Games weak. Unbalanced, and overpriced at 40$. Buy Warcraft 3 the Dota custom map has way more depth then this. Also multiplayer doesn't work. No campaign mode so its like playing shadow run single player with bots.

in DotA gold and xp are granted when an enemy is killed. the one who does the last hit gets the gold and everybody in range gets xp. however when you do the last hit on your allied creatures or buildings the enemy does not get anything. mastering this timing is one of the most important skills when playing DotA

You should check out LoL(league of legends) instead.

It doesnt require a super computer(even tho it will have graphics for them) and it the real succesor to dota(this looks more like a hybrid between dota, WoW and a few other games)

. dota is a great and fun game worldwide and i hope this game get to that lvl....as most games that come out now it seems to have a lower skillcap unlike dota.. where your skill actually means alot.. last hitting and denying is something i really think they should introduce again in this game.aside from that im just hopin more characters and more items.... and cs.. because then it can raise the skillcap to a way higher lvl where it can be played in a serious tourny environment like dota.

With Dawn of War 2 coming out around the same time from Relic and THQ i may not buy this one... It certainly looks good, but for lasting appeal, something Relic and THQ certainly achieved with the CoH series, i may have to go with DoW2.

I would not let it worry you too much mate. A lot of FPS games got inspired by a mod (counter strike). Just look at DOD, Team Fort etc :)

I would rather see a game get its inspiration from a mod than from another game for the simple fact that mods tend to be pretty original.

what i dont understand is why none compare it to Warhammer DoW?. There are these army boosting generals and powerful earthshattering giant assassins. You capture critical locations which give you higher income. The only dota aspects are creeps&lanes. Items dont have recipies which is one of the major aspects of originality of DotA.

I play both games very often and i see this new game as a mix of gameplays.

you kill troops with imba avatars in both games

you buy upgreades and/or wargear(aka items) in both games

creepwaves are specific to dota

capturing strategic locations specific to DoW

"lanes" specific to dota

size=power (for the lack of better terms) is specific to DoW & Supreme Commander.

reminder: This is a RTS/RPG mix game as the developers stated.

Sure, there isn't a whole lot of depth compared to DotA or a ton of heroes. To Demigod's credit though, it's only been in the works for about 2 years (which includes engine development) whereas DotA has been played for almost 6-7 years and already had an engine/map system to build off. Perhaps with time, Demigod will stand toe to toe with DotA. :)

I haven't played against any humans yet and the AI is as dumb as a rock, so it's hard to say... playing against the AI is very easy and ganking is cake. They'll use potions and TP, but they don't take the situation into account (how much damage another demigod can do to them, if they can stun, etc.) Again, this is a beta, so I'm sure the AI will be greatly improved before release.
