CAMERA and VIDEO HD ...I'm REALLY VERY HAPPY !!! always with me on my pocket ! I do some small video TEST You Can see on my Page ! watch !

  • oh my goodness! look at 5:13, the camera and the actual box! woah it has a really big lens!!

  • OMFG WHAT THE FUCKING BAGJESUS!

I didn't realise that it made that huge box so tiny.

    Perfect!

  • hi how many mins hd video recording one full battery??

  • i was just reading up about that, but all i could find was that running on one battery, you can take up to 340 pictures x

  • which is better Panasonic LUMIX TS1/FT1 vs olympus mju tough 8000

  • olympus had 11 different models, and i think they have perfected it, i have the 6000 myself, and i love it. lumix is O.K. but really isnt all that.

    -TAC

  • is olympus waterproof?

  • u an argue they both have ups and downs

  • @mamaspolo it depends if you want HD video recording or not, which is one of the features of the Panasonic Lumix Ft1.

However, the Olympus is up to 10m waterproof and shockproof to 3 m, which is greater than the Panasonic Lumix which can only go up to 3 m waterproof and 1.5 m shockproof.

For my birthday Im receiving a Panasonic Lumix Ft1, which I'm very excited about!! Because it is the only compact camera to have AVCHD recording :)

so it depends on what you prefer, hope that helped x

  • What the hell is with the music at 6:50? I cant even hear what he is saying!

  • crack up tho! made me laugh when it so randomly kicked in!!

  • this camera is cool~i hope i can get myself one

  • Also can you put in in a BUBBLE bath

  • Can you use it in snow or is there a certain temperature it cant go below

  • the cam had a ski mode i think you can use it in snow i want to know that with the temparature too

  • does this camera work with Mac?

  • yeh works fine with my macbook

  • rofl "is reminicent or reinforced armor"

  • The crap thing is that when recording in AVCHD mode, you're limited to only 15 minutes. Panasonic did this because recording more than 15 mins would mean the camera would be classed as a camcorder which in turn levies more taxes.

  • I really doubt that is why. It's probably because a 15 min HD video file is so big that it has trouble handling anything larger on a memory card - as opposed to tape, which is practically endless.

  • It may have something to do with heat tolerances, or other considerations. The early DSLRs with HD video overheat if you record with them too long.

They may also wish to not have the camera compete *too* well with their camcorder lines.

  • That is for the non-North American version isn't it???

  • No I think it is for all versions. It has nothing to do with overheating or memory card sizes since SDHC cards now go right up to 32GB. It is indeed a fact that if a camera records more than 15 mins of HD video it's classified as having camcorder functionalities and thus levies more taxes.

  • i love your review on cameras it is the most informative review ive read or seen all day n ive been searching cameras online for 10 hours, almost all day. n this is the one review that answered all my questions. kudos!!

  • lol why did u put the background music on full @ 6:52 ? LOL

  • LOL.

    :]]

  • I just got this camera, dealing with trying to edit the AVCHD files is a problem with a Mac. It's not mac friendly.

  • I have an aluminum intel macbook and am thinking of buying this camera. Have you found any programs for mac that accept the hd movie files for editing?

  • whats the intro?

  • Uploading to youtube is a problem youtube doesnt accept m2ts files.

  • It does, you dont even need to convert the video just upload it to Youtube!

  • I can't seem to figure out how to upload the HD video to YouTube either!

  • pode ser muito boa...mas essa cor eu não gosto e acredito (aliás tenho certeza) que uma H10 da Sony trabalhe muito melhor...

  • So can it take pictures in true 16.9 or are they cropped?

  • you may choose on the camera

  • does it have a shutter

how many frames per second is the HD in and is it in 16:9???

  • yes 30fps and yes

  • a waterproof and shockproof portable digital camera that has leica lens?? what else could you ask for? panasonic+leica=resolution to burn.

  • you could ask for a kick-ass orange body, direct HDMI connection, fast start-up, and HD movies. and maybe, autofocus TRACKING, large LCD, a manual LED.

and while you're at it you could ask for a quick record button, 4.6x optical zoom while recording movies, and a WIDE-angle lens.

OHHHH WAIT. it's got all that.

OH WAIT it;s got it. A+ for panasonic and A STEAL at $400.

  • Wow AVCHD HD movie recording on a digital camera!
