I used this same song for an animation class I had several years ago. My mom used to play this all the time for me and my brother. I'm so glad to see someone appreciates it as much as I do!
whenever we see or smell a dead skunk in the middle of the road my dad and i do this:me:HIT IT DAD! him:THERES A DEAD SKUNK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! lol sometimes we might say dead stunk in the middle of the road cuz it stunk up that area.Vote up if u would do that or have done it
Your video is brilliant! This is a song that touched the hearts of all native Fallbrookians. Dead skunks' aroma wafted through the Friendly Village, blending in with the early morning fog....ahhh...memories....
i ran over a possum one night, accidently of course, i looked in the rear view mirror and it was laid out in the road. We kept on going and talking about that possum. poor dumb possum. When we came back the possum was gone!!!
That skunk's eyes were probably bigger than it's belly. That 'one ate to' much, and got lazy, stooopid and sslllloooww. Wolves do that too. They think they're so bad. .
OMG I loved this song back in high school. When my son was in high school just recently it all came back the night he drove home after hitting a skunk. lol
I've never responded to a video before but this was awesome,Was lookin for a video I could show my grand daughter, cause we both luv this song and this was the one! Cute and got the point across. Yes very sad but it happens,we'll all smell the hit skunk eventually,Thanx
@KANDYLEE72 errm - you could try watching for the credit at the end of the video, my friend. Its the incomparable Loudon Wainwright III - father of the equally esoteric Rufus Wainwright
haha... This is great! I got an E-mail from my sis this morning,a dn I had to "follow up" with a video for her..
"Went into work last Thursday and low and behold there was a dead skunk in the middle of the road stinking to high heaven. Didn't need that extra cup of morning joe to wake me up after that WOOEEE. It was the talk in the teacher's lounge. Poor thing, I do hate to see an animal killed on the road like that. "
Just looking for another Wainwright song on this website (Times is tough), neet song and up-to-date, then I saw the skunk song, had to see if youtube had it. The Video is great, and the song is a classic.
I love this song, I sing it out loud going down the road in my car, Had to special ordr it the 1st time, had the store play it when it arrived, now they have it in stock !!! Great campfire song, 25 yrs ago is when I heard it last, so glad I found out who sang this song to order it,, The reactions I get for playing this song are always positive and where can I get a copy!
I missed hearing that song for about 25 yrs when I learned who sang this song,I ordered it. When the cd arivd I asked the store to play it. there was such an amazing response to it that ,when I came into order a 2nd cd cause my 1st one disappeared I didn't have to special order it cause they had it in stock!! I play it really loud when Im cruising in my car, I love to get reactions from people's face's when they hear the lyrics, Great campfire song and all the kids love to sing it too!!!
I sang this song to my kids as they grew up, they were certain I made it up. Now I have the evidence that "yes, this is a real song". Love it love it!
great video to go with it, but agree about the missing middle. Have never heard this on the radio since it was a hit. This was the first song I ever did a search on, when I got my first pc. Memories of riding around in the country in Dad's Opel Cadet station wagon. LOL. Heads a bopping, hands a clapping and feet stomping on the floorboards to the beat of Dead Skunk. Thanks for sharing.
yes been yrs since i heard this on the radio..lol and funnier still would be seeing any opel cadets, i havnt seen them on the road since the 60's and the opel gt.
Yes, the opel gt. I tried, in vain, to talk my dad into trading the station wagon in on a gt. lol. He also owned a Saab, 99 series, I think. Tried to get him to buy the Sonnet too. No luck. "When you get a job, you can buy one" Dad. I bought a Fiat.
Will never forget. Shortly after it came out there was a dead skunk in the middle of the highway in front of the bank at Aberdeen Proving Grnd, Md. Took months for the smell to go away.
Thank u daddy for introducing this song to me :) thank u random youtuber for this video :)
