Only problem I had was that Clottey should have won the fight IF he continued to punch in the last two rounds. Cotto was on his horse and avoiding Clottey, maybe throwing a couple here and there. IF Clottey had thrown even 20 punches more each round, he would've had the championship.
If only Clottey would let his hands go, he might do better. The guy throws good combinations, but he hardly throws those combos. He spends most of the time in that shell of his defense. I love his left upercutt, left to the body and left to the head. Aswome combo.

thats true, but i think clottey might actually throw more punches than mayweather. (except maybe in the pacquiao fight)
mayweather is really choosy with his punches. what does he throw? like 30 to 40 punches a round? i think clottey throws just slightly more than that. but both are very economical and effective punchers.
if i had to pick though, id say clottey has the better defense. i don't think ive ever seen him visibly hurt, but pbf has been in trouble though. just saying

Defensive geniuses move around the ring duck and make u miss also. they roll with the punches and counter they dont stay in a clam like shell. @pinoyamo: well said. clottey always protects himself but he can't transition from offense to defense consistently. he only punches when his opponent isn't throwing. I think clottey should trust his chin more and exchange when his opponents are throwing punches. he has lost two straight high profile fights so he needs a big win to stay relevant. I think he should move up to light middle and fight angulo, cintron, martinez etc. he would have a good chance in all those fights.

cotto won the fight because he knocked clottey down and clottey didnt press in the last rounds. that being said, I was disapointed with clottey in his fight with pacquia. he was afraid to threw punches, even his cornerman said it. he will not get a title shot any time soon.

i hear you on the pacquiao fight (even though, i dont blame him myself. theres not much you can do against pacquiaos speed and volume but to defend or get ko'd)
but in every other fight, clottey does throw more than mayweather does... that's just punchstats.
mayweather throws upwards of 40punches/round on average.
but clottey vs. cotto, he threw ~50punches/round...and remember, clottey practically stopped throwing after the late rounds.
clottey is just a def. 1st fighter like pbf

Clottey lost to baldomir on DQ, and lost to cotto and margarito by decision that could've also gone his way . His only legitimate loss was against pacquiao. I really like clottey, a very tough guy..And a very humble fighter..I don't remember any other instance where manny pacquiao laughed along with his opponent on the weigh in..after the fight, clottey humble praised pacquiao and accepted defeat..not like some punk ass latinos who persistently cries for a rematch after the fight..
