this & "Nothin' but the Blood of Jesus are my favourite Stryper songs!!! Saw em earlier this year, AMAZING!!!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!If anyone wants to blame/credit my christianity to anyone/anything, look at these guys!! GBU!!!
If I'm wrong, please respectfully correct me. They made this album heavier because they were criticized that IGWT was too "glammy" lol not sure if that's a word. Michael said that they had been doing some drinking during the ATL era which is why he thinks they broke up after it. That it was an act of God saying "Hey straighten up." But now they're back and rocking harder than ever :)
I think this was a much harder time for the band in general. They were, possibly, taking a lot of flack from those around them and wanted to produce an album that was less of a nicey, nice Christian album - topic wise - and actually show their contemporaries that they can rock with the best of them and take on topics like this one. That doesn't make them less of Christian...
Stryper is my favorite band and will always be,they are my favorite musicians,i really love them,to me both soldiers under command album and against the law are pure gold, out of this world
HI EVERYONE!! I AM FROM BRAZIL AND I AM A HUGE STRYPER FAN,ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER,SIMPLY AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG,THAT IS FOR SURE!!! WITHOUT A DOUBT AND IN MY OPINION,STRYPER IS THE BEST ROCK BAND ON THIS EARTH.
HI EVERYONE!! I AM FROM BRAZIL AND I AM A HUGE STRYPER FAN,ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER,SIMPLY AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG,THAT IS FOR SURE!!! WITHOUT A DOUBT
I grew up listening to these guys. I'm 19 and my dad is a huge fan and always has been. I've seen them live and they're freakin amazing caught one of their bibles after it hit me in the face haha. I just wish music was still music like this it makes me ashamed to listen to the music that has been played in the 19 years i've lived. It's just not as great anymore
100 % rocks.! even though they were claimed to have 'crossed over' to the dark side.! I dont' think so..! seein' them again this Thurs.!! (1st time since '86!! )
well, I'm glad they got some healing and growth! We all get hurt and we aren't God. We can just take so much. and yes we might blow it sometimes but hey this is why we have Jesus, to help us get ok again. Duh! Life is Life- a learning session of time. We fall, we get up, we fall, we get up.. the thing is WE GET UP! May take us 5 to 20 yrs or 1 mo, but we get up because not no one can snatch us away from God permanently! Once you give your heart to God, He is there waiting for us to look to him
I dont know what to say... its a fine song, but, a poor video, and it is no christian... well, thanks LORD! They have a new album! Murder By Pride! 100% christian! God bless they!
Stryper is great, been listening since 1986. I've always got crap from people but I dont listen to it cause they like it. I listen to it cause I like it.
Here's the deal. I KNOW what they were about during this time because I got it right from Michael Sweet's words on an interview I heard. First let me say that I'm a HUGE Stryper fan. But they were "definately partying" during this time. They were upset at many people for dissing them during their glory days as "not really Christian", so they went ahead and "gave them something to talk about".. They were admittedly not in the same place with God as earlier. But they are back!
@rock4God1001 they're just true to themselves and real people/christians...not hypocrites whom Jesus' hates!the impact they made was what Jesus said "doing greater things he did"...spreading the gospel...through music for S.T.R.Y.P.E.R. and still they're KEEPING THE FIRE BURNING!!!
@rock4God1001 Styper themselves said it's a bit of a rebellious albumn in terms of it's attitude, but I agree, they didn't suddenly cease to be a Christian band, and lose their Christianity...it was just an edgier albumn (edgier...is that a word?). It is Stryper and it is Christian! Good comments you had...
I like their earlier stuff more. It was much heavier, and Stryper was good at heavy metal with some of the best ballads. They knew how to rock. Unfortunately they sort of changed their sound for this album to sound sort of like Poison. WHY?!?!
To Hell With The Devil was their best. Soldiers Under Command was second best IMO.
Yes. As far that i know this album is their only non Christian album. The name of this album is titled: Aganist The Law. after this album Michael Sweet left Stryper and had a fairly sucessful solo career with the Benson Christian record company here in Nashville.
You know what? Maybe they struggled for a bit...like EVERY Christian. Oh wait, I guess there are some Christians out there who never sin. Are you catching the sarcasm? Regardless. This was the best album they ever put out. Period.
Christian or not Christian, Stryper is an incredibly talented band. The songwriting is very strong and they can actually play! And on top of that they look great!
I didn't like their secular effort. Without the Christian message, they were just another poser band with horrible lyrics. Love Yellow and Black Attack and Soldiers Under Command
I suppose their excrutiating cover of the Earth Wind and Fire classic "Shing Star" isn't secular either? I'll go back and "read the lyrics". Maybe there is some VEILED Christian message their but they were quite obviously trying to masquerade as a more secular band once the novelty (and their fan base) dried up. All I no is it sucked out loud. Give me the 1st two albums.
There is nothing non-Christian about a song encouraging people to be the best person they can be. But others: Two-Time Woman and Not That Kind of Guy are against sleeping around and cheating, ATL is about not being a hypocrital Christian, Rock the People thanks God for blessing Stryper with music, Lady is a love song to Mike's wife, Caught in the Middle is like Free basically telling people to choose God, All for One is about unity in Christ, and Rock the Hell is totally evangelical...
I'm sure you're right. I still say that to the casual fan, it is no where NEAR as in your face. What is known as "lukewarm" in the Christian community. This is not a criticism of Stryper, merely an OBSERVATION. However, what IS a criticism is that the album is tired and it was time for them to go. Which they did.
demon is right. They did something they soon regretted, because can't Stop The Rock went right back to the christian stuff. They knew they had made a mistake. They forgot ewho their original fans were. just like most bands, they were just christian.
this song kicks ass.they r one fuk'n rockin band.and still goin after 23 yrs.one of my favorites always.and i'm a full time metal head.christian or not.these guys have talent.
GOD BLESS STRYPER! This group has been and will always continue to be a Mighty Instrument For The Kingdom Of God!Michael is still continuing as are the others in the directions God is taking them to be more effective in tis season of their lives to bring in more people into the Kingdom Of God through His Son ....Jesus Christ! God used them greatly on my life in the eighties and still till this day.God bless these men and their families....
First of all if your a Stryper fan you should know they were before their time. They opened the door to the Christian music we have today. Before Stryper there was no such thing as a Christian metal band on MTV until Stryper. In this album they were changing their look and style of music because that's the direction music was headed. They have had some hard lives but they never gave up and God is still using them today. Because of them...I never gave up.
Singer sounds like a lady, drummer looks like a lady.....positive message though and quite entertaining. Rock with an edge and meaning. they are still around, unlike many bands from 80's metal scene
Hey could you guys stop moving stuff around on the stage? We're trying to film a corn-ball, washed-up christian heavy butt-rock video to inflate these guys' egos one last time.
Man this band....I'll tell you this much....their ain't nobody making hard drivin metal like this anymore. I know the new CD Reborn is awesome, but they need to recapture the snarl and swagger they had then. I love this song.
