IMHO wing chun is better as a bare knuckle art than a glove art, even if the gloves are only four oz. The main reason why wing chun

men have been less than succesaful in events like shidokan and mma is, a. lack of top condition, and b. no sparring against wrestlers and bjj/shoot practitioners. That said, wing chun would certainly be a good art to add to the matrix of boxing, thai boxing, wrestling, and bjj. In fact, many wc teachers also teach fma and mtas well as some sort of sub art.

Its quite amazing that Wing Chun is now open to the public.That the genius of Wing Chun is now being shown because of youtube. Wing Chun was produced from the best techniques of various styles of kung fu. Some Wing Chun has been watered down to a simple martial art with very static movements and inadaquate movements. Master Wong is what a good Sifu represents. As he's said before; If your learning things that dont make sense your probably not learning real Wing Chun.

Ufc is no real fight! They got rules. If some one would come in a situation in a real fight, he would do what it needs to overcome he's opponent. You don't see people biting each other when they are in a position when theres arms or legs are useless or kicking in the balls or breaking each others arms or legs which the martial artist got really easy to do. I would like to see Cro Cop fight with Jet li with out rules =D

i really think the centerline theory and sunfist and immovable elbow shit would definately work in UFC. it would just be less effecient and more brutal, becuase he couldnt just throw three punches to the throat and break the knee cap.

but yeah, im waiting for the day that some gung fu master will come in and own the ufc. a good gung fu master, not the ones in early UFC.

that's the thing that makes wing chun very original. in most martial arts like kickboxing thai boxing tkd etc u try to keep youre self distant from youre opponent but in wing chun you try to close the gap and get in real close to deliver quick and effective attacks. and what makes the tecnuiqes so effective is that they target sensitive areas like nerves joint and so on.

I totally agree. Being a student of Muay Thai and JKD (brief wing chun exposure), I can understand and appreciate their respective methodologies and differences.

that's good that u practice both cause to be completely effective it's important to be able to fight in close quarters like in JKD and Wing Chun but also important to be able to fight distand like in muay thai, kick boxing, TKD and other marial arts alike. i practice san shou myself cause it uses both even though it is mostly a kickboxing type of sport. wish i had time for wing chun as well.
