  • I love her voice and it's fun to rediscover her talent and performances through Youtube...thanks for sharing...I am currently reading 'Dream a little dream of me...the life of 'Mama' Cass Elliot written by Eddi Fiegel...i recommend it to all of her fans...it is very well written and researched...lots of detail about her personal and musical life...her many friendships in and out of the entertainment business...you can probably find it on line...i just wanted to share that with her fans.

  • Even though I grew up during her era I never realized what a strong and beautiful voice she had.

  • the Mamas and Papas would not have been had there not been Cass Elliot

  • @jhankri It would have been the Mama and the Papas and that just sounds silly. :)

  • What a wonderful voice I never knew her but I miss her already.

  • WoW! I never knew she did this song, great version, terrible loss for all of us.

  • Never ever heard much of her music...but now, I'm in love!

  • No female singer today could sing like she did. The best female voice ever.

  • Thanks so much for posting this great rendition.

Also, your comments on Cass' musical background is interesting. She really had influences many of her generation didn't. If she had lived, she would have had a long career, given that she was such a talented interpreter of timeless songs.

A question- I don't know her work all that well. What solo album(s) of hers would you recommend?

    Again, thanks, Christopher.

  • Hi, thanks for your comment :)

I would recommend you to hear Cass's first RCA solo album "Cass Elliot - 1972". I also like her album with Dave Mason, and her very first one, Dream A Little Dream of Me.

  • @christopher60s Thank you this is very nice and good quality.

  • wonderful wonderful wonderful....She was outstanding!

  • A beautiful lady with an awesome voice.

  • she was pure magic!! Amazing Talent!!! So sad we lost her so young!! RIP You were a beautiful soul!!!

  • mama cass is pretty solid

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I never got a chance to see this TV special when it originally aired. Do you possibly have video of her singing it? So many singers have done this song, but I feel that Mama Cass' version is one of the best, with her bell-like voice . . .

  • Unfortunetly, "Don't Call Me Mama anymore" was never realeased in DVD format. But it's not said that it will never show up. There's some speech about it :)

  • @christopher60s I hope so because I'd buy it!

  • Oh good! Taddy hasn't unleashed his terror on this song yet! This is undoubtedly one of Cass's best (though I say that about all of her songs). What a voice!

  • GladysCass,

This is a song worthy of the The Devine Cass, unlike that shclock on "the road" album. I love the 1st RCA and solo Dunhill albums too. Cass was famous for knocking lousy songs herself, and she was probably to high to realize how bad most of those songs were. She should have been singing more songs by Leah, Janis Ian , Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, John Sebastian etc or standards like this. Her singing on that ablum is great though.

    love,

    ArethaBaez

  • i wish i could have been born in this time era i love her too bad she died from a heart attack

  • Absolutely beautiful Chris thankyou so much for posting this it's my favourite song of Cass's Just love it :)

  • Christopher, I have been listening to all your Cass stuff the last couple of days, What an amazing talent. I want to say Thank you for taking me back to a simpler time.

  • Thank you so much for this video, I'm sorry for the delay in my comment, but I have had a broken computer and just got a new one. This was a lovely song to reunite me with YouTube :)
