  • its nice

  • I SAW MEEEE!!!!!!

  • Holy fuck,, Queens is apperently all dick no girls thats way all grads from there are most likely gay

  • the fuck are you shitting about O.O

  • anyone know drummond miller from edinburgh who was/is at aberdeen uni? he's a big gorgeous chub of a lad.

  • I just wish to clarify a few things and bring the hopefully unbiased view of someone who is both a Kingstonian and a Queen's Student.

2004 was the first street party on Aberdeen St and was the result of a large collection of Keg parties on the same street. It became a street party as people began to leave the party they were attending and head to another or make their way home. People gathered in the streets in significant numbers and the street party began.

  • This was aided by many of the contained parties being broken up and large fines imposed on those running the parties. The following year Keg parties were not organised on the same scale presumably due to the risk of being heavily fined and the street party novelty attracted more students to the street. The party in 2005 descended into a dangerous environment as a car was brought to the street, flipped and torched.

  • (most information points to those responsible being young permanent residents of the city) In addition tension began to develop between Police and other emergency personnel and those partying on the street.

The following year was a significant change presumably brought about by major efforts on campus to bring the issue of safety to the forefront and a general reflexive fear in Queen's Students of a repeat problematic night which was not pleasant for those in attendance.

  • Since then the party has progressively increased in size especially in terms of the number of out of town visitors in attendance The vast majority of infractions have been out of town visitors from other Canadian universities, colleges including the "riot" in 2005.

As of homecoming 2008 the party has never again become uncontrollable or dangerous in my experience as a volunteer.

  • The media portrayal of the 2008 homecoming was severe despite no noticeable change from the previous year other then an increase in crowd size. Pressure was placed on the university to cancel homecoming which, to my regret, they did.

  • Since this cancelation there has been backlash from alumni and students who see the cancelation as a destruction of tradition over an event which has no official relation with the actual homecoming celebrations which in fact center around the Football game, parade and a series of reunion dinners and events.

  • Many groups have been created on facebook planning a weekend on which to throw the party despite the cancelation bringing fear that this will in fact become an entirely non-Queen's event with the blame still laid on the university students.

I have seen in this situation a myriad of shoty reporting from the Kingston and other Canadian press, the abuse of Queen's Students as a whole from several hostile Kingstonians through infringements on privacy and general prejudice.

  • I have seen Students who have been unreasonable in their confrontations with these people. I have seen a municipality that not only cannot take responsibility for its own policing issues and actions of its own residents, but also exacerbates the situation by pushing the university to fork out money for artificial clean up costs and ridiculous overstaffing by out of town officers far beyond what would be needed to contain a hostile crowd; much less a reasonably peaceful one.

  • I have seen Out of town guests who were not invited by anyone, who expect to be housed by acquaintances who attend the school, and who in general show no regard to the city or the students.

  • Finally I have seen a university which has allowed itself to be pushed around by the city and has bounced from one solution to another without allowing any one solution to become effective and in the end coping out entirely to let the situation run its course without the order provided by and organised event

  • i heard in 2007 people went nuts on Aberdeen and flipped cop cars and set them on fire and girls were flashing their bewbies... does anyone have any footie of that!?

  • hotpaw you're an idiot...quit stereotyping Queen's students...they do more for this city then you could ever imagine. Aberdeen may be a "Queen's Party" but you do realize that at least 2000 of the people there go to high school still or other universities? Get your facts right before you speak buddy! Im a current Queen's student and a hometown Kingstonian. Crap like yours sickens me.

  • I'm sorry if that comment offended you, but as i stated earlier, i DID NOT post that comment, i dont know who did, or how the hell it was done.... I was at the 2008 party and i really enjoyed myself, it was a great time, i was glad to be part of the festivities....

  • They need to grow up, or learn how to handle their alchohal and quit acting so stupid, 'cause apparently these university students go ape shit.

  • Great Video... just thought I needed to validate a bit.

  • Fuckin rich Queens students pissing on our historic city. Fuck you all who defecate, urinate and populate our hometown.

  • you need to get your facts straight. you don't like it?? PISS OFF!

  • wooooaaahhh... i NEVER said this!

i was at the 2008 homecoming party and fucking loved it, it was great times... and my hometown is nowhere close to kingston, i'm from nova scotia... i dont know how this comment got put up from my account.

  • @hotpaws99 Without the University, Kingston would be far poorer. Historic? Yeah, stuck in the 1840s...Boo Hoo, we didn't get to be the capital of Canada....get over it...And not all Queen's student are rich or "piss" on anything...An awful lot of the partiers were from Regi, KC,QE, LC and elsewhere.....gonna accuse the "rich HighSchoolers" of pissing on Kingston???
