Why do so many hate two? Without two there wouldn't be a third movie to begin with. I prefer this over 3, 4, 5, 6, and remake. At least New Nightmare went back to scary Freddy again. Besides that 2 had the most deaths then any other ANOES and I really love the high body count approach. I wanted Jesse and Jennifer in three so it would of made a lot more sense.
I love how the sequels became more "goofy" because it made it more like a dream... Which made it more realistic if anything. everyone acts like their dreams are so serious and dull. No, dreams are wacky and strange. Even nightmares. And that's what these movies showed.
@CoolEasyProductions Never say that, if you ever saw all of freddy's deaths and kills, they ate pretty scary. The new one is bad. JEH was a bad Freddy Krueger. It looks like he is a deformed rat. I FUCKING GO FOR NANCY THOMPSON I DON'T GIVE A FREAK ABOUT NANCY HOLBROCK. The movies aren't comendy, smart person. Get your facts right!
Elm Street 2 had lots of flaws but I still respect it because it kept Freddy's character dark and truly frightening, like he was in the original. After this film, they turned him into a wise-cracking goofball. I've always enjoyed Freddy's scary side more than the funny side.
@PeyserConley Totally agree with you... I hated it how they turned him into a softy comedic pussy!! He was much better evil & dark like in the early films. They did the same think to Chucky the Child's Play films were great nice and evil & dark... then along came bride & seed which turned Chucky into a comedy, absolute crap!!
@25Robbo25 Part 5 kind of went back to the scary Freddy although at times it could get corny, and lets not forget New Nightmare definitely went back to the original format.
Thats what made Robert Englund so damn awesome. His creepier Freddy and his comedic Freddy were both eye magnets. He really made the part fun to watch no matter how he executed it. Brilliant Actor and a great series.
Id also suggest Behind The Mask if youre a nightmare on elm street fan. Robert Englund and allot of other horror greats make an appearance. Youtube the trailer at the very least, but Im here to tell you its worth the rent/buy if you liked nightmare.
@Snipe No.s 1 & 2 were best imo. Freddy was scary but had that twisted sense of humour we love. Allot of people prefer 3 (Dream Warrior) to 2 (Freddy's Revenge). I think it's coz of the more creative plot in 3. Freddy wasn't scary in 3 tho & it went downhill from there. The Franchise became more of a comedy than horror. They did well on the remake but Freddy fans old enough to remember the originals at the time will always prefer them. It's nostalgia more than anything. I had them all on VHS lol
@SnipeYourCheese It's easy to think that Robert Englund's Freddy should of been more sadistic like Jackie Earle Haley's character but people need to keep in mind that it was a different era back in the 80's. As with allot of things in the 80's, it wouldn't work these days because times and culture have changed. Haley's Freddy is just an updated version for the modern era. You have to of been around at the time to really appreciate the originals.
@TheARMAProductions, Actually, Freddy on the 1st film was serious like the remake Freddy was, alot of people just bitched and complained about Jackie's Freddy was because it wasn't Robert Englund's Freddy and that he joke around, most people that were creeped out by Freddy was mainly because of the 1st movie because it was actually scary and serious as opposed to the sequels.
@tjmack010 Yeah read my below comment mate. I agree that Freddy was scary in parts 1 & 2 but I found the remake to have a darker tone to it in general compared to the Englund films. My old man used to rent out the originals for me when I was a kid. I saw the original when I were 6 lol. I'm not sure if he would of rented me out the remake when I were 6 though due to what I said about the feel of the film in general
Do you realize how homoerotic this movie is. This movie was made for faggots. Next time you watch it, just count how many times Jesse says " He's inside of me "
@britneysprsfan1 Yea right. The old ones are not even really horror movies. They are just really bad comedy movies. Robert sucks all the way compared to Jacky. The old ones look like cheep home made shit.
I love this flick. Go Jessie!!! You scream that scream girlfriend!!!! The vhs copy of this use to be dark as hell. Thank god they cleaned it up on the dvd!
I've never watched those movies (only the remake, that I actually thought was a great movie) so I'm watching the old Freddy movies and I watched this one yesterday. With all respect, this one sucked, and I'm not talking about special effects or anything, it really doesn't even make sense at all.
@VatriciaCEdgar the remake of nightmare on elm street sucked Robert England was way better at it then the new guy was they were dumb for getting a new guy and it still wasn't scary

such a shame that I didn't grow up in any of the horror movie haydays, well I was alive when some of the good ones came out(only the screams) but wasn't old enough to see them in theaters...all these remakes suck.
no lie the movies from back then especially the scary movies are way better than the ones from now even tho they don't look as realistic as the ones from now they are better !!

There are 7 Nightmare On Elm Street movies. On a scale of 1-10 on the scary factor for you, the first Nightmare on Elm Street will definitely be a 10.
@ortonfan166 Aww man, that sucks. Well thank you though. That means that I can't watch it for a few years, that freaking sucks! XP Well, at least I can watch the series in the mean time I guess. It's pretty good, I laugh at it mostly, it's so full of 80's cheese! But thank you though, I very much appericate it. :)
@ortonfan166 Oh yeah! I saw that part online. I've been finding snippets of it all over the internet, and I think I'll be able to handle it, so thank u, u helped me out VERY much honestly. ;)
@dragonholder411 There is about 9 movies 1-7 are the best then there is Freddy vs Jason and and the newest one that sucked but if you are a sensitive person the first movie id put you at a 8-9 cause thats the scariest one in my opinion but as you start to watch the others you will get more and more into the series and then instead of you being scared of Freddy your cheering for him to kill the person
@dragonholder411 There are 9 as of April 2011. NOES 1-Original NOES 2-Freddy's Revenge NOES 3-Dream Warriors NOES 4-Dream Master NOES 5-The Dream Child NOES 6-Freddy's Dead-The Final Nightmare Wes Cravens-New Nightmare Freddy VS. Jason NOES Remake (2010) Hope this helped!
Then I defenitely wouldn't watch Nightmare On Elm Street, in my opinion this goes way further than the hacking and slashing in either Halloween or Friday the 13th.
@dragonholder411 yeah in that case ...i would give these a miss ...i saw these films at the age of about 4 and had sleeping problems up to the age of about 15 as a result of it :p
@dragonholder411 its not more scary then the friday the 13th movies to me (not scary at all) but theyre all really great (apart from the 6th and 7th one though) and theres 7 movies (the last one being pointless like jason X)
@dragonholder411 It's not really extremely scary... on a scare factor of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6 probably. There is a little bit of Freddy jumping out at you... and a little blood, but it's not really scary other than that...
@dragonholder411 I think there is about 8 of them including the remake, that plus a series of mini episodes they play on movie channels around halloween. I wouldn't say Nightmare on elm street is that scary, but if you are sensitive then maybe don't watch it. I would personally rate it a 4 on the scary factor because it is so unrealistic (the 80s ones) But don't watch the remake if you are easily frightended because its a lot more realistic and scarier cuz it has better special effects.
@dragonholder411 The 2010 one isn't really that scary. I get scared really easily during scary movies, but this one actually made me laugh. So don't worry about it :)
@dragonholder411 i was like that too but just watch it when you want it you're ready and it's not super scary since the special effects weren't that good
@dragonholder411 Dude, there's movies way scarier then this haha. This is more of a starter movie for people who are just getting into horror. Watch Black christmas(original) or Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then see how you feel.
@dragonholder411 Well, the original 1984 version effects are not even real looking. I actually watched the original movie at home when I was a young boy (about 5) and I wasn't scared at all. I /JUST/ rewatched it and it is a very good movie, but not scary.
I just watched the Biography Channel Documentary on the Elm Street Movies.
This isn't Robert Englund at 0:30 They didn't want to spend the money on him and used a stunt man that walked horrible for Freddy. He walked like Frankenstein or Jason and they decided to go with Robert Englund after this. I think it's funny they went and put it in the trailer at least.

This sucks because the others were so good and the characters in this were so unlikeable.
However, this is probably the most realistic.
The scene were the guy goes downstairs for a drink and sees Freddy outside in the garden is the most scary scene in the entire series because it's so real.
I like how almost everyone (including this film's producers) thought this film had a gay undertone.

JacobW151 9 months ago
@dragonholder411 well then you are REALLY not ready for the first one.........but some of the other ones arent that bad.

Then I defenitely wouldn't watch Nightmare On Elm Street, in my opinion this goes way further than the hacking and slashing in either Halloween or Friday the 13th.

@dragonholder411 It's not really extremely scary... on a scare factor of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6 probably. There is a little bit of Freddy jumping out at you... and a little blood, but it's not really scary other than that...
Stripeddancer 7 months ago
@dragonholder411 when you say halloween n friday, you mean remake or old version ?
Subliminalhiphop 7 months ago
@dragonholder411 If you can't handle Halloween, then I wouldn't watch this. The original is still the scariest one.
FangX39 7 months ago
@dragonholder411 I think there is about 8 of them including the remake, that plus a series of mini episodes they play on movie channels around halloween. I wouldn't say Nightmare on elm street is that scary, but if you are sensitive then maybe don't watch it. I would personally rate it a 4 on the scary factor because it is so unrealistic (the 80s ones) But don't watch the remake if you are easily frightended because its a lot more realistic and scarier cuz it has better special effects.
ThunderBirdsAreG0 7 months ago
@dragonholder411 The 2010 one isn't really that scary. I get scared really easily during scary movies, but this one actually made me laugh. So don't worry about it :)
Emilyepple 7 months ago
@dragonholder411 i was like that too but just watch it when you want it you're ready and it's not super scary since the special effects weren't that good
thedudsonette 6 months ago
@dragonholder411 If you include the remake and F vs. J, 9, if neither, 7....

I think it's funny they went and put it in the trailer at least.

if not for the gayness in freddys revenge it would have alot more potential. love the famous "you are all my children now" line :D

This sucks because the others were so good and the characters in this were so unlikeable.
However, this is probably the most realistic.
The scene were the guy goes downstairs for a drink and sees Freddy outside in the garden is the most scary scene in the entire series because it's so real.
