oh. That looks good. Don't spread it. I get this with mac heist but i don't think i'll ever get a virus. :) Haven't since 06 owning a Mac. But as Mac is getting Popular we will start getting viruses i think.
Do you guys have a Linux Version? Because as a system admin for web hosting. The windows virus wont mess with our system but it would be nice to stop it from spreading to other systems.
Ahaha. For years all I hear is how people want macs because they don't get viruses or spyware. I've always known that any computer can get them, but then these very same people turn around and buy mac anti-virus anyway. Then most mac users will end up running windows in their mac. It's so funny, it kills me. The idea that you will never have to do anything for your computer is basically a fantasy and why most mac users buy their macs. Not all, but most of them. I'd rather simply update
my pc and enjoy a faster computer at 1/2 the price wth more titles. Also discussing how many malwares isn't the point. Many people think the mac can't get them because the mac is designed special, but the fact that they are proves they are vulnerable, thus negating some of the reason to get one. As mac gains popularity, there will be a tipping point where malware writers will decide to make more for mac. And it's already happening since even Snow Lepard has some security patches already.
I have an i7, 4ghz, 1TBHD, full ram pc and it's rock stable. No problems so far. I can do anything, including render video more quickly than on any mac. There isn't one single reason that I need to run out and get a mac. If anything it would just hold me back at this point. And what's more, it only cost about $675.
That's pure bullshit. I'm guessing that database includes Windows malware too (Which, piece per piece, goes around 5 millions). The real amount of Mac malware is something around 20-30, maybe even more if you include exploits.
What you guys forget is that not all 112,438 viruses, or whatever are attacking people. Usually about 90% of all attacks come from recent viruses made in the past year or two. And the very newest exploits are more dangerous because they are unknown. Sitting around saying, windows has more viruses than mac and fighting over it is stupid when any current one can get you if you are not patched. Mac users that always think they are safe will be hardest hit in the future.
And it is bull that there are only 5 mac expoits. There is a reason apple recommended running anti-virus (before retracting that in embarrassment, lol). There is a reason they have mac scanners. And there are reasons for why even Snow Lepard needs patches, along with mac flash player as well. IT goes on and on. This just shows mac can be vulnerable like any computer can be.
one thing i love about mac is that: one antivirus usually assure you a 100% clean mac. In windows, you can have thousands of security suites and you can never get your pc fully cleaned.
That's complete and utter bull. Sure mac has few enough that it's possible that the scanner can get them all. However, there could be exploits out there that are unknown to the scanner developer. Being underpaid, and understaffed they will likely miss some. Also don't forget not to long ago mac users were saying macs couldn't get viruses. And their commercials even hint at it. But now that they get them, now mac users are finding another way to be proud. To say there are less of them.
What I'm saying is that most mac are unaware that they are in denial. As macs popularity grows, it will get hit more often and security will become more complex. And osx is patched all the time. Less than windows, but what's the point? It's still being patched. The original idea was that mac was so superior that it didn't need scanners, or patches. That's a myth apple started. What's horrible is that some mac users will eventually get malwares and not know they have them because there
because they will not be running any scanner most likely. Or because it's an unknown. And back to windows. The scanners usually detect all of them. So what you said is untrue. Instead it's that sometimes some soft wares fail to remove threats.
I agree. I may use a Mac, but I'm not stupid. Macs are NOT virus-free people! There ARE Mac viruses! As a matter of fact, it is proven that even though Windows is more at risk of malware infection, it takes a great deal less to hack/infect a mac, due to lack of security/protection. The only reason Macs aren't as prone to infection is because the greater mass uses Windows. Naturally, hackers will want to target the larger group. As Macs become more popular, more viruses will be made.
Also, I agree with the fact that current antivirus software for Mac isn't all that great. Do to the fact that CURRENTLY there are very few viruses for Mac, these programs may only need a simple bug fix or two with each update. There is very little protection involved, as these programs mainly have a bunch of doo-hickies that make the overprotective Mac user think "Yay, I iz invinciblez 'cuz i gotz teh best!"
Say it is the best! What's it supposed to be better than, if there's nothing to compare?
There are just too many problems with Mac users believing that they are 100% safe. Even the ones with the antivirus software need to be aware that just because something says "safe" or "infection protection" doesn't mean it's true. If you ask me, within the next ten years, this whole "virus free and/or "less viruses" thing will be about as factual as Bill Gates leading the government into a war against Chuck Norris.

Whats the point of VirusBarrier X5? Macs have little or no viruses. Like what 3 viruses? I don't know if this is worth anything to me.

VirusBarrier protects against OSX malware (trojans, scareware, etc.), Windows malwares and thousands of macro viruses (Office Word & Excel infected files).

You will see how easy it is to download a trojan horse for Mac

Very useful to show some of the Mac-isms available in the app (like holding Alt to change the button, very cool!)
I just think the design is a little oversized and gaudy and should be toned down a bit (or at least made to look more professional)
