  • I am from Puerto Rico, I saw Mister frisky race live in Puerto Rico a few times and what a horse. We all remember him here in the island. Its been almost 20 years and no horse have come close to be like him. I love you Mister frisky!

  • I love Mister Frisky. He shut a lot of people up after this win.

  • Unfortunately, because of the tumor, we never got to see how good Mister Frisky was, how he stacked up w/ Summer Squall and Unbridled. Gary Stevens thought the tumor was already affecting him in the Santa Anita Derby, ranking the San Rafael higher. And Laz Barrera was no dummy; he was a Hall of Fame trainer and was around some of the best horses ever. Barrera thought Frisky was just as good as Bold Forbes and behind only Affirmed. He was baffled by Frisky's Triple Crown;the tumor explained alot

  • I do remember being very upset that we never got to see him show what he could really do. That was unfortunate. But he still left a lot of good memories. :)

  • Mr Frisky, what a horse, they found out later, after the Preakness, that he has a tumor in his throat.

  • You are absolutely correct.History has written off Mister Frisky as this anomaly, or fluke after his poor showings in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness(3rd,but well beaten). However,he was shown to have a grapefruit size tumor in his throat shortly after the Preakness.Unbridled and Summer Squall were very good 3 year olds and may have been better than Mister Frisky anyways, but the gap wasnt as great as in the Triple Crown. The tumor had to be affecting him;Gary Stevens thought he was ill this race

  • Mister Frisky. What a Horse!!!!

  • this was the third year i worked at S.A. - the memories of the Also-Rans ... wow. thanks for posting this!!

  • I've always thought this race to be the best call of Trevor Denman's career-and I hadn't seen it since it happened 17 years ago. Been looking for this clip for a while. Anybody got the '89 Strub (Nasr el Arab?)

  • Brilliant call. If Tom Durkin is the most dramatically descriptive of current race callers, Trevor Denman has the sport's steadiest vocal pacing. Racing is privileged to have them both. (And Denman showed onions declaring Mister Frisky's win in the stretch call.)

  • Thnx Dingerz!!! Long time Ive been looking for this video being from Puerto Rico always wanted to see Mr. Frisky's biggest win!!! good stuff ;)

  • 16 wins in a row..spectacular!

  • What a romp!
