I think you both are right; Tori is known for her symbolism, metaphor, and layers of meaning. Tori has spoken about who Marianne Curtis symbolized to her. When we take Marianne into the context of the Boys For Pele framework, Marianne represents this girl, but also not only this physical girl but an archetypal spirit of untainted girlhood. She lives on and Tori speaks about how she visits her, a girl that did not kill herself but was killed by society in spirit.

I actually thought that was quite touching and I believe Tori did too. Just the way he said it gives me chills...he said it so simply and respectful. He didn't shout it and he didn't seem pompous about it and you can tell by Tori's reaction that he said it all. That's why she just nodded and stood quiet.
