no and thats a very valid point, it does not need to be all or nothing, we need a division of labor in order to simply continue to exist, yet we also need to be very concerned about the environment. we should be developing new energy sources etc etc. but when people say "im against consumerism" when everything they do in life involves or is made possible by it,it annoys me. but i totally agree with you. it shouldnt be all or nothing. you can have a merket economy with provisions.

what do you mean by "mindless" at first air-conditioning was a toy for the wealthy, mindless consumerism drove down cost and now you can get a AC for like $50 even the poor now enjoy air-conditioning, which was made possible by the very "mindless" consumerism you reject. the people who made air-conditioning possible didnt do it out of --lovvve- they did it to make a profit, and we are all better off today even the poorest familys enjoy it, and thousands are saved from heat-strokes.

Freedom is when you empower kids to learn how to be entrepreneurs early on in life. Schools should teach the subject, after all these kids are either going to work for a company (profit or non profit) or create their own path by owning businesses. Let's really teach them real life lessons. Why do we still have to follow the industrial age style of education while we are in digital, service- oriented age?
