  • Hi Leo,

Maiden's official dictiionary meaning is "virgin", but most folks just say virgin. :-)

  • ... didn't say anything out loud this time.

  • I definitely hear "cherry boy" all the time at my Jr High schools when the boys are teasing each other.

    How about the term "virginity"?

"Oppai" doesn't seem vulgar at all - hell, there is a big movie in theaters right now called "Oppai Volleyball" about a coach who motivates her male team by promising to show them her boobs. And it's based on a true story! :)

Is there a more slang term for breasts, along the lines of "tits"?

  • Heya, digging through comments on older sex ed vids.

"shojo" and "doutei" can double as virginity itself, as in losing ones virginity: 処女を失う、童貞を失う、処女喪失、童貞喪失。 The first two are closer to what people would say, and the last two are closer to terms for the act. The last two are also what would show up as categories on porn sites.

  • After talking about virgins in my last response to your comment, I realize I forgot all about oppai. Shame on me!

Oppai is not particularly vulgar, nope. Because of it's lack of obscenity, It's closer to "breasts" than "tits".

  • im watching these backwards it seems...hehe

  • I'm so glad I watched this video. I'm planning a trip to Japan, and these are the exact topics I'll need to discuss. I really expect them to come up in everyday conversations. o.O

  • LOL! Hey, Lisa! Next month will do the basic stuff. Are you really planning to come here, btw?

  • Hey, where'd my other comment go? No I won't be in Japan. I was just being a smart alec. But I'm trying to organize a gathering here. I left you a comment on the Gatherings site.

  • Cant wait for ep 35..lol forgive me if there is one..just going through it all now! But J4M-35 would be James..lol

  • chinko is censored aswell

I was forgetting to mention a joke I know. You know what happens if you mix a chestnut and a squirrel? It gives 栗と栗鼠 which is read くりとりす (kuritorisu).

  • you are such a chitsu. is that a good word?

  • Naw, doesn't work as an insult. It's strictly a medical term. It's like calling someone a uvula.

  • I'm offended.

  • Very good lesson again.

But all so clinical. Are you going to teach us to talk dirty or whisper sweet nothings into someone's ear?

  • First, no. That's not what this series about.

Second, look back at lesson one. All the fancy euphemisms are entirely unnecessary. Just knowing the basics like Lick My Cock will get you a lot further than any silly analogies to snakes.

Third, hopefully what I can do is give you the tools to put together your own sweet nothings.

  • 'Lick my cock'? I don't think I've ever actually tried that one before. I might try and use it next time I go out for a night in London! haha

  • With the right lady (or lad, whatever your preference) at the right time, can work wonders.

  • These are really useful in my Japanese class. Since 99% if the people in there are manko or chin-chin. *sigh*

    Great series though :)

  • all these sex ed vids are making me so hot and sweaty...

  • Me too. Iku, Iku, Iku, Iku, IKU, IKU, IKKKKKUUUUUU!!!

    Haha

  • They imported the word for clitoris??? roflol

  • Yes, before that time Japanese men had never even seen a clitoris. xD

  • hehe I know right? roflol

  • Interesting question. Searched wikipedia, and yep there actually is a native Japanese word for it -- 陰核 / inkaku -- but I've never heard it used. More like an obscure medical term now.

  • Ah, that's interesting. Thanks. ;)

  • Doing a great job on this series.

  • ok.....maybe im a complete noob wtf is hymen

  • roflol A barrier over the vagina that almost all girls have. When any mammal develops as a fetus, there's usually a cover over any opening, eyes, nose, mouth. It keeps fluid out of the opening in the womb. The hymen is essentially a leftover from that which remains usually until a girl has sex for the first time.

  • Boin & chichi should be in next lesson

  • Boin is in a later lesson. Chichi, I left out. Heck, there's lots of words which seem obvious in retrospect, way too many to fit into lessons for morons.

Chichi comes closer to tits in terms of the sense of the word, kind of like oppai is closer to breasts and chinko is closer to dick.

  • 巨乳 - "kyonyuu!" - is one way to say large breasts.

  • and Boin :P

  • What is the word for "husband" and the word for "wife"? Boring questions, I know! I liked the title--Scratch-n-Sniff :)

  • i can answer those for you :)

Tsuma, Kanai & Okusan are wife..Tsuma is general word, kanai is bad (technically means "in the house"), and Okusan is very polite, and used also to refer to other wives..Shujin = husband (technically Lord/Master..bad i know)..and Goshujin refers to other husbands..hoped that helped

  • Yup, Brando nailed it on the head.

Interesting story from when I was in college still learning Japanese. I was outside the language building with a bunch of the Japanese teachers nearby. A dog runs up to play, no sign of the dog's master around. Teacher's start wondering aloud, where's the dog's goshujin? "Husband?" Had to think about that one before I realized the literal meaning of goshujin: Master.

That's why when you go to maid cafes, they greet you as goshujinsama.

  • Thanks! I am DEFINITELY "okusan" :) Grazie mille :) I am in Italy--trying hard to learn Italian--these Japanese vlogs are fun to watch!

  • "In terms of weight" lol

  • Yep. Every language has its medical terms and its low brow slang.

  • lmao that reminds me of one of the too long in japan jokes

You know you've been in japan too long if you cant stop laughing at the fairy tale line of "Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin"

  • It's the other way around, actually. Live here too long and you don't notice puns like that anymore. It's like there's a butter zone when you've lived here long enough to know the language but not long enough to have developed an immunity to puns.

  • Ha. Enjoyable video. Taking notes.

  • Yay! More -very important- stuff! :D (They should really teach useful stuff like this in school)

  • Actually, I recall seeing puppets on a midday kids show saying "kuso" - it seems there is no hangup on saying that word, just describing disabled people and body parts.

Props for getting the unbroadcastable vocab out. And funnily enough, I've never had cause to use hymen before. I'll make it a mission to try to use it in the coming week...

    Peace

  • Oh, hymen's a very important word to know in case you encounter virgins. :-D
