@jakespnl463 I forget where I found the explanation, but what Vorador is wielding is somewhat of a replica. There is a certain still picture in which you also get a clear view of it and can see some of the differences. One of the most notable being it's much shorter length than the Reaver.
I love how Vorador just stays his hand when Malek is down and then disappears laughing. It's like the ultimate insult! The rivalry between those two were one of my favorite things about the game.
I LOVE vorador. He CHANGES a lot in later games, but in this, he was a "lunatic drunk man" like Kain said. He is an ambicious and arrogant, perfect to a OLD vampire, with such power.
i dont think so... my point of seen is that BO2 is a complement of Defiance as vorodor still live Janos too but possessed by the hylden... in Defiance we never saw Vorador's death... just a broken sword. the timeline had bean change when Kain said "Janos must stay dead" what do you think about that?
Well it was admitted to be a fluke by the writing staff after they first tried explaining that it was an elaborate time paradox. I think it's kind of cool, because it leaves the player an opportunity to fill in the blanks themselves.
Wait...wood blocks steel? Don't vampires have that uber-strength thing going for them? Raziel could move those huge obelisks in SR2 if I remember correctly.
Good point. One theory I have is that at this time, Malek guarded the pillar of conflict, so he was able to fight on a higher level than other humans, as was pretty much his reputation. Just a theory as to why he might be able to defend against that attack. Or part of it anyway.
At this time in the story Malek is not yet Guardian of Conflict, he doesn't become so until after fused with the magical armor, which is because he failed to protect the Guardians from Vorador. He was, however, the leader of the sarafan order. Being the leader of a group of warrior-sorcerer-priests devoted to vampirehunting must count for something.
If you watch the scene where Kain meets Moebius (as the oracle) you learn that even before he got his soul fused to his armour, he was defending the circle, Moebius says it himself, adding that "He has let no member fall since". He was likely kept ignorant of his true role, however, as was suggested either on wiki or one of the fan sites
As the "Ward of the Circle of Nine" yes, not explictly stated as already a guardian. Also, Vorador killed 6 unnamed Guardians of the Circle of Nine, the surviving ones being Moebius, Mortanius and Ariel before Malek could reach the room where he was defeated but not said to be killed completely. That would mean that he either was one of the "unnamed" Guardians, which doesn't really fit since he is named throughout or he gained the status just as the previous Conflict Guardian died since
Ariel wasn't a survivor of that attack, she succeeded one of those guardians. Malek was a guardian at the time because although Mortanius said he'd serve them forever, he doesn't have the ability to make someone a guardian, and since guardians are picked from birth, you can see why I say Malek was always conflict guardian, even if he didn't always know it. That's where I'm coming from.
It can be hard to keep track with all that's happened in the storylines, don't worry about it. Have you heard the head of Crystal Dynamics is pushing for another installment of LOK?
Yes, but they seem to have troubles getting it done because of the last ones sales and alot of key staff being unavadible. If they make a new one, though, I can't wait to see what they come up with this time around!
The next one would likely be the finale, though I could be wrong. Either way, I have no doubt that it will be immense. They've lost a key figure in the story's creation, Amy Hennig, but who knows, she may come back to wrap things up. Given what she's contributed to so far, I think it's possible that she would.
that's not possible. Guardians are chosen from birth. how can he have become conflict guardian if he had alread been born?
Also, if what you're saying is true, then the original conflict guardian would have died at the hands of vorador, and according to SR2, the new guardian is selected at the very moment of the previous ones death
i love the sense of egocentric in the original blood omen.
Vorador, in the blood omen 1, was a lunatic ,xcentric and opulent vampire. When he dies, Kain understand that he embrace the power of vampires and creates his own religion where he is a god.
Otherwise, the rest of Kain saga, Vorador and other guys are so... weak...
I love the 'Legacy of Kain' series; moreso for it's Shakespearian-esque storyline than it's gameplay. I am currently in a situation where I don't have access to my PS2, so these videos are a godsend.
But that still does'nt exactly answer the physical improbability of a pike's wooden shaft (emphasis on wooden here) being able to block a blow from a metal edged blade backed by the force of a Vampire...
Unless Malek's pike was actually METAL...I believe it was in the SR2 cutscene...I'm not positive.
Which leads to the question...which is the canon version?
With LoK they tend to repair things as they go along, but even if it was a wooden staff, Malek is the conflict guardian, and adept in magic, maybe his pike was enchanted and hence undamaged.

Well, he had been killed and unexplainably revived in the other games, I think a second death will humble a man, even if one did not.

He was only revived in BO2, though. He's pretty cynical and enigmatic in SR2 and Defiance.

Wait a minute. In LOK2, Vorador is supposed to be dead. We all saw him being beheaded. So, WTF is with this change in continuity?
OmegaUniversitas 3 years ago
BO2 wasn't directed by the same person as all the other LOK games. The fact that he is alive was confirmed to be an accident by the staff.

his weapon looked to have some sort of protective lightning cross it when struck. Maybe its magickal?

Well all the other guardians had magickal prowess so that would make sense.
