LOL please. my 5 year old daughter could write something better. then season 5, 6 and most of 4 sucked. not to mention the ending.....season 3 wasnt that great come to think of it.

When they saved this scene for last for S3, you knew it was going to be big. It never seemed right that this was the same Jack we've always known since prior to the 9/22/04 crash of Flight 815... but I had no idea they would go so far to show they escaped the island. As soon as Kate walked out, my mouth dropped and chills went down my spine.

This is in my humble opinion the best scene of LOST (so far of course). I mean the more I think about this scene the more I love it. For one it was the biggest mind f**k of a twist I have ever seen. Second The emotion in the scene was outstanding, and third this scene is what seppeartes season 1,2 and 3 from season 4,5 and 6. I have always found seasons 1, 2 and 3 to be on a different note from season 4,5 and presumably 6. This scene is what separated the seasons so perfectly.

I don't think the ingeniousness of this twist can ever be surpassed. The show spent 3 seasons (over 40 hours) hammering into our heads the concept of the flashback. We take it for granted. It's part of the show. It's how the show works. We don't question it. And then they turn it around. Amazing and goosebump-inducing.

We did not know (explicitly) up until that point that this was a flashforward as opposed to a flashback - Jack referred to his father as being alive, etc...

We'd also only JUST seen them make contact with a boat nearby the island before this scene so to go from potential rescue to already rescued in about 5 minutes was massive.

Also there was lots of speculation as to who Kate's "he" was, why she wasn't in jail for her crimes, who else was rescued, who was in the coffin...so many things.

For me, this is the greatest television scene ever. Just through the pure shock of it from the first time I saw it. I also feel that Matthew Fox's (Jack's) performance in this episode, is the greatest ever from a lead character on a television show. Although admittidly, Michael Emerson who plays Ben, is probably the best actor on the show. Thats only my opinion though. LOST RULES!!
