  • I am 14, and my mom says this is an instrument you have to learn while being little. That there is no idea for me even to try. Not exactly very supportive but is she right? Bbecause I really want to learn, and I mean If I practice i can get good,

  • it looks very hard, no frets, nothing to mark finger position.Wow, how much weight to put on the strings from the bow, and how to swing the bow... phew lol.. Dont know if I am up for the challenge. But, I love the sound, and want to make that beautiful music! I have been a classical flute player for over 29 years now. I got frustrated in the beginnign with that too. but, I stuck to it, and practiced my *A* off. Not sure what to do here. This instument is much different. OH boy

  • Its hard to have your fingers correct and to keep the beat

  • not ambidextrous? ;)

  • @fateindustry i am xD

  • I'm 63 and just starting. Had never touched a violin until a month ago. My bowing sounds like your left-handed example!

  • @knicklas48 It's never to late for start... keep on practicing.

  • @knicklas48 hahah =) aww keep praciticing, you'll get better =D

  • is it better to take classes or to learn from online?

  • im a left hander and im planning to play violin if you put the violin in your right hand and play with your left, doesnt that mean i have to play backwards?

  • im a left hander and im planning to play violin if you put the violin in your right hand and play with your left, doesnt that mean i have to play backwards?

  • @delasou14 Most violinists play the violin the same way being "right-handed." I am actually left handed myself, but don't teach anybody to play "left-handed." There is a such thing as a left-handed violin, but I don't recommend learning this way.

  • @violintutorpro

    ok thanks :)

  • i want to thank you for your videos, i will definitely refer to them as i progress with learning the violin; i'm 21 years old and i've started 4 months ago with half an hour each week, i have a good teacher..but i would like to ask a question: would i be able to become a professional player?? if i practice enough??

  • I want to get your dvd's...i'm excited!!

  • @DrGreenfun It will help but not very much e.g you'll learn notes, music theory and violins have high action, meaning playing the violin might help with playing a classical guitar (which also has high action) and vice versa. All instruments complement each other anyway e.g playing guitar might help with playing bass which might help with playing a fretless bass which might help playing the violin (sorry for the long explanation).

  • @WaterBender02 Guitar is a far harder instrument to play definitely. but violin has a much steeper learning curve i.e. requires a lot to be learnt at once, however guitar you can lean little bits over time. but both technically and physically guitar is a much tougher instrument in which musical knowledge is very beneficial despite most guitarists not learning much. the teller is that you can master all styles in a lifetime on violin. no-one has yet on guitar.

  • what size is that violin?

  • @alanoasiss any luck soo far??? i m a guitarist/drummer and i want to give a try.

  • @deathbyzza420 Yes, I got a lot better. In summer I think I'm ready for an electric one...

I loved this instrument more than any other one, it's so fun to play.

Tip: Take your time to learn if you need to go slow, then go slow especially with the bowing it's the most difficult thing about the violin at first.

The tunning it's hard at first because the violin is very delicate, the strings can go off easy.

Also don't try to learn hard songs so fast, try first learning the child songs.

  • ill grab the geetar(:

  • violin is pretty easy if uu elarn it for about a year. i do it becuase i like it and becuase people respect me for how hard it is to play.

  • @cota47 how old are you and when did you start? im 16 and im thinking about starting, but it feel like its going to be a waste of time maybe because maybe im to old to learn it.. or something :( but i reaallly wanna learn it!!

  • @HeatherFeather141 well i was 12 when i started and its worth it. your never too old to play an instrument.

are you going to play for your own thing or r u playing for your school orchestra?

  • @HeatherFeather141 16 is definitely not to old! I have a student that is 89 years old in my studio right now. :)

  • I feel sooo much better about my first attempt after hearing a seasoned violinist give it go with a 'fresh' left hand. Thanks!

  • I'm left handed, although I play both my flute and violin in the right handed way

  • I have a question...im a lefty does that makes any diference?

  • Great question. You can learn the violin left handed but I am also a left hander and play right handed. There are left handed fiddles out there but are rare.

  • @violintutorpro

is it easier to play on a right-handed violin if you are left-handed?

  • @evangelia96 yes. they cost a lot less. and it does not matter which way you learn, its just as difficult and you rely less on your dominant hand, which can only be a good thing, right?

  • @MaGoX88 there are lefty violins but most left handers use a righty violin... i would probably say just try both of them out and see wat u like better

  • @MaGoX88

If you're left-handed then it's just the bottom 4 strings of a guitar E, A, D, G, for right-handed violin it's reversed. But I'm also a left-handed but I've seen and played guitar right-handed for so long I'm going to still play violin right-handed just like violintutorpro.
