Quidam has long been my favorite Cirque show. Was fortunate to finally see it live a few days ago. One of my fave acts. As for the lady spinning in the back, I've always felt she fits in with all the other circular or spinning imagery and movement in the show, representing the endless rotation and cycle of our lives, and the difficulty we can have breaking out of our routine.

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Spinster is played by one of the aerial hoop artists in this video. She's wearing the same exact makeup as they are and she can spin for 5+ minutes without being dizzy.

I love this act so much! The song is unbeliaveble, the choreography and the movements are brilliant, but I think that what gives this act its feeling, its power are all those little ( or large) details: the spinning woman on the backround, how Olga opens her eyes sudddenly at 2:34 , how wind seems to ruffle her hair at 1:21, the way she leaves scene, flying, her sudden movements....

Everything gives this act a special sort of power and gravity!

i can tell you that it creates amazeing an atmosphere. she does that thu the hole intermision (sp?) just on stage spinning! i think it resembles how we take things for granted and how we just need to slow down and take a look around. hope this helps

I'm not certain, but I don't think that's a woman; it's a Whirling Dervish. It's a traditional Sufi dance. You can see the same sort of thing, perhaps the same performer, in the last episode of Solstrom.

The woman who is spinning is a Aerial hoop artist, if you don't have this prior info pause at 1:19 and the make up is the same, also currently the character who comes running out around 0:43 is also a aerial hoop artist.

-Olga is indeed back in Quidam and looked pretty A *

- The women is spinning in the backgraound... just because, its part of the visual display tha is Cirque, there are lots of things like this.

- The canes are slotted into the floor which rotates round. i thik there is a v slow innner big circle, then a faster outer one and the rest is stationary (but like a target)

My guess is that the canes are on a circular track while the outer part of the stage moves as well. But, I could be wrong. Either way, it looks amazing.

This is Olga Pikhienko. Elena Lev performed to this same song in Quidam when Olga Pikienko is performing in Vareikai, but Elena Lev perform hula hoops, in Alegria, Quidam and Wintuk. Both very talented and beautiful girls, but one balancing canes and one hoops. Yes, there are holes in the ground, the canes goes into them, but the artist turns it themselves,exp, 2.10

The song has no official recording. Fans and musicians simply call it Hand Balancing. My advice is that you rip it from the dvd: connect audio output with pc audio input and record. If you try, please tell me!

The reason why her performance in Varekai was better is because she was about twenty-one when she performed. She was only fifteen when she did this for the first time. Pretty amazing for a fifteen year old, huh? :)

I saw cirque when I was 13 so i started learning simple stuff in workshops and learning stuff like splits. When i saw varekai i started to tach myself contortion and handbalancing seriously. Im 15 now. Im not good at it but i'm still learning. It makes ya wish you started sooner!
