This show is amazing, except that it is far too rushed. Example: They built up Dio so much that he ended up being my favorite character, but then they just dropped him like an old hat. That was really disappointing. If you've seen the whole series, you'll know what I'm talking about. Still great, but they needed a lot more time.

LE is pretty good, but I felt there was some squandered potential in the plot, characters, and the implementation of their artistic ideas. I have similar feelings with a lot of other gonzo produced stuff. Good concepts, but often fall short.

E7... Same problem times 10. The board mecha concept doesn't make any sense, but yields surprisingly cool results. They just had to rip the plot and characters off from every previous mecha and add lameness/irrational stupidity.

The plot may have not been all that, but i do agree that The Theme of it is just original and something way Cool, I mean com on, gigantic Airships Using old war fare tactics, Chivalry, aim shoot reload, and Galleon cannon battles, while at the same its new and original, not to mention everything relies on steam and water. as far as Gonzo goes, they do fall short but its does have some Great concepts and theme, just just need to work on the the plot and characters

Very clear examination. The look and feel of it just captures the imagination, even if it was lacking in plot and character. I think the vanships and chivalric, classical broadside warfare was what got me. And add the music for the OP and ED, and you've got a fanbase.

if you liked the flight aspect of Eureka you will REALLY like this. the characters are a bit kid like, but they are actually kids so idk. If you feel strained by the first few episodes KEEP watching, the second half is were it is at.

This is an awesome opening, not just for the great song and the excellent animation, but I love the angles and camera viewpoints. It's one of the cool things in Last Exile. For example, I like how the camera follows the star-ship at 1:16, as it falls. Camera spins at 0:12 and 0:56, and camera zoom-ins at 0:38 (transitioning from Alex to the Silvana), and at 1:11 (this is probably my favorite shot, since it shows Alvis in a blizzard, and then suddenly we see she's in a ship). COOL STUFF.

(to phlyphlo) You ought to buy the series online. (That's the only way I ever found it) Discount anime dvd has it for pretty cheap. And this show is awesome in English, and it is actually fitting that way since it's an industrial revolution europe type of setting. It's one of the best anime dubs I've ever seen, too. I thought the VAs all did a good job.
