Well I've downloaded hundreds of games (literally) but this one I bought because it was totally worth the money - it is a masterpiece in graphics and gameplay, one of the best games ever made, runs perfectly on my PC plus it has great multiplayer. I'm very happy with it.
I'm thinking of recording and uploading some GTA IV gameplay with my camera demonstrating how awesomely it runs and of course, what a beautiful game it is!
This video is without the latest drivers and patch... It currrently runs at High-Very High settings and the rest at 40/80/60/16 with 35 or more FPS now when I'm outdoors!
I understand some people can play this game fine, but that does not mean the game isn't buggy for running as badly as it does. As for the requirements, rockstar out right lied about them.
I definitely agree with you on Rockstar totally bullshiting us about the requirements, at least now they're trying to fix this... A 7900 can now get playable results for example... But yeah it's running perfectly for me, just like all my games...
You do not need a watercooler if you've got a powerful CPU fan. That's the case with me, I overclocked from 2.40Ghz to 3.00Ghz with absolutely no heat or instability problems due to my CPU fan being very powerful.
I'm not totally sure how you can check your fan's rpm speed. Have you got any booklets that came with your CPU? I read that the stock one isn't enough though.
Oh and if I remember correctly you've got 300W. I'm not sure it iwll be enough if you overclock.
YOU ARE NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS! After OCing my Q6600 to 3.00Ghz, upgrading to a total of 4GB RAM 800Mhz and upgrading to the new nVidia drivers, I AVERAGED 57 FPS (YES, 57FPS) WITH GTA IV! IT RUNS AS SMOOTH AS BUTTER NOW!!! =]
Well, no wonder. You have a QUAD CORE CPU. Of course the game is going to run just fine. For the rest of us who don't have behemoth overpowered CPU's, we don't stand a chance with this game.
You do actually. I mean, it won't be as good as this, but if you overclock your CPU to 3.5Ghz (if you have the experience to do this) then you'd get pretty great performance. I believe.
Metallica are freaking awesome... and especially their new album, Death Magnetic, is one of their best ever! I like each and every one of their songs!
Yo, this is my setup: C2D E6750 @ stock 2.66 GHz 2 GB of 800 MHz RAM 8800 GTS 640 mb OC'd (675/1680/1063) Once I get my 2 x 4 GB RAM sticks will I be able to play at: 1440x900 rez textures: medium render: highest (or high, they don't look very different) view distance: 30 vehicle distance: 30 detail distance: 30 shadow density: 3 Any replies are appreciated.
You might as well not need MemTurbo if you have that much RAM but try it anyway because I heard that even if one has 4GB RAM, GTA IV consumes it eventually after a while.
I love this game. One thing is fix your description, it says "Intel Core2Duo QuadCore Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz [=9.6 Ghz total](not overclocked)" It says 9.6Ghz, quad cores or dual cores for that matter dont add up. They divide the processing so no core gets to stressed.(I am nitpicky about these kind of things=P)
Yeah it's pretty f'cking awesome! I've never seen such good video recording and display, and the camera's 5mpxls. Not to mention the sound quality which is in-fucking-credible! :)
i would be happy too when i would be nvidia video card owner when playing gta iv cause rockstar was bought by nvidia and it doesnt even support crossfire :D
Actually I've seen it stuttering a lot on many 4870x2's too...
Well it's true that they didn't optimized it too well... but it doesn't really matter to me since I can play it so well. It has never crashed, I have never had any texture issues, and it hardly ever stutters, so I'm quite happy with it :)
how do you get it?

I hope the "XD" means that you're joking because I didn't speed up the video - or any video for that matter. That would be ridiculous.

you see i play this game with a amd dual core 4600+...and it caps my 8800gtx lol
konamattrules 3 years ago
Yeah, the Q6600 would definitely help your 8800GTX because the truth is it's quite a powerful card.
(PS: Plz don't forget to tell me, when you can, how the card was overclocked so highly)

JustStayDown8800 3 years ago
It's around 40-50 degrees Celsius.
That depends on your CPU fan being fast. If you tell me what's its max rpm speed I might be able to tell you.
Mine's 100% stable, overclocked from 2.40Ghz to 3.00Ghz.
JustStayDown8800 3 years ago
Nope. I just have a pretty good fan for the CPU installed which let me overclock the CPU easily.

By the way, do you like Metallica?

JustStayDown8800 3 years ago
with highest renders, I have the game but was wondering how much the ram affects the game as a whole
firestormcomputers 3 years ago
Well if you have less than 3GB the game starts causing memory leaks after a while, which equals system instability, thus A LOT of lag.
That's why I downloaded MeMTurbo, a fantastic software that prevents memory leaks, so I can play perfectly now.
JustStayDown8800 3 years ago
I will get MemTurbo then, and my 4 GB of RAM is coming tomorrow, along with my new monitor and MoH: Airborne

You might as well not need MemTurbo if you have that much RAM but try it anyway because I heard that even if one has 4GB RAM, GTA IV consumes it eventually after a while.

not maxed i want my game to run maxed it does on my core 2 duo with 20 fps so it should on a quad :(
taltigolt 3 years ago
I plan to max it as soon as I get my additional 2GB ram 800Mhz because the game just eats up all of my memory.
I have tried maxing it out and I get pretty much 30 fps.

nice vid mate. 1 small suggestion, Q6600@2.4 Ghz is very much different than a single processor running at 9.6Ghz. he he
glyoxal 3 years ago
Well the thing is that there isn't a single processor that can run at 9.6Ghz unless you take it to the north pole and bury it deep in the ocean :)
