  • @paralyz3r00- i hear ya man, the music is good but he sounds drunk off his ass ha!

  • the BEST version I've heard , FOR SURE!

  • This is the most souless, vanilla, piece of shit version of this song that I have ever heard. Absolute garbage.

  • I didnt understand a single word he said

  • Is that Candi Dulfer on the sax????

  • i just love when the drums come in

  • Eric hit #26 in Billboard, 12-7-74. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Is that Gilson Lavis on drums?

  • Too soft. George Thorogood version is far better.

  • I am in college for CNC Machinary operation and my teacher said "Ok tap the Hand Jog button" and one of my classmates, and older gentlemen, was like "Hhaaand Jivee!" I busted out Lawlin.

  • This song doesn't sound suss at all...

  • I love that sax

  • <3 you are love

  • Hey! That's BO Didley tune!

  • johnny otis is best

  • @hah13 Second that. This is nothing vs J Otis.

  • Cool version very cool... sax is excellent.....

  • That London putz got his own jet airplane, that London putz he's is a millionaire...

That's the way you do it...

  • kinda reminds me of bo diddley

  • @jimbyrne528 you probably never picked up a guiter yourself, so you have no clue what you are saying. Poor sod!

  • @jimbyrne528 If you don't like it, don't watch it.

  • @jimbyrne528 YOu fucking stupid sack of shit don't know nothing about playing guitar! SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SIT ON A DICK!

  • It's Jools Holland's band with Eric Clapton.

  • that's jools holland on piano!

Una consulta, ¿que concierto es este?

  • You forgot to Tag Jools Holland on piano

  • erick is 1 of the best, love ya

  • Love this rendition of the Johnny Otis classic! The sax is an added bonus!

  • geart song keep rocking

  • rock on

  • Could not even tell you how long I have wanted to here this>>>>>>>

  • loves

  • Is that Candy Dulfer on sax??? Cool rendition!

  • @Lloydhl Sounds like a harmonica - very tasty solo!

  • To slow.

  • EC looks like Phil Lesh in this video.

  • Dude, Jools is always smiling when he's playing, esp on his smokin TV gig on Ovation, when he often plays with bands.

  • my dad... always used to listen to this wen he was sad :-*^D

  • does eric sing on ocean boulevard to?

  • where did all the energy go?! the original is so lively and energetic. this version is so smoothed out that it almost comes across limp and flacid.

    Cue Clapton apologists in 5-4-3-2-and.......

  • It's an adaption of it, I'm not apologizing for Clapton, it just has a different more relaxed feel.

  • @CakesOfGravy he was probably on coke when he recorded it

  • Notice in the first chorus Clapton accidentally goes to an E chord instead of a D? You can see the keyboardist smiling about it... Even god makes mistakes:)

  • One of the few times I ever seen Jools Holland smile and enjoy himself while tickling the ivory's :)

  • Clapton is god!! also George Thorogood does a sweet version too.

  • Don't miss the original by The Johnny Otis Show.

  • Thumbs up fer sure

  • i love this song i never heard it before. iam going to learn it and do it in my next music show recital in the jeff denny music school in shirley long island ..,white eagle

  • here is an easy way to learn it for you.. Slide from a Gmaj Barre chord to the A...thats the main part then play a barre Cmaj, which is under it and slide to the D which is under the A.. then just listen a few times.. its a great song.

  • this is great !! rock on ec !!!

  • funky soul blues its all there... music is timeless -mg

  • Sounds like he's saying "Manjina"

  • he is great

  • Jimmy Nolen played guitar on the original. He went on to be James Brown's guitarist and was the originator of funk.

  • Eric just seems kind of low-energy here. That riff should be a killer.

  • he's gettin old... but still a great guitarist.

  • This is clapton covering the original lyrics by Johnny Otis performed in the 1950's

  • totally destroyed the original. but I'm not complaining, this ones pretty sweet

  • I just love that guitar riff.

  • Wow, I just listened to this song because I've got to learn it for a gig. I can't believe some of the lame and stupid comments that go with these videos. My advice: listen to the music and ignore the mournfully pathetic and exceptionally ignorant feedback from those who think they know it all and can only voice their opinions with vulgarity and shock value.

  • good advice :p

  • Very well said. I made comments along the same lines for one of EC's other vid's.

  • sorry! I just knocked off one of your "thums up's" when I wanted to add another. You rock!

  • love this song

  • The Shadows version is way better

  • i cant watch this video

    great vid vk

  • anyone know if that's Jools Holland on piano?

  • Ya i think it is.

  • Efectivamente es Jools Holland al piano, gran músico.Muy buena versión de Hand Jive,éso si para mí es mejor la de Johnny Otis.

  • It is, mhmm.

  • willie and millie got married lasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst fall

  • I love this song

  • Best? I love people telling others that their idea if the best guitarists is wrong. Why don't you tell me what my favorite color is.

If those of you who "know" who is the best guitarists is would just tell me what the criteria is I might just believe you.

Honestly of all the great music I have listened to I can't imagine saying who I even think is best for me. Sometimes....after a long cold winter on a really warm day....after a few cocktails....Jimmy Buffet is the best gutarists.

  • @chucufarley - That's a stretch...LOL :D but I love your point -

  • I LOVE ERIC AND I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Love Clepton, but he looks kinda tired here

  • I would put Buddy Guy against hendrix any day. And if you want to talk about the best guitarist...? I would consider it to be Gilmour from Pink Floyd. If you haven't heard "delicate sound of thunder" I suggest you do and then make your dission...

  • PYEPYE7- i don't really care if you don't like clapton. you're probably one of 12 people in the world who thinks he's a bad guitarist. You talk hendrix up so freakin much that its embarassing. he was not the best guitarist to walk the earth. he was ahead of his time but any half decent guitarist can plug in two distrtion pedals and a wah and play the pentatonic minors and you'd get a vintage hendrix sound/tone. no guitarists keep score on each other. they're all on the same level, recognize

  • WHO9ER - your 'observation' is irrelevant! Hendrix was 40 years ago and at that time you could not buy the Hendrix tone! So where did he get it from then?

40 years later a whole industry is still cashing in on him. Do you get it? He was a bloody original cat setting a standard for generations to come. Your argument with the fuzz boxes is showing that you did not get it at all. You're not tuned in. The doors are closed for you - like for most people on this rediculous planet! Disqualified! Fact!

  • i really don't think you know dick all about what you're saying. go play halo dumbass

  • clearly i have no ears and no brain, thats why im listening to music and functioning, wtf are you talking about mental ghetto? and unless you're some type of musician then you can't really say shit, but you're not, you're a dumbmass on youtube trying to be cool.

  • taildragger51..and they wouldn't let Jimi Hendrix into certain hotels in Germany:'The Wild Man From Borneo! '. Scared to death! Visualize Jimi with SS leather coat as his top outfit, he could have picked up a sample at Portobello Rd/Notting Hill.Other than that, Jimi went down a storm in G. Happened to hang out at his dressing room in Cologne in '69 when Monica Dannemann, the cigar heroine (cigar importer family) approached him. I should have known!

That's why we're plagued with Craptones today!

  • Let's make it simple: If Craptone had taken Stevie's copter we wouldn't have to discuss all this. Something's gotta give! It's Steve Ray Vaughan who matters out of the two if it comes to blues shit. Craptone is an uptight English Chicago Blues Imitator who got lucky 'cause for some reason people wanna see a middle class ex-junkie in a suit they can identify with. Poor suckers out there! Getyaown gittar out and hit Craptone over his head, you paralitic babies, you! If only Hendrix could be here!

  • dude, clapton is a great guitarist and anyone who doesn't think so can not be taken seriously at all. SRV is good but his style is too close to shredders. if only hendrix was here? give me a break the guy used two fuzz boxes and a filtered wah, too much effects=garbage. you must not play guitar. clapton is great, you know nothing about music. And every post you sound even more pretentious. clapton is terrible yea right, good luck trying to convince others join the latter day saints jerk

  • WHO9ER-Ok,you're showing not having any taste, feel, whatsoever, going for the lamest guitarist on the planet in relation to hype. Why do you think Craptone started crawling for Jimi's trail after Hendrix had joined Cream on stage within his first days in the UK in '66 showing the boys where the blues shit and passion was coming from. Craptone (w. one of the first fuzzboxes in the UK) is a an overrated sideshow like Madonna, Britney and the rest of the pop puppets. It's Ginger & Bruce who mattered!

  • PyePye7; Everybody treats Clapton like a saint because he built the "Crossroads" Clinic. There is a BIG drug problem in the UK. He didn't build it in ENGLAND where he's from, he builds it in friggin' Antigua because you have to be RICH to attend THIS place! It's not for the working class Brit or yank.

He's cut from the same cloth as Mick Jagger. i.e. he's an egocentric poser.

  • taildragger51-Jagger! Him and Richards at Madison Sq. Gdn. doing the 'let's pray for the soldiers/hard working people/salt of the Earth' crap and-by dismantling the pretentious noise of these bankers! The 'heroes of the rocknroll revolution' are a snake pit of insincerity of human slime!

As usual, the cows who are drowning in the mud of their own stupidity choose their own butchers! In the meantime..working on Clapton's customised helicopter to hell..! That sleaze bag is overdue!

  • PyePye3; There were alot of posers that grew up in the UK. I was at an concert at a club in Oxford St around 1966. The Stones, Manfredd Mann, John Mayall etc were topping the bill..at the BOTTOM were Sonny Boy Williamson & John Lee Hooker! When JLH came on the white girls were saying "who's this sweaty nigger??..get him off and put Brian Jones back on". I tell you, it's unbelievable!

  • PyePyeHole- WTF middle class ex junkie?? What makes you think hendrix wasn't a junkie?? BTW clapton was giving hendrix "gittar" lessons before his death..

  • To those who are bashing Eric C. If you can remember the 60's with the LSD, cocaine, and booze, be thankful this man is still alive. He in his older years has cleaned up his act and trying to show the younger generation anyone can change. I'm sure people are telling Eric just being on stage is of great importance, and I too see him not preforming as he did in his younger years, but again just remember what he's been through.. there is a God and Eric's life testifies to that...

  • happy04346; Saw Eric first in 1966. A friend of mine approached him for his autograph..Eric signed it "GOD"! No. Eric is NO authority on Blues. People THINK he is but he's just another pop star.("Wonderful Tonight"?? Jeeze, come on, give me a break!) Johnny Winter is a much more authentic Bluesman than Eric ever will be. Eric has got rich playing the same two licks for 40 yrs.

  • Clapton rocks but this isn't Johnny Otis. That song is supposed to be R&B it's too slow and mellow in this version.

  • i like this one, his voice is nicer. makes is more blues-y. ^-^

  • Was that delay or reverb I heard on the opening chord?????

  • bit of both

  • Arklowbank-the reverb was, indeed, delayed - based on the size of the performance hall.

  • if he sucks so much why did you waste your time to type that or even to search for this video?

  • get a clue anyone who says clapton is crap obviously doesn't know the blues or music in general. don't be such a traditionalistic bitch

  • Here we go again...Craptone! is the traditionalistic bitch with nothing new between his fingers for 40 years! As an ex-groupie of Jimi Hendrix he should be happy to be placed into Madame Tousaud's wax figure cabinet, London/UK/Baker Street direction Hall of Shame, better Hall of Horrors right next to Adolf Hitler! Go and look for some real hot guitar cat out there if you don't wanna bore yourself to death, you bloody tasteless uninformed hopeless mormon religious deranged believers out there!

  • PyePye7; Yes, he definitely wouldn't look out of place next to Sir Oswald Moseleys statue! Remember Clapton's racist tirades in 1976? I was at those concerts.( i went to actually see Freddie King, the black Bluesman)

Clapton never apologised for shouting "wogs out! Support the NF!!". Plus he was on tour with a legendary BLACK Blues guitarist! Clapton's a pretentious, overrated idiot whohas earned millions under false pretenses.

  • taildragger5-You're Spot On! In a desert full of the blind&deaf Craptone Scientology Believers© alias USA-Kindergarden Mickey Mouse Mentality who've chosen the worst example of an 'idol' (if you beat them long enough over their heads and penetrate their insecurity levels they start to believe in Craptoneism)..so far about the human psyche at times. These blind believers have found their counterpart and hold on to it like an old smelly carpet! Common sense and/or intellect on youtube: No way!

  • PyePye7; Alot of people on here THINK the Blues originated with Clapton, Richards,Jagger and John Mayer! The media has always looked for "pretty boys" in Versace suits to fill the space left by Elvis Presley. You see, Albert King, Otis Rush,Magic Sam,Earl Hooker,Little Milton etc just don't look as nice. They should check out a guy who'd melt Clapton into the ground i.e. Kirk Eli Fletcher! But then Kirk's a modest gentleman.

  • what the fuck? is this a national geografic special on Youtube? because your talking like your an expert on youtube comments... but really you're a douchebag with nothing better to do then to try and sound smart while watching willie and the hand jive

  • WHO9ER-There is a Gary Moore (an example for the blind ones), a blues guitarist from Ireland. He's got 1000% more integrity and feeling than any Craptones around. Of course, he does not subcribe to the Blues Lite Brigade and hasn't been declared a legend yet. Therefore the blind can't see him because they ain't got ears to listen!

  • i bet you like Milli Vanilli you punk ass junkie lover.

  • pyepye7-i bet you like Milli Vanilli you punk ass junkie lover.

  • yes, i do like cheese.

  • Absolute sonic crime: Why listen to Clapton Crap when there is the original version by Johnny Otis (1957).

Clapton as 3rd rate interpreter/lame duck & a disgrace for anybody who can feel the fire/soul of any original R&B which EC is trying to kill. Eric Craptone: Stay at home, count your money and shut up! His fans: No help being offered!

  • shut your pye hole

  • mspupten - you're disqualified, same as all the other tasteless, uninformed Clapton illusionists! And you cannot be helped! If some other dummy would be up there playing the exact same lame noises Clapton does - you would completely

ignore it! And you know why...

  • Not only are you killing me with your thoughts on Clapton (and scientology), but your also right on the money (LOL). When i saw him live with Bonnie Raitt, two things were apparent: 1) Bonnie out-performed him 10-1, 2) I have never heard such un-attached, un-emotional, I-don't-give-a-shit playing from anyone, let alone this alleged Rock God. No offense to Erics fans, but if you've seen Stevie (RIP), or Beck ( when hes on), you'll understand what I'm saying.

  • It's the same problem all these celebs have and that is they believe what is written about them.

Clapton is a fine player and that is all.

  • i didn't mean to bash him so hard because he is a very, very talented man, no question. but you look at the Cream vids, or the dominoes vids, or Rory Gallagher vids, or SRV vids etc, and these guys look like they'd make love to their guitar's if they could. Eric just doesn't look like he gives shit (he use to) ... maybe thats his style .. Maybe its age .. I dunno. Still a legend.

  • Cliff and the Shadows version is much better!!

  • Uh... then go and listen to the "Cliff and the Shadows" version, Arklowbank. And stop commenting on the Eric Clapton postings. God, nothing pisses me off more than people who state their opinions as fact. Please, take it elsewhere and let us enjoy Eric. Ok, Fool?

  • Many thank your well written reply ARSEHOLE!!

  • phralmulo; If YOU have a problem with rejection then go have a wank over E.C. or go live in friggin' Russia! WE are free to comment HOWEVER we feel.

  • Bo Diddley !

  • And of course, Cliff And The Shadows recorded too.

  • watch?v=D2sfelvHAlU

    Lame noise my dick

  • Don't diss Clapton. Sure he's not the best but he's knows a lot more than what you would know about rock and roll. So give him so credit since that is the least that he deserves!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't be hatin' on the Clapton

  • I agree that clapton is an excellent player.

  • yeah the recorded version is much better. this one sucks

  • Why u hating on the fella?? no one will ever be like Johnny Otis or Bo Diddley and many more but he is doing his best and proved he is good! I second with you I didn't like this one either but again at least he is trying!way better than millions of corny anuses who invaded today's music scenes

  • I tell you something? you a discriminating fool! man you don't know shit about music I tell you, don't u ever think you know toooo much about music to the extend that you are tooooo cocky to admit that a half british half canadian crack head can play good blues too.

  • by the way , speaking of originality even Johnny Otis himself was not so original about this tone!. Read your music history well before u gives us shit.

  • Clapton is half of the reason today's rock is the way it is. I have researched Clapton more than a lot of people.

By the way, if you don't like the blues rock, don't watch the video

  • Oh please, PyePye7. Just shut the hell up. Clapton lost his fire in '69? Please, O-Guru-of-Rock-and-Roll, show us what YOU have done that outdoes Eric Clapton. I'd wager you've nothing to post. Seriously, Idiot, stop talking. If you hold so much disdain for Clapton, why are you here listening? You are envious -- that is why. And you know it. That is why he pisses you off so much. Please, go back into the self-loathing hole you crawled out of and leave the rest of us well-adjusted people alone.

  • phralmulo-the well adjusted but clueless participator - caught all in his own illusion! Clapton took the wrong 'copter in the '90. He was supposed to take Stevie Ray Vaughan's and got away once more. To see how he sucks&sucks again check out Jeff Beck's live CD/Ronnie Scotts Club/London Nov 07 where E.C. joints at some point - a blues robotic/ uninspiring annoying character who just does not want to go away! And you know it! That's why you're so pissed off!

  • *yawn* Uh... yeah. Ok. Whatever you said. I'm not sure anyone understands quite what you meant through your ganja-induced rant. Typical however... you were unable to answer the direct question I asked. Ni ni, PyePye...

  • phralmulo- don't take it all to seriously - that youtube "I state my opinion and I can prove I exist' mostly rubbish/ small minded garbage. Clapton is designated for hell and he knows it - proof: The miserable look on his face which he has got for a lifetime. And all his fans to follow him-same direction. If looking for some inspirational stuff...I'd recommend to go elsewhere. Ganja - presently out of supply as Clapton is momentarily out of junk/heroin - part of his worried look on his face.

  • PyePye7; Have you seen Clapton trying to play jazz? Jesus, it's embarrassing! He plays the SAME two T Bone Walker licks throughout! He THINKS he can try any genre of music and his brain dead fans hail him as a hero.

  • post a video

  • I see from your profile that you are 33. What do you know????? You were not even around in 69.

  • phralmulo; Most kids playing guitar in music stores can nail Clapton to the floor! He has very little skill and technique. His saving grace in 1967 was his TONE but he lost that in 1969. I saw him in his early yrs in London(were YOU there?)..i saw how he interacted with Hendrix and Peter Green. (who was a formidable player). You have a problem with rejection and need therapy! If it bothers you to KNOW the truth then that's bad luck mate. Anyone's free to comment here.

  • I don't think the girl on the sax is Candy Dulfer. Doesn't Clapton say "Lisa" just before she plays the sax? I also think this girl is a little too young to be Candy Dulfer. But she does look like her.

  • I LOVE ERIC CLAPTON

  • Eric.s great, as always, so who's the girl on the sax???

  • maybe Candy Dulfer?

  • Thank you, willieboy, I've googled her and believe you are right!

  • best guess is candy dulfer. milf.

  • one of my favorites

  • AWESOME! i love all the tracks on the album 461...

  • Eric Clapton is the absolute greatest guitarist ever! #2: Jimmy Page, #3: Jimmi Hendrix, #4: Slash

  • #4 Slash?! hahahahahahahaha aahhh thats pathetic

  • Okay, what should he be?

  • Well.. SRV,Duane Allman,J Beck,Gilmour,Knopfler,C Berry,BB King, R Johnson to name a few.
