I think it's ok that it ended up being Vangelis, otherwise a majority of the cinema goers would just have ended up jumping out from somewhere high out of pure despair. :-S That song is possibly the bleakest out of all the Floyd songs. Takes the word 'bleak' to a new level really. Pure bleak-orama.
pink floyd, at least this track, and blade runner don't mix. Crazy dimond, maby. Sorry but from a movie point of view it's wrong. As a clip fore the pink floyd's song it's ok. It's the wrong film to mess around with.
I must agree with you on this point. Although Welcome to the Machine goes well with the clips from the film, it is simply taboo to mix the two together. We all have seen what can happen when a great film is screwed around with. Just remember what George Lucas did with Star Wars?
Let's not forget that George Lucas is Star Wars. To much to late, time isn't on his side...Perhaps its stupid but he will miss the cult status in time it will show up as a money hunt.
Blade runner has a special status, it isn't about the machine. And this beautiful song isn't about love...
I agree and yet I don't. The choice of song and movie is PERFECT. The subject matter of the two is as close as you'd ever want. But there was a problem in what choices of clips from the movie went at points the song. Didn't convey emotions as well as it could have.
This video is great! I think the music fits perfectly, just like the original soundtrack by Vangelis. It also illustrates the whole idea of what the movie is about. For Blade Runner fans I recommend the documentary "On the Edge of Blade Runner" (although I guess that everyone that's seen this video already knows it).
Such an obvious match. A Pink Floyd Soundtrack for Blade Runner would have been ubercool, but I'd be happy just to track down a good copy of the original Vangelis score.

This video needs to be redone with the new DVD and better video editing software. I think its originally from the mid 90s.

You can synchronize the album that contains that song with this movie.

Its the "Wish You Were Here Album". It goes perfectly with Bladerunner like "Dark Side of the Moon" goes with The Wizard of Oz.

I'd say it'd be cool if someone did a remake of "Bladerunner"--but filmakers utterly ruin all remakes these days. Sad. Sad but true.

Agreed...great combo! But just keep in mind that the Pink Floyd of 1981 was not quite the Pink Floyd of 1972/1975. :-)
