The only reason YT added the audio preview feature was that the comments rating feature added earlier would become the second most useless feature on YT. I must say that they have succeeded.

the comment rating feature was created so that if a person gets more than i think 8 thumbs down, their comments won't appear on the comment box, or at least it minimizes it thus sparing peoples time reading pointless comments..

i have found it useful to check out spelling and grammar errors.i dont understand why people want to spend their time complaining about this great FREE site that constantly has added features.why not do a video about what you like,like the fact we can upload larger files and hdv videos.thats whats important to me, not these tiny issues.i can see why the YT management doesn't pay any attention to you.its like complaining that the new leather coat you were given doesnt have silver buttons.sob.

There's only two reason they added it. First is the obvious. A hope that once haters sound how ignorant they sound, they wont post. And the second possibility, is so some coder at YT can pad his resume.

Another possible explanation is the technology to do it was included in the properties of some company Google bought out, and they figured why not use it for something. Test how well it handles under a high traffic site.

Alright, here's my take on the audio preview. YouTube is doing it's "LIVE" thingie. I think they will be ushering in a live version of YouTube, similar to blogtv or stickam. The audio preview might be a feature for that. Like, if you are broadcasting live, your comments are read to you in that stupid robot voice, and so the preview is there to help the commenter to be clear? Or something? I gotta be close, though.

I read xkcd so I figured this out right away, but if I didn't, this video would have been helpful.

One of the problems I have with it is that in my (it cut out on the my) long posts it stops reading partway through.

My other problem is that it often thinks words are abbreviations and reads out what it thinks the un-abrreviated version is. So if I want to tell Al he did a good video, the audio preview says that Alabama made a good video.

I don't think it will defer the "haters". Nice try though youtube. I enjoy the feature and it helps with editing comments because they cannot be deleted by the poster ever. When you're typing fast there could be something you missed.

"hense" is spelled hence and is synonymous with the word "therefore".

"youtubes" should be "YouTube's" and "most unusual newest" is just bad grammar.

Since you are an Australian it is understandable that you have some difficulty with a foreign language like English.

Everyone on YouTube's global site that uses English as a second language will benefit from the Audio Preview feature.

I worked for a company in Austin, Tx. that had about 500 employees. We would report bugs and when they tried to fix them they would create 5 more bugs. A company that small has no excuse for having such an inept IT department I would be interested in what Google with their huge budget uses an excuse for their fuck ups.

I wasn't joking about it I once had a classmate at University who was blind but could still use a computer as good as anyone else using a specially designed keyboard and push to talk capabilities, I never saw him use a mouse.

Audio preview is rubbish! You can hardly hear clearly what it says for it to be practical, and I keep on pressing it by mistake instead of pressing 'post comment'. Good concept, but I wish the button was moved out of the way a bit.

Actually it did break something at first,

when it first appeared it screwed up the comment system making it impossible to make a post on the "view all comments page". It's fixed now though.
