I have spined several deer..better than hitting them back in the guts and never finding them..truth be told I often aim for the liver..because a liver shot is always fatal.

I don't know where you live but here in Indiana that's baiting deer. We go to jail and get fined for it. By all means its a very nice buck and I'm not going to brow beat you or anyone else where its legal to bait. That first shot was absolutely terrible. Come on man! You shot him at 6:03 and knew he was laying there suffering. You didn't shot him again until 7:50. I'm not saying I've had 100% perfect shots everytime but I don't wait 1 min 47 secs to put the deer down. Especially if he's laying there 25 years away. All I'm saying is be ethical.

hold your finger tip on the hair line of the bottom of his chest and pause it as quick as you can when he shoots. this deer dropped 12 to 15 inches. any body in the world would have spined this deer. not that that is a bad thing. blood trailing after dark sucks. freakin' AWESOME buck.

And practice your shooting for Christ sakes, you hit the deer in the spine and then took two minutes to decide to stick him again. I've done this exact same thing with a bow before... and a rifle. And the difference between me and most other people... This is a good shot. If you hit brown, you made a good shot. The only bad shot is a missed shot! He has this deer on his wall, which is what counts.
