BTW, 700,000+ have already died in Iraq and the CIA says Al Qaeda is stronger now than at any time since 2001. I'm sure your failed strategy will work sometime, if we just keep doing the same dumb thing over and over and over and...
You moonbats keep revising your figures up. Hey, if you are just making stuff up, why not a million?
I notice you give no solution for Islamic terrorism, just the infantile "war is bad" mantra. we are killing a lot of terrorists over there, and we WILL continue to kill them as long as they come there.
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health - "We estimate that as of July, 2006, there have been 654,965 (392,979--942,636) excess Iraqi deaths as a consequence of the war, which corresponds to 2·5% of the population." Our invasion under false pretenses and subsequent mismanagement has already brought a bloodbath to Iraq.
I notice you give no solution for Islamic terrorism, just the infantile "Bush is good" mantra. We are killing a lot of civillians over there, and we WILL continue to kill them as long as fools think that this somehow reduces the threat of future terrorism.
You are also killing innocent Fathers and Mothers, What do you think their Kids are going to want to do when they grow up?
Ummmm . . . Kill Americans? Perhaps?
You are creating Terrorists and will so until you stop fucking with THEIR land, and secure your own borders.
I've got an Out there Idea on how to stop Terrorists entering America . . . Here we go . . Secure your borders, and Use your so called "Intellegence" to screen bad guys!
all these seem good but are you paying for it with your money and blood? Chicken hawks like to spend other people's money and blood for their agenda. What a bunch of cowards!
America IS the Aggressor you dip shit, you ARE setting the terms, America is Considering Nuclear options on Iran!!!!!
You fought the USSR when they have thousands of Nuclear Weapons but somehow didn't fuck things up, but now when fighting a bunch a Terrorists with no army no weapons (unless supplied by the US) who live in the hills of Pakistan, you are ready to go to all out war? and kill millions of People?
This isn't about Terrorism, G Dubya had planed to Attack Iraq before 9/11, Iran supplies 19% of china's oil and who is the biggest threat to America's dominence as the only Superpower, yep thats right . .China! This is about money and Power simple as that.
They weren't training there before. Iraq was a secular country. Women could drive cars and go to school. After we leave, it's going to be an Islamic state- no matter when we leave.
Like you're going to convert a billion Muslims anyway.
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Despite the unpopularity of the Iraq war, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama predicted Thursday that Congress won't directly challenge President Bush's plans and will focus instead on putting a ceiling on the number of troops deployed to that country.
Let's see, we sold arms to Iraq, Reagan sold weapons to the terrorists in Iran that are now killing our boys, we supported the mujahadeen in Afghanistan that are now Bin Laden's lot. Is there any chance that all this training and billions of dollars we're spending to train and arm Iraq will, once again, be used against us?
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Despite the unpopularity of the Iraq war, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama predicted Thursday that Congress won't directly challenge President Bush's plans and will focus instead on putting a ceiling on the number of troops deployed to that country.
It's really sad to see these guys sell there souls for this charade. What happen to Colin Powell ? I think he's so ashamed we'll never see him again! Is there anything more pathetisc than guys that actually went to Vietnam selling the same nonsense for clowns didn't even go?
Betrayus is just another Bush Lackie. Quagmire (Iraq) won't change until Bush is gone. Congress is helpless except for stopping funding. They won't do that due to blame game.

Whenever I see the 82nd, I get interested. I was a Lt.,71542 with the 3/505, and then with 3/187 with the 101st in RVN. I know how the DC congress sold us out, and it would appear that it is happenning again.
So, what did you think of the op-ed, both it's content and the fact that these active duty soldiers wrote it? I'm interested in your perspective. What if folks had written a similar one from Vietnam?
Well, first, not oped. Chris? The Philly thing? I did go to college there. Chris? Tell me something new. My perspective on Iraq?. I see no reason to be there. The military?
If you are a real patriot and can do a better job, why aren't you over there, or is it that you are simply an asshole with a big mouth, who knows very little, and makes even less meaningful comments.
Same reason as you - too old now. If you weren't too lazy to click, you'd already know that. Why bother engaging in reasoned debate when anonymous, childish name-calling is so much less effort. BTW, I certainly couldn't do a worse job for the military and America's citizens that Cheney/Shrub have.
vr: You don't know my age, and I did not bother to click because I read your comment and could see you had nothing worthwhile to say. As far as "childish name calling" is concerned, "betrayus", or "shrub" you hypocrite. I did not call you a name, I was stating a fact, you are an asshole with a big mouth and all bullshit.
Good point. All I know is that your profile says '52'. Okay then, you're not 52, you're just a liar. At least I've provided some evidence, whether you accept it or not. All you seem capable of is whiney flaming.
vr: I don't consider 52 old, and never call me a liar unless you are standing in front of me. I don't know where you get your info from, and I could care less, you see what you want to see, and you do not want to know what I am capable of. "whiny flaming" those two words said it all, you are a fag, thats why stating you are an asshole with a big mouth didn't bother you, you took it as a compliment.
junkie; Are you a mind reader? How in hell do you know what that asshole fag was saying, unless there is a connection between you and him, or you are not just a junkie, you are also queer too.
My you're thick. I didn't say that 52 was old. I said that at 50 I, like you, am "too old now" to serve in Iraq. I am so, so sorry for saying that you were lying on your profile. Rather you were lying when you said, "You don't know my age..."
"Fag" has to be the most incompetent insult possible. If I am gay it is merely accurate. If I'm straight it is just silly and demonstrates that your maturity has not advanced in 40 years.
vr: "gay is accurate", that is bullshit, it is a word the queers are using to play the part of a discriminated minority, actually faggot is a more fitting term, pardon the pun. First, how many fags have you seen that were not crying or complaining, so you can't call them gays, second, and more important, homosexuality is immoral, and even the Pope can not change that.
vr; Almost right, he is a simpleton able to comprehend a statement made by a simpleton. The only thing that is correct is the fact that you see, and hear, only what you like, everything and everyone, other than you, is wrong. You quote stats, and papers that enforce you thinking, Iraq, if it was a dem. prez, would not be in your vocabulary, you are playing politics.
General Patraeus is being used exactly the way C. Powell was. An honest man's word to manipulate the leg. branch of our government, and the amermican public opinion to enable a little rich kid's wet warmongering dream.
Listen up fool, Bush has stated categorically that the general will call the shots, so to speak. That is, de facto, policy making regardless of how CHENEY and his lapdog BUSH would like to color it. Damn dude, read up.
-Petraeus 220 BC Sent by king of Macedonia, to Lacedaemonians to confirm submission and allegiance to Macedonia. He later commanded a force in Thessaly against the Aetolian invaders. -Petraeus 2007 AD Sent by prez of US, to Iraq to confirm submission and allegiance to US. He later commanded a force in Iran against the Al Queda invaders. This history has already been written.
hmm micsc5 does it compare in any shape or form to the twisting the whitehouse does (oops sorry, go ahead now YOU lie and tell us all the whitehouse doen't lie constantly to cover their fuckups).
does it also compare to the 150 neo con hacks who twist the truth on an hourly basis at faxu noise.
you would show a maudicum of courage if you responded to this you nco con hack.
thanks, & your spelling exemplifies why i am winning.
problem is micsc, u just can't stand the fact neo cons r being exposed in all stages of the political game 4 what u r. from wars, to hurricanes to a-moral sex from both ends of the spectrum.
seems if i am winning u ignorant, bigoted christian neo cons r having problems that have not stopped the hemoraging of support 4 u hypocrites.
Thanks for showing you true colours Micsc, Thats all neo-cons can do when in an Argument, Insult and then run home crying for there mummies, because they don't know anything to Argue about!
Almost 4,000 U.S. soldiers dead. Close to 1,000,000 Iraqis dead. Petreus can't say that the illegal war is worth the blood sacrifice of innocents and doesn't verify the rhetoric of the Bush administration.
Question: Do you want to risk your life for "I don't know", I don't.
i liked that Petraeus sought to be honest and honorable. His so-called "retraction" wasn't really all that different from what he said the first time around, just a clarification. I don't see him as a Bush puppet.
Do watch any other news besides what comes from mainstream America?, because if you did you would realize that you are Not winning, Cannot Win, and Will not win because you have already lost. There is nothing left to win, You can not win a war when you cannot define the enemy!
You have a point. However, as of now, it's about meeting the benchmarks. The government over there has been slow in meeting; however, the others are coming along quite nicely. It's not about killing anymore. But to ensure that the benchmarks are met, killing is somethimes necessary...
This answer is wrong. The benchmarks, whatever they are, could be met, and then when the US leaves, the entire situation will be horrible again.
Benchmarks are a bullshit way of putting off the inevitable- the US will leave, and after we leave whatever is going to happen, will happen. It doesn't matter when we leave, it's going to fall to pieces.
Im surprised betrayus strayed from the talking points at all, he should not slip up after all the gitmo mind control they did to him. The Manchurian General
hohe; I agree, calling a general who has served with distinction "betrayus", is inane and stupid, but you have to remember you are on UT, what did you expect, this is only a place to post comments for people whom no one pays attention to in the first place.
The Bush White House lives & dies by it's daily talking points, even more than the rest of the heavily-scripted GOP. How many times have we watched the Sunday morning news shows with everybody saying the exact same phrase in lockstep. But who the hell writes these talking points? It's obviously not Bush or Cheney. So who is this master propagandist wordsmith? It certainly isn't Bush's speech writer. I've always just assumed it was Rove.
How brainwashed is chris matthews that he didn't already see how much of a puppet petreus is!? Bush fires anyone who doesn't agree with him, and hires on a neo-con yes-man to replace the dissenter. It's not a secret that bush only listens to positive feedback.
lol stuck between Iraq and a hard white house... I really do hate the way the Bush adm can bully people around to get their way.
My thoughts are with you general as well as your men/women. Those motherfuckin Iraqis are holdin' our soldiers hostage! Work it fuckin out you idiots!
God have mercy on Bush's soul... This botched war is his heart of black gold's fault.
The iraqis never asked for this war. This is OUR war, and picking up the nancy pelosi sword of "do it your damn selves, iraq," is missing the point. Yes, the iraquis have to work it out for themselves, but we cannot simply pass the buck to them because we wish we hadn't been the match in the fireworks stand.
I would have agreed with you if we just toppled Saddam's regime months ago, but the fact is we have given the Iraqi goverment time with the the blood of our troops and trillions of dollars. They need to step up, take responsibility for Iraq, and end the civil war. We need to stop trying to play all of the factions in Iraq with this failed strategy.
We were PAINFULLY unaware of the political/ethnic situation in iraq before the insurgency, and we (as you said) tried to play all the factions as if they were all in agreement. If we wanted to 'win' we would pick shia, sunni, or kurd, put them in power, and massacre the rest. This is an inhumane and ugly solution, but then again, war is inhumane and ugly; that's why i've been against it from the start.
What does ANYONE gain from this vaccuum AK-anarchy? There's no money to be made, no power gained, no imerial take. Who, besides power-hungry iraqui militants, stands to gain from this?
Oh I agree entirely we should have not went into Iraq, but the fact is the division between Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims has been ongoing for nearly 1,000 years. Iraq itself was only formed 70 years ago, and only survived the 80s because of Saddam's reign of terror.
Cheney knew occupying Iraq was a mess and said so 9 years before the Iraq War. We continue to play sides in this sectarian violence for short term goals...but we have no real long term strategy in Iraq.
The great tragic irony of this whole mess is that saddam was loyal to america. We have nothing to offer religious extremists and idealists. America's great asset is its wealth and weaponry, and in exchange for wealth and weaponry, saddam and his sunni elites would have been willing to cut a deal for the oil, and whatever else we wanted. Instead, we've empowered those who desire enlightenment and godliness, and i don't think we have those in our checking account.
You do know that a clear majority of Iraqis (57% according to the most recent BBC/ABC poll) support attacks on American troops. You honestly think, at a time when America is 9 TRILLION dollars in the hole, that the American taxpayer should be forced to pony up hundreds of billions more for a country where a majority of the population supports attacks on the troops who were sent to help them? Whether we stay or leave- the civil war will rage on. I'm not willing to go over there- ARE YOU?
So if Someone invaded America, and you life turned to shit because of it, would you Support attacks on them? No?
You went in there under the GUISE of helping Iraqi's, that is totally obvious now, The real reason was to secure the area for US Interests and set up a base in which to attack Iran, which has been a goal of the USA for a while now.
So now it's the "motherfuckin Iraqis" to blame, huh? After the US government(supported by the majority of your congress and your people then) went against the worldwide consensus and bombed and occupied and broke and overturned everything, causing tens of thousands of civillian deaths and millions of refugees to flee their homes. And now it's the "motherfuckin Iraqis" to blame. How typical, too coward to admit your own mistakes.

BTW, 700,000+ have already died in Iraq and the CIA says Al Qaeda is stronger now than at any time since 2001. I'm sure your failed strategy will work sometime, if we just keep doing the same dumb thing over and over and over and...

What? Kill everyone? No indeed, no War Profits in that. Just kill a steady stream of them.

I notice you give no evidence for your claims.

Why? For Oil!!

Please read what the brave soldiers of the 82nd Airborne have to say about the Iraq war in an op-ed first published in the NY Times, Aug. 19, 2007. Mora and Gray have since died and Murphy has been seriously wounded.
globalpolicy(dot)org/security/issues/iraq/withdraw/2007/0819aswesawit.htm

But, I can see no reason to be in Iraq.

gemini067,
Same reason as you - too old now. If you weren't too lazy to click, you'd already know that. Why bother engaging in reasoned debate when anonymous, childish name-calling is so much less effort. BTW, I certainly couldn't do a worse job for the military and America's citizens that Cheney/Shrub have.
vrede420 4 years ago
vr: You don't know my age, and I did not bother to click because I read your comment and could see you had nothing worthwhile to say. As far as "childish name calling" is concerned, "betrayus", or "shrub" you hypocrite. I did not call you a name, I was stating a fact, you are an asshole with a big mouth and all bullshit.
gemini067 4 years ago
gemini067,
Good point. All I know is that your profile says '52'. Okay then, you're not 52, you're just a liar. At least I've provided some evidence, whether you accept it or not. All you seem capable of is whiney flaming.
vrede420 4 years ago
vr: I don't consider 52 old, and never call me a liar unless you are standing in front of me. I don't know where you get your info from, and I could care less, you see what you want to see, and you do not want to know what I am capable of. "whiny flaming" those two words said it all, you are a fag, thats why stating you are an asshole with a big mouth didn't bother you, you took it as a compliment.
gemini067 4 years ago
You're really 52? And this is the way you talk to people?
52 is too old for military enlistment. That's what the guy was saying.

cornbreadjunkie 4 years ago
junkie: try reading when you are not high, you might get a different interpretation.
gemini067 4 years ago
gemini067,
My you're thick.
If I'm straight it is just silly and demonstrates that your maturity has not advanced in 40 years.
vrede420 4 years ago
vr: "gay is accurate", that is bullshit, it is a word the queers are using to play the part of a discriminated minority, actually faggot is a more fitting term, pardon the pun. First, how many fags have you seen that were not crying or complaining, so you can't call them gays, second, and more important, homosexuality is immoral, and even the Pope can not change that.

vrede420: "Same reason as you - too old now."
vrede420 4 years ago
vr; Almost right, he is a simpleton able to comprehend a statement made by a simpleton. The only thing that is correct is the fact that you see, and hear, only what you like, everything and everyone, other than you, is wrong. You quote stats, and papers that enforce you thinking, Iraq, if it was a dem. prez, would not be in your vocabulary, you are playing politics.

DamNationDiplomat 4 years ago
I would have agreed with you if we just toppled Saddam's regime months ago, but the fact is we have given the Iraqi goverment time with the the blood of our troops and trillions of dollars. They need to step up, take responsibility for Iraq, and end the civil war. We need to stop trying to play all of the factions in Iraq with this failed strategy.
Kapan60 4 years ago
We were PAINFULLY unaware of the political/ethnic situation in iraq before the insurgency, and we (as you said) tried to play all the factions as if they were all in agreement. If we wanted to 'win' we would pick shia, sunni, or kurd, put them in power, and massacre the rest. This is an inhumane and ugly solution, but then again, war is inhumane and ugly; that's why i've been against it from the start.

Kapan60 4 years ago 4
The great tragic irony of this whole mess is that saddam was loyal to america. We have nothing to offer religious extremists and idealists. America's great asset is its wealth and weaponry, and in exchange for wealth and weaponry, saddam and his sunni elites would have been willing to cut a deal for the oil, and whatever else we wanted. Instead, we've empowered those who desire enlightenment and godliness, and i don't think we have those in our checking account.
DamNationDiplomat 4 years ago 4
You do know that a clear majority of Iraqis (57% according to the most recent BBC/ABC poll) support attacks on American troops. You honestly think, at a time when America is 9 TRILLION dollars in the hole, that the American taxpayer should be forced to pony up hundreds of billions more for a country where a majority of the population supports attacks on the troops who were sent to help them? Whether we stay or leave- the civil war will rage on. I'm not willing to go over there- ARE YOU?
