gotta love Russian small arms tech, US guns are usually inferior. I hear the AN94 is a little complicated compared to the AK obviously. they even developed 9x19mm rounds that can punch through standard ceramic armor at close range.

If i had to choose an assault rifle, it would either be a AK74 or a G36 personally.

AK-47 goes bang every time but can't hit shit past 200 meters. Besides it's a pesants' weapon. Designed for simple peoples to operate. The safety selector is in a bad spot for fast transition from safe to semi, having to pass automatic, in order to aquire and shoot the rifle. Automatic mode is for immediate suppression. Don't believe the hype and go to the range shoot them both then add yout two cents guys.

accuracy and the like is improved with the AK74. the russian military no longer use the AK47, it was surpassed by the AKM and now the AK74 (as the name implies, it was introduced in 1974)

the idea of the selector having semi auto at the bottom is that if semi was in the middle (where auto is) it would be too easy to slip past semi and into auto while leaving safe. much easier to just pull the selector quickly down until it stops (on semi-auto) then click up a notch if automatic fire is needed.
