What great tempo, continuity and storytelling - from beginning to end. Great underlying messages. One reason why it's so powerful is that UA (Fallon) gives their viewers credit for have a little intelligence.Best commercial I have ever seen. Barely a word spoken.
They don't show this anymore because it's pointless. From the comments on here people are thinking it's implied that United invented the lightbulb, or something. I geuss it was too deep for us Americans to understand.
All you guys are pretending to 'know' or 'not know' Gerswhin's music up here but do you guys know the animator? We have seen this drawing style for years....in those 'Cottonell' comercials. With those bears in the woods with the bathroom tissue. This lady animator is Joanna Quinn....check out her short cartoon..."Ladies night out"....LOL
Why don't they air these commericals anymore? I never understood that. They will go and sink a couple more million into new ads that don't even stand up to this one. why?
One of my favorites. Such intimacy & expression through such simplistic animation. I detect flavors of Charles M. Schultz, Norman Rockwell and Mr. Rogers. Though I know the music to be Gershwin, I can't put my finger on it - what to call the whole theme/style they're shooting for? "Impressionistic"? "Contemporary"?
I fly a lot of foreign carriers, but when it comes to travel within the states, United takes the cake. I love flying with them and I don't think my feelings will change anytime soon.

Does anyone know if I can get the Midi for this particular video? I like this version of Rhapsody in blue better than the others.

AWESOME song! George Gerswhin's "Rhapsody In Blue". Recognize the voice? It's Robert Redford. Always did like the sound of his voice...

"Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin. It's been used continuously in United Airlines ads since 1987/88.
