Well your tutorial is great and i wanted to ask you if you could help me bit.

I wanted to create a picture with me standing but the background should be simple kinda the battlefield Bad company 2 theme and me pretty dark and at some places in flames. Maybe you have a look in google for some Battlefield bad company 2 pics or Battlefield 3 :)

When you did colorize on the image, it had the exact same effect as making the image black/white (gray scale). Instead of black/white, a black/cyan was used.

Gimp.org has a user manual that takes you through each of the functions if you wanna start at the very beginning. You could google 'Grokking the Gimp' for a more tutorial-based e-book (It claims to be advanced, but it isn't really).

Failing that, I've made about 40 tutorials ranging from absolute basics to slightly harder stuff, and other Youtubers like Enselic, GimpKnowHow, GimpTricks make pretty good tutorials too.

i tried it too, but a little bit different... Heres how i did it.

1. Take a picture with ur webcam.

2. Cut ur face out (yeah, my background dindnt really looked good)

3. put it on a red background (y dont have to make the face white cuz its pasted)

4. use the tresold thing (yeah, skip the colorizing!)

5. put the two layers together

and thats it!

@Cutt1994 you can invert the selection through the menus too. I think it is under edit, but that is from memory...have a look through the menus to find it. It is not the invert function under 'Colors' though, as this inverts the color of the selection, not the selection.
