The US has its own resources, but burns Canada's to save our own, and to keep your economy going. With only 32 million people (or there abouts) Canada does not produve engineers, scientists etc on a very large scale. Nor do they own companies that produce cars, computers, and other forms of technology on a large scale. The trade off is, the US saves its own resources, and at the same time provides Canada with the money it needs to sustain itself in exchange for theirs.

No offense, but NAFTA has benefited Canada much more than it has the US. Many jobs in the US went north of the border, including ones in Mexico, which is one of the reasons we have so many illeagals. That may be true. I can't speak to how much it has benefited the US, but I can speak to how much it has benefited Canada and Canada didn't exactly get a great deal out of it, either. And where Canada does benefit, the US (especially in the Bush era) just straight up violated NAFTA to protect American jobs. Either way, Canada is a natural trading partner of the US and vice-versa due to geography, culture, language, and to an extent, history. We can sell to China, but it'd be harder

The US has its own resources, but burns Canada's to save our own, and to keep your economy going. With only 32 million people (or there abouts) Canada does not produve engineers, scientists etc on a very large scale. Nor do they own companies that produce cars, computers, and other forms of technology on a large scale. The trade off is, the US saves its own resources, and at the same time provides Canada with the money it needs to sustain itself in exchange for theirs.

It's not exactly 100% rosy for Canada. Not to mention that many Canadian companies are bought by American ones that do account tricks to avoid paying corporate tax in Canada and lay off Canadians. No offense, but NAFTA has benefited Canada much more than it has the US. Many jobs in the US went north of the border, including ones in Mexico, which is one of the reasons we have so many illeagals. You have 32 million people and are the #1 trading partner of the largest economy in the world? We have our own resources but buy yours, just as we do Saudi, and look at the life style they have. A 1500 year old book, loads of American military equipment, and billions of dollars

That may be true. I can't speak to how much it has benefited the US, but I can speak to how much it has benefited Canada and Canada didn't exactly get a great deal out of it, either. And where Canada does benefit, the US (especially in the Bush era) just straight up violated NAFTA to protect American jobs. Either way, Canada is a natural trading partner of the US and vice-versa due to geography, culture, language, and to an extent, history. We can sell to China, but it'd be harder
