  • yogurt is turkish.

  • tzatziki is turkish -_-

  • @iSlash96 ....Aha and so is Feta cheese,Kalamata olives,Ouzo,The acropolis, Alexander the great,Zeus,Democracy they are all TurkishPlease no more of these kind of jokes, there not funny any more and they never were to begin with.

  • @TheWheelofLife100 How can tzatziki be greek when yoghurt is a turkish invention, invented in central asia by turkic people, waaaaay before they came to anatolia. when we turks ate yoghurt products, greeks didnt even know what it was, its a fact, look it up on wikipedia or whatever. we dont need Zeus nor Alexander the great, we had Ottoman Bey, Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Ataturk. and i was talking about a yoghurt based foodkind, what had all these other things to do with tzatziki?

  • @iSlash96 ... Tzatziki is Greek,not Turkish,end of story!

  • @TheWheelofLife100 You're just saying what you want to believe

  • @iSlash96 we dont know if yoghurt is greek or turkish we dont care im a greek and i enjoy it also i enjoy kebab wich is turkish we have the same food with the turks bcs they were 400 years in greece so we traded stuff and recipes :D

  • @iSlash96 and democracy man its not turkish its greek :D and neither Alexander the great is turkish he is macedonianand feta is greek i dont know about cheese and ouzo i think its a mix of turkish and greek tradition bcs mytilini or Lesbos where ouzo is produced is near turkey :P no hatred

  • @riper5704 yoghurt is turkish, it was made by turkic people, before they entered anatolia. alexander, democracy, ouzo maybe turkish, but tzatziki, baklava are turkish.

and, byzantines had democracy, but not as much as the ottomans.

  • @iSlash96 byzantines where greeks :D and romans

  • @riper5704 i know, was i saying they were not? i was saying that greeks may have invented the democry thing, but didnt have it as much as the ottomans, where people actually did have humar rights.

  • I LOVE YOUR COOKING~~~~ you make some great Greek foods...I am from the US and will be going to Greece/ Crete this coming spring cannot wait!!

  • lol i am greek... why did i watch this? :P

  • @ThePortakalos Ok you feel better about yourself now?

  • the greatest dip ever

  • Greeks were a lot of time under turkish empire so they were very influenced in many things by the turkish culture and at the end greece and turkey share sometimes the exact same things such as food(kebab, baklavas ,coffee, tzatziki).

  • greeks have stolen their food from the turks... if they didn't have turkish dishes they would starve

  • @erdal0 hahaha n1

  • @Thanos1KRKS Baklava=Greek Kebab=turkish.

  • Also vineger needed....

  • oh my god! she forgot the vinegar. one or two teaspoons of vinegar too. it adds a delicious taste.

  • @pitoufita I don't always put vinegar. Greek yogurt is sour enough. But vinegar is a common addition. D

  • @GreekFoodTV When my grandma makes she uses a special thing to i think smash up the garlic do you know what its called?

  • @ItZzTaZ if you are greek its called poltopoios if you are from another country i dont know how to tell it to you.

  • @ariabm44 Ok thank you

  • Could I add some shredded mint leaves to this?

  • how to make greek yogurt at home?

  • Tzatziki is turkish. As moussaka. At least this was told to me by a greek.

  • on which planet greeks had a nomadic life and invented yogurt:)) thats turkish mongolian obviously:))

  • @kelRapunzel tzatziki is greek! ALL THE WORLD KNOWS THAT! the fact that turks eat what ever greeks eat doent mean that these foods are turkish!! its know all over the world that greek food is the healthiest! especialy from crete!

  • @ThanosThess91 lol..

  • It's great over chicken dishes.

  • You can also use Garlic-powder in case you have any diggestion or gastritis issue. The olive oil smoothens the 'sharpness' of garlic anyway, plus the dill (anithos) helps a lot. We also add vinegar, that sweetens tzatziki a little bit. For the record: the recipe is described as an almost ancient one. Aristophanes speaks about garlic and there are info about the extended ancient Greek use of yogurt.

  • @megaalpertunga

    you're really funny!!!

Gyros, pastitsio etc are also turkish ???

  • @megaalpertunga

Cacik is very similar to Tzatziki, but it is more diluted

and the big difference is that Turks add mint leaves and lime juice to it

  • Nice Videos!!

  • What a wonderful resource. Thank you so much! Tzatziki also goes well with fried sardines/smelts. I like to squeeze a some lemon into the final product before I dip. You're better than any cook book I've read!

I'm gonna watch them all! Thanks again.

  • my mom is german and she wicked good Tzatziki I called her today and she gave me a whole differny recipe then this....I'll let you know how it turns out

  • I hang the yougart before i use it to get out extra moister, also i guess the the greek yougart here is not like it is in greece ^^

  • So this the kind of things Kratos, Leonidas, Cassandra, Sophitia be eating.

  • She forgot to mention that the seeds of the cucumber must be removed before grate it

  • @WordsOfWisdom88 Stop fighting, we all know that those dishes were created by the argentinian master Diegus Maradonas in 10.000 BC

  • Tsatziki is the only time Greeks don't peel the cucumber! NO DILL - yuk!

  • Create your favorite dishes from your favorite restaurants...Chili's, Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse...all from home! - youtube.com/watch?v=6ktnVmKZXOo

  • greek food is very high in fat. its nice but i think the japanese would consider it very fatty

  • measurments would have been helpful, but will wing it, looks awesome

  • can someone tell me what you would dip in this? or what you could spread it on? thankyou!

  • @DCassidine Pita bread or in a souvlaki sandwhich. It's super yummy

  • @DCassidine try apple pie

  • I COULD LIVE OFF OF THIS! I was just in greece and they make it sooooo o good

  • if you people want to argue then lets settle it in the kitchen.

  • This is great! Thank you!

  • Indian culture has been dated to the end of the last ice age (8000 BC); and when I say culture I mean even Yoga which is above and beyond most of what we call culture in the world today, given that it is all about enlightement of the the inner mind/soul/levels of conciousness etc. (whatever u wanna call it) as opposed to physical art or science. India>Greece. Greek food is nice tho ;)

  • sounds great. I want to try this.

  • @WordsOfWisdom88 it is GREEK as everything that YOU stole and u wish it was yours

  • @Lola81gr Stupid. It didnt belong to any nationality. Turks, Bulgarians, Iranians know that Food too.

Why are you greeks so ignorants? Ridiculous..

  • @Turkomania2023 all these nations know these recipes through the wars and the spread of culture during Alexander the Great era...there are ppl who have the exact same greek cuisine and think they are of greek origin somewhere in Afghanistan..it's a fact, you can check it anywhere....because everybody knows it, it doesn't mean it's their own creation. But anyway fighting over food is stupid..so we'd better enjoy it and have a good time :)

  • @rigasjennifer Alexander the Great coulndt conquer the Georgian regions in caucasus, now tell me, why they know this food there too? Stop with that. It doesnt belong to the Macedonians. And between of this, the people with Macedonian blood are not "somewhere in Afganistan", they live in Kalash valley in Pakistan.

  • You stupid people arguing about food origins have to realize that whatever country you're from in that area of the world, you are all mediterranean people. You're all the same frigging people/race/whatever, divided up by stupid stuff such as religion, politics, war, etc. So, everyone probably invented everything collectively and in a cumulative fashion. Many dishes went back and forth between the mediterranean countries to become what they are today. That said, tzatziki sauce is awesome.

  • @fezan84 i agree. food is food. some races put their own special touch. but the basics will never change. so one person adds thyme and another doesn't. whatever floats your taste buds. the basics are still greek yogurt, cucumbers, olive oil, garlic and salt.

PEOPLE CAN BE SO PETTY and argue about the smallest things....food receipes...

  • @fezan84 yogurt is not mediterannean..and its a very nomadic recipe ,we later become mediterannean after migrated from asia we brought yogurt with us and its silly when someone had no nomadic origin says its their invention..not saying it for cacık ( cucumber is not a steppes veggie) ..its about yogurt..is obviously not greek ....greek yogurt ..nonsense..(i have no negative feelings about greek peep btw)

  • Ancient Greek food dated 8000 BC ( proto Greek Sesklo ), Mycenaean 3000 B.C. - 1100 B.C. and so on. The Byzantine took the ancient Greek recipes and brought it to Anatolia.

Zeus altar dated 3000 B.C. in Lykaion, Greece.

No one can say that Greeks took from Turkey, India or Arabs. Ancient Greece recipes dated 8000 B.C.

    :P

  • @WordsOfWisdom88 dont think so . most of are food is pork and you dont eat pork do you

  • greek food, greek herbs, greek mountain tea

    No visitis to doctor anymore!!!

  • Bravo!

  • Tzatziki is divine, especially with grilled meat and fried potatoes, eggplants or courgettes, just don't eat it before going on a date!

  • Outstanding work on this video! Looks fabulous!

  • I am not greek but I can prepare it myself, it's easy and delicious. The traditional way to prepared is the right thing to do, but remember, it might vary according to your personal taste. Some people dislike cucumbers, other, too much garlic, so again, the preparation is in the taste of the cook. Regards from Mexico!

  • Do NOT use dill!!!

All u need is greek full fat yoghurt, garlic, extra virgin greek olive oil, salt and black pepper.

    Once again NO DILL!!!

  • Dill is the best part of this dish!!!!

  • @gpandis23 sorry but i love it with dill, and a lot of people does

  • I don't want to sound ignorant, but did the gyro ever originated from Greece?

  • I was just looking for some cooking tips, and even here I find foul mouthed and racist insults tossed around, based on nothing what so ever but ignorance and stupidity. What the hell is wrong with you guys!

  • This is a disgrace to American culture. It makes yoou wonder what kind of family this person was raised in-it certainly doesn't say much for his/her parents. And we wonder why this country is going down the tubes! I am SO GLAD I lived in younger years in a normal America because I couldn't take too many more years of this trash permeating our liveso

  • @meetorite1 What the hell? We're all immigrants... even you. Unless you happen to be Native American, in which case Greek people did nothing to do you.

  • @grman36 it is real . you can just add pepper to your likings . it's not like the tzatziki you tasted to one tavern.dill is in the recipe

  • Guys, I'm Greek and this the right away to make tzatziki ... That's how we make it here in Greece ... But If you like you can add a tablespoon of vinegar... By the way ... Try putting some onion and sugar to make a sweet and garligy dip for French fries!

  • If you are Greek you will know that is NOTHING but Greek Recipe. The 100% Greek Tzatziki all ingridients are white, NO COLOR AT ALL

JUST: Garlic, Yogurt, Salt,, Cucumber and Olive Oil

  • @grman36 and vinegar - don't forget that!!!

  • @grman36 Yes, I have not had it before with dill in it.

  • @grman36 i agree Dill is not a nececery ingredient it is optional ...

  • love it!!

  • i feel sorry for you.....

  • thanks for posting

  • Here in Greece we get good Greek yogurt. I have never used dill before and will try it next time.

    Efharisto poli.

  • It looked so good I almost bit into the computer

  • D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S

one of the great joys of life

  • now that you've put this recipe online are you aware of the consequences? Tzatziki will be all I'll eat in the whole year.

  • yummy

  • Maybe the 'Greek' yogurt in the States is sour, but the 'straggisto' sold here in Greece (or even the 'Total') is pretty mellow, so vinegar's still a must. Guess it's a matter of taste!

  • Without some vinegar, I don't think it will have enough 'kick' ... otherwise, a nice traditional tzatziki.

  • I love tzatziki :-P

I have to agree here, we always put vinegar in the tzatziki :)

  • if you use real Greek yogurt, which is very tart, believe me there is enoug kick.

    Diane

  • geia sou re patrida

  • I like tzatziki without draining the cucumber.
