It's about a guy who's afraid of human contact. He's afraid to leave his room, which is really just a metaphor for his closed off insular life. No one seems to notice him through his windowshades, no one pays attention to him. He wonders "has it always been this way" since he was a kid. He probably has some kind of social disorder.
