They are hard to find in my area, as is ammo. I was lucky to find one but it was a little expensive $590 after tax. Came with 2 15 round magazine, and it has two slits on top of the gun so it can release the gases for less recoil (so I was told). I for got what it was called.
How does the Kalifornia government think that 10 round limits on civilian weapons will reduce crime?
Bad Guy: "Well, I was going to take up a life of crime. But now that I can only carry 10 rounds its just not fun any more. I guess I will have to go on welfare and get a job."
Really? Because criminals already follow gun laws, they will follow the 10 round limit. 10 rounds just hurts the law abiding civilians.
@XCritonX Yeah and even if you are a criminal who fallow the law on 10 rounds mags and you want to go out and kill people you can just kill 10 instead of 15 with a normal mag.
Yay the state saved 5 people!
And of course you dont think about reloading with another legaly bought 10 round mag.
The only logic law who would make a difference would be to have a 0 round mag.
But 10 or 15 what's the difference on crime.
You just take more time to kill more people as you have to reload?
have you heard about the north hollywood shootout? thats the rationale behind that law, because those men had 100 round drums, had they had 10 round magazines it would have been a somewhat different story
They also had illegal armor piercing rounds, shot at police, oh and they were robbing a bank. Are you really naive enough to believe that they would have had a moral problem breaking the 10 round limit?
The problem with the north Hollywood shoot out was that no one had the fire power to fight back. The police needed rifles.
Besides it was one incident, why should all Californians suffer because of it? Making a law based on a one time occurrence is just stupid and short sighted.
@XCritonX- We basically have people in the senate and in office IN our government so basically has no common sense. Guns dont kill people...you need a person to use a gun to kill...criminals will have guns even if they are banned...so GUN BAN= FAIL
i believe it's a maximum of 10 rounds in "Kalifornia". Also, this is a Glock 19 (compact) so it holds 15 + 1 rounds...the Glock 17 (full-size) on the other hand holds 17 + 1 rounds.
yes it is with the 10 round magazine. It has to be the one shipped with the 10 rounder also. It is a stupid law, but that is what the law is. At least people can still buy and own handguns without having to buy those stupid permits that people in NYC and Chicago do.
There are a lot of people who would tell you it is the BEST first handgun to buy, but the best gun for you is the one you will train with and shoot well.
I think the G19 is a good choice because the 9mm round is capable enough for self defense but doesn't have much recoil and is easy to control. Also, the 19 is the mid-sized version and fits the most people's hands. And Glocks are as reliable as pistols get. Made well and not outrageously priced.
I also recently picked one up for about $600. It came with three 15 round mags. I picked up a 33 rounder also for an extra $30. It's mainly for CCW, but I train with it religiously. I would choose it ten times out of ten over my custom Springfield 1911A1 any day.
i just got a G19. brand new w/ 3 -15 rd mags and night sights. i paid $455. from what i hear some of you guys are paying, especially in CA, looks like i got a steal:)
@rezmoneynwkubs The glock 19 is awesome, but if you are looking to save some money, check out the sig sauer p6 9mm(runs around 300-320), the CZ P07 as mentioned before, it is very nice, very crisp trigger in both single and double action, and runs around 50$ cheaper than the glock. also, check out the ruger p95 in 9mm. runs for about 300$ around me. or, if you can find a used springfield XD9, those are nice and reasonable.
@rezmoneynwkubs- If you like striker fire pistols. Best advice would be to shoot at the range and see if you like em. What caliber you want to get? For me G19 is the best in 9mm. Then .40 is G23 same frame as G19
I just bought a Glock 19 a few days ago. I love it. Shoots smooth, super easy to clean and as far as I know, it will last my life and hopefully the next generations too.
well it has a little button (or w/e you wanna call it) on the trigger that has to be pushed in order to pull the actual trigger. im not really sure how that makes it safer though since you would have to push it in order to pull the trigger anyway... i guess maybe so the gun wont get snaged or somthing and go off accidentally?
so yeah, its not exactly a very safe design, but its perfect for concealed carry IMO because you wouldnt have to do anything but draw the gun and pull the trigger.
for people asking about loading a single round without mag, yes you can do this on the glock by locking the slide back and putting a round in the chamber. people saying you cant do this most likely are used to magazine safeties which will not let the firing pin drop unless the magazine is in the gun. Glock does not use mag safeties.
If you get a good JHP and shoot someone in the chest and he looks back at you and says "HA HA..That tickled" RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!! But really, what should happen is he should get knocked the fuck down and leave you alone. LOL
Is it true that the only effect the glock 19 will do to a person is tickle him to death? I really don't believe it, but I am planning to get this and I want it to be a kick ass gun. please help
Hydrostatic shock borders on being a myth. 9mm Luger rounds are every bit as effective as .40, more versatile than .45, and cheaper than both. I personally own a Glock 19 and if you get one you will not be disappointed. It is probably the best ccw gun on the market. Get some speer gold dot 124gr +p ammo for it and you can't go wrong.
It's not 2 triggers, but one with trigger safety which is integrated. Check some more pictures with GLOCK and you'll see. I don't know why it looks as toy for you. Maybe because of polymer frame.
no, you simply just fill out some paper-work where you buy the gun. You can be 18 to buy a rifle, 21 to buy a handgun, but you can be 18 and own a handgun.
In New jersey the laws are very strict and suck ass. You have to pay about 70 dollars at the police station for paper work and to get fingerprinted, and then wait months for them to look into your background and go through your medical records. You also need two references. I filled out all of my paperwork early in May and I still have heard nothing, and when you call the station to inquire about the status of the permit they blow you off. Welcome to NJ!
You are lucky man. We have the same, but we also have to pass the exam with 30 questions and only one or two can be wrong to pass the exam. Then you can follow to practical exam with manipulation and shooting of weapon. Total cost with all police papework is about 250 USD.
Dunno I've never shoot S&W MP. Depends, from my point of view, GLOCK and S&W MP could be almost on same level of reliability. Try it in some shooting range or gunstore.
ha , i have one of these ! 2 mags , case and a speed loader , for five hundred bucks at academy sports and outdoors , i cant wait to get back from iraq to shoot it again , plus i ordered a stainless steel spring and guiderod for it , cost 40 bucks but better than the plastic one
I'm from Czech Republic. We have borders directly with Austria where the GLOCK is made. It's about 2 hours of driving from my city to GLOCK factory :-) But prices in our country are just insane. I got around 200 rounds of ammo with gun :-/ For brand new GLOCK 17/19 from gunstore you have to pay 1150 USD.
Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear that lol. Even at the most overpriced gunstores in town I can still grab one for like 550! Oh well, at least you can still own em yah know? Keep on shooting, keep the fight!
3rd generation has the light/accessory rail and also the finger grooves.
2nd generation does not have the light/accessory rail or the finger grooves.
I might be wrong, but I think the 3rd generations might have a "drop free" magwell which means it should allow the magazines to drop clear from the pistol when released. There might also be a difference of an ambidextrous mag release.
Cosmetics though, the only differences are the rails and finger grooves.
you don´t need a gun on a campus!and someone who is not experienced in adrenalin-pushing-situations should better try to run instad of pulling a gun;)
Lol well I'm sure if the students who died at V-tech had the option, they'd of conceal carried a handgun that day.
Besides, no one is ever experienced in an adrenaline shooting experience until it happens, does that mean we should stop arming our Police Officers and Soldiers?
If someone takes a CCW class and practices with their pistol, they have the right to defend their life with it.
cops are trained during the academy and the first day they hit the street, they know what adrenaline rushing down the bloodstream feels like.
can you imagine a ton of people having a pistol in their pockets, holsters or wherever and running around you?and how do you know, who´s the bad one and who is the one with the ccw permit trying to send some rounds back to the badguy?i think, guns at home are ok, but on the street only cops should have them.
Simulation and practice makes for a better response in the event, but it doesn't give you the same level of adrenaline.
To answer the second part, I can imagine a ton of people with pistols in their pockets, happens everytime I teach the NRA basic pistol course at the range.
I've never heard of a CCW holder engaging a target, and simultaniously taking out numerous innocent bystanders. Reason for that is, it just doesnt happen:)
Totally agree with you. Also, I think it would be easy to determine good from bad. How? If you're setting in class and a gunman (or gunmen) enter and start shooting..........those are the bad guys.
True CCW holders don't go looking for trouble. It's a defensive weapon only.
GLOCK 21; 30; 36 Slim in .45 ACP and GLOCK 37; 38; 39 in .45 GAP are biggest caliber, but most powerful load is probably: GLOCK 20 and 29 - 10 mm AUTO caliber.
Thanks for the video. It was a very good look at the glock 19. I have been trying to decide what 9mm to get and your video gave a great all around look at the glock. I think I may get the glock 19 after all. I've been looking at the HK P30, Beretta Px4, CZ 75, Springfield XD9 etc. I can get a new one for $499 which seems like a good price. How do you like the trigger action on the glock? Can you make followup shots fast and accurately?
Yes trigger action is good, but for target shooting I would choose another weapon like CZ and so on or try little tuning of trigger on GLOCK. But yes, you can shoot fast and accurately, depends on distance and capability of shooter. I ussualy shoot very fast in distance 5 meters (5,47 yards) on "FBI style" target and usually all shots are pointed very well :-) For target shooting, I was very impressed by CZ-75 SP-01 Shadow.
Thanks. I am loking to replace my 1911 with the glock as my primary home defense pistol and to use in my CCW qualifying. From a self-defense perspective, you are happy with the glock? My friend at the local gun store switches between the beretta px4 and the glock 19, but hen asked which he woul dchoose if he could only own one, he chooses the glock hands down.
That's why I chose GLOCK, because of pure simplicity. The small number of parts, very straight using. In some very stress situation when you have to use gun to protect your live, some people like me appreciate the "just pull the trigger" system. Factory-brand jacket ammo or factory reloaded FMJ ammo is also possible. I don't want to shoot anything else thru my GLOCK. SIG SAUER maybe rules over the GLOCK, but for the at least two times higher price :-)
Own more pistols, no problem at all! I do and Glock always evokes a warm feeling of certainity and reliability around my chest, cause I know I have it in my safe. ;)
Dont you just love how us glock guys think that the sig and the glock are both great guns, and the sig crowd says that the glocks are junk. lol I like and own both but I like my glocks reliability!
If you want to carry it concealed, you probably want a compact or subcompact. The 9mm Luger is a good cartridge for a beginner, especially if you weigh under 150 lbs! :P
From my point of view is more reliable G19 than HK USP Compact. Because USP has bigger recoil and trigger is not so friendly. And USP has more parts than GLOCK. Weight of USP Compact 9 is 750g (26.46 oz.) and GLOCK 19 weight is 595g (21 oz.) both with empty magazine. So my recommendation is GLOCK.
Glocks are serious fighting pistols. Desert Eagles are clunky, nasty pimp toys for people with poor taste and not enough gun knowledge to realize that, if you want a big bore magnum handgun, a Smith & Wesson .44 Mag revolver is five times the gun any DE could ever dream of being -- smooth, accurate, precision trigger (unlike DEs), 100% reliable (unlike DEs), easier to carry, fine ergonomics (DE is a brick).
DE are pretty much hand cannons, crazy recoil and the size of a hyundai. i like the glock 19, it depends if u want quality over quanity if u know what i mean..

you dont need a different barrel you can polish yours to a mirror finish by yourself.
1 soak barrel in vinigar for 1 to 2 hrs
2 then put baking soda in vinigar let soak 10 min
3 take barrel out wipe off wet sand withat least 100grit
4 use mothers mag wheel polihh and a dremel w/a polishing wheel thii desired polishing level is reached
ps you can skip the wet sanding and just use the mothers and dremel polishing wheel

glocks have 3 safeties, but they arent conventional trigger stopping safeties, essentially, if your finger pulls the trigger, it will fire.
there is much debate on if this is good or bad, but you can look at both sides of the argument and make your own decision
mynameisjoe182 3 years ago
could you tell me about these ( safeties) as far as I can tell keeping it unloaded is the only safety feature .

ha , i have one of these ! 2 mags , case and a speed loader , for five hundred bucks at academy sports and outdoors , i cant wait to get back from iraq to shoot it again , plus i ordered a stainless steel spring and guiderod for it , cost 40 bucks but better than the plastic one
ddriverflood 3 years ago
This one is probably the best one for self defence, but remember kids, it's not a toy, even if it looks like one. ;)

I paid around 1000 USD, I got extra magazine, Fobus holster and some ammo.
vdudak 3 years ago
1000 USD? Jesus, how much ammo did you get with it? Or is it just due to where you live that it was so expensive?
alterack 3 years ago
I'm from Czech Republic. We have borders directly with Austria where the GLOCK is made. It's about 2 hours of driving from my city to GLOCK factory :-) But prices in our country are just insane. I got around 200 rounds of ammo with gun :-/ For brand new GLOCK 17/19 from gunstore you have to pay 1150 USD.
vdudak 3 years ago
Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear that lol. Even at the most overpriced gunstores in town I can still grab one for like 550! Oh well, at least you can still own em yah know? Keep on shooting, keep the fight!
alterack 3 years ago
What's the difference between the 3rd generation GLock 19 and the 2nd generation?
misterchuckle 3 years ago
Frame - the grip and rail for mount light or laser and so on. Just googl it and you'll find differences :-)
vdudak 3 years ago
3rd generation has the light/accessory rail and also the finger grooves.
2nd generation does not have the light/accessory rail or the finger grooves.
I might be wrong, but I think the 3rd generations might have a "drop free" magwell which means it should allow the magazines to drop clear from the pistol when released. There might also be a difference of an ambidextrous mag release.
Cosmetics though, the only differences are the rails and finger grooves.
angusranch 3 years ago
you can buy a Glock for about 500 dollars.
alterack 3 years ago
im a brit and we arent allowed handguns even the normal police aren't but wats the differents between the glock 17 and the glock 19?
skiingmad101 3 years ago
the glock 17 is a normal size 9mm handgun and the glock 19 is a compact version of it, which means its smaller.
bear1000 3 years ago
Yes, it's red plastic dummy bullet for "dry" training.
vdudak 3 years ago
Dude im totally gonna buy a Glock 19 when i turn 21. You never know what dangers you might get in in college lol.
torterra619 3 years ago
I agree :-) Weapons in US college soil? It's prohibited right? But I see you want to protect your life.
vdudak 3 years ago
They're passing laws in some states to allow concealed carry on college campuses. You need your CCW permit, but still, it's nice.
alterack 3 years ago
you don´t need a gun on a campus!and someone who is not experienced in adrenalin-pushing-situations should better try to run instad of pulling a gun;)
Nudelsalatbomber 3 years ago
Lol well I'm sure if the students who died at V-tech had the option, they'd of conceal carried a handgun that day.
Besides, no one is ever experienced in an adrenaline shooting experience until it happens, does that mean we should stop arming our Police Officers and Soldiers?
If someone takes a CCW class and practices with their pistol, they have the right to defend their life with it.
alterack 3 years ago
why thumbs down for me?
cops are trained during the academy and the first day they hit the street, they know what adrenaline rushing down the bloodstream feels like.
can you imagine a ton of people having a pistol in their pockets, holsters or wherever and running around you?and how do you know, who´s the bad one and who is the one with the ccw permit trying to send some rounds back to the badguy?i think, guns at home are ok, but on the street only cops should have them.
Nudelsalatbomber 3 years ago
I didn't give you the thumbs down if it helps:)
Reason for that is, it just doesnt happen:)
alterack 3 years ago
Totally agree with you. Also, I think it would be easy to determine good from bad. How? If you're setting in class and a gunman (or gunmen) enter and start shooting..........those are the bad guys.
True CCW holders don't go looking for trouble. It's a defensive weapon only.

Yahp. Good on yah buddy, well said.

Which Glock Has Tha Highest Caliber?
pyroloc 3 years ago

Can you make followup shots fast and accurately?
sidddharthha 3 years ago
Yes trigger action is good, but for target shooting I would choose another weapon like CZ and so on or try little tuning of trigger on GLOCK. But yes, you can shoot fast and accurately, depends on distance and capability of shooter. I ussualy shoot very fast in distance 5 meters (5,47 yards) on "FBI style" target and usually all shots are pointed very well :-) For target shooting, I was very impressed by CZ-75 SP-01 Shadow.
vdudak 3 years ago
Thanks. I am loking to replace my 1911 with the glock as my primary home defense pistol and to use in my CCW qualifying. From a self-defense perspective, you are happy with the glock? My friend at the local gun store switches between the beretta px4 and the glock 19, but hen asked which he woul dchoose if he could only own one, he chooses the glock hands down.
sidddharthha 3 years ago
From a self defence point of view, yes I'm happy with GLOCK because of very straight use in stress situation. And low possibility of failure.
vdudak 3 years ago
Thanks, I appreciate the info.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Glock is nice, but, Forgive me if I sound insulting, It's kinda the pistol for idiots. I mean, the Glock has basically two rules
1. Pull the trigger
2. Use only new, Factory-brand jacketed ammo
SIG SAUER RULES!
OverHedge99 3 years ago
That's why I chose GLOCK, because of pure simplicity. The small number of parts, very straight using. In some very stress situation when you have to use gun to protect your live, some people like me appreciate the "just pull the trigger" system. Factory-brand jacket ammo or factory reloaded FMJ ammo is also possible. I don't want to shoot anything else thru my GLOCK. SIG SAUER maybe rules over the GLOCK, but for the at least two times higher price :-)
vdudak 3 years ago
I've got a GLOCK 19 TALO (the 'pimpish' limited edition with mirror finished slide), Sig Sauer P239 that I use as a carry gun. I love them both.
lulzmaster 3 years ago
Right, because streamlined simplification for the benefit of the user is the hallmark of an idiotic gun manufacturer, right?
It's sycophants like you that give Sig owners a bad name.
W2YP 3 years ago
Own more pistols, no problem at all! I do and Glock always evokes a warm feeling of certainity and reliability around my chest, cause I know I have it in my safe. ;)
spherixis 3 years ago 2
Dont you just love how us glock guys think that the sig and the glock are both great guns, and the sig crowd says that the glocks are junk. lol I like and own both but I like my glocks reliability!

dude get a glock 17 aight. happy shooting.
cyberlasvegas 3 years ago
If you want to carry it concealed, you probably want a compact or subcompact. The 9mm Luger is a good cartridge for a beginner, especially if you weigh under 150 lbs! :P
amyleeforgottensoul 3 years ago
depending on yur aim and body mass theres a gun for everyone
i say get a magnum if yur a good shot
if not then just get a regular 9mm handgun if its for self defense from an intruder...

wts a more reliable gun a glock 19 or the usp
l51ckl 4 years ago
From my point of view is more reliable G19 than HK USP Compact. Because USP has bigger recoil and trigger is not so friendly. And USP has more parts than GLOCK. Weight of USP Compact 9 is 750g (26.46 oz.) and GLOCK 19 weight is 595g (21 oz.) both with empty magazine. So my recommendation is GLOCK.

Whats the name of the song. Its kinda funky.
HotSlimShady 4 years ago
It's John Paul Jones, album: ZOOMA, Song: Bass 'N' Drums. And yes, it's not porn music how it's called by some people here :-)
vdudak 4 years ago
would anyone trust a glock with their life over a desert eagle
l51ckl 4 years ago
Dude, that's a silly comment.
But less common in rap videos, I'll grant that.
classof77 4 years ago 2
DE are pretty much hand cannons, crazy recoil and the size of a hyundai. i like the glock 19, it depends if u want quality over quanity if u know what i mean..
