LOVED IT! I lived right behind the Beefeater/Beefcarver in Madison Heights. {Right in my back yard!} Loved their Roast Beef on an onion roll and coleslaw! And those great Apple dumplings with the cheddar cheese!! Yummy!
The Beefcarver is my sanctuary. My Grandpa Joliat started the restaurant over 50 years ago. I was basically raised on that food, basically everyday. Square Lake and Telegraph or Royal Oak where my two of choice. I always get the same thing....Double Order of Roast Beef, gravy, mac and cheese, cottage cheese, a wheat roll, and oooohhhhh the best chocolate cake on Earth. I LOVE YAH GRANDPA.
not Beefcarver....it was called the Sign of the BeefEATER I worked there from 1973 - 1975 at the West Bloomfield store....Don Healy, Triumph...Mark Leto, Dodge Van with the shag carpet.....guitar...where are you> Free Pickles and beets....met my wife there and now married 36 years..... West Bloomfield....Dave Kreeger and Fawn
beefcarver is NOT the name....it WAS Beefeater...I worked there from 1973 to 1975 in the West Bloomfield store and the reason the name changed is a lawsuit to Montgomery Ward (the owners John Joliat and Robert LaJoie sold it in the early 70's).... owner from Beefeater Gin . It was cool to get a 10% discount on everything at Montgomery Wards, and my bosses and I had MGs, Triumph (Don Healy, where are you now) & selling veggies to make extra on the bill... plus, the free beets and dill pickles!
