thank you so much for this video! i'm pregnant with my first baby and just decided to switch from my OB at Peidmont hospital hopefully to a midwife at North Fulton. I'm really interested in a water birth, a more personal pregnancy, labor, and delivery, and have so many reservations about traditional births and medical interventions. i also want to have a doula and am thinking about Labor of Love doulas. Did you use a midwife or OB? Any advice on finding a midwife and/or doula? thanks!
like i commented on your page i know this is an old video...but so happy to see that you all posted something like this as African Americans...thanks again hope to be in your shoes soon
I am 21 wks. preg and live in GA. Where did you have the birth? My doc's office says there's only one place 2 hours away to do it and I don't believe them. thanks!!
We had our baby at North Fulton Hospital - located in Roswell, GA. But if that is too far, see if you can find a midwife that does home births. Let me know how things turn out. Good Luck!
Oh My GOODNESS!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I had a c-section with my first son only because of Dr's intervention and I have decided to have a natural home birth and almost everyone thinks I'm mad!!!!! you guys are so refreshing!!!
feel free to subscribe, I don't normally ask people to subscribe, but I am reloading some of my deleted vids as we speak. I will be 26 weeks on Wednesday (24th June 09)
my name is dominique (22/f/atl). me and my husband are 21 weeks prego with second. i had a induced epidural birth (along with other sleep meds) when i was 18. it was truly the worst experience ever! we are planning to have a natural water birth as well. i am thankful for you video because you shared many points that i hadnt even considered, which just made me more "pro-natural". i just copied&pasted this link to my husband so that he can understand why i'm choosing this route. Congrats!
you are very right, I was thinking about all this as well, and the thing is, in many other countries they deliver their child squatting, and we are suppose to be the ones living in the "developed country", I have arranged a water birth for the same reasons as you.
natural births also helps bonding with your baby. i had a natural birth with both of my daughters and i bonded easily and they latched on very quickly. I admire you guys 4 this video, if only more ppl new more about the things you talked about they wouldn't use it as the easy way out.
oh WOW there were alotta things you guys were talking about i didn't even know! Now i know for sure that when it's that time, i'm gonna have water birth or give birth but sitting down. A tip my cousin told me, she had her baby on April 09 a boy too, is even if your in labor keep on walking and don't think about the contractions, sing a song or something that will help with not thinking of the pain. And listen to your body & baby cause he'll tell when to push and when to let him slide out hisself
I have learnt over the years that many docs are cruel. Im a nursing student and i was clincals one day and i saw a patient that had retention of contraceptives. And the doc was like "thats y i dont let my wife take that shit". i was like, u guys are cruel and they are the same ones that tell women the pill wont cause any probs and most allegations are myths......
