The anime only had a limited budget as you can see by the animation quality alone, plus Miura takes A LONG TIME to release his volumes, which means they had no ides what would happen after the Eclipse. And the series ain't even coming to a close as of yet.
@SilverDragonXXVIII The budget one thing, but also Muira was disappointed how they cut off characters, whole arcs and changed others(for example a whole arc where Guts fights a count-apostle is missing, Puck is missing, the Wild Dog's commander fight with Guts is missing - he was the first apostle Guts fights one on one and defeats and much more), cause of all the missing parts and characters there was no way really to continue the story. Anyway there are new Berserk series in the making now.
Thank you so much, I am insanely glad I read the manga befre watching the anime simply so I didn't think this was the end of things. That you managed to make that horrific dead end of horror funny at least a little is something I am very greatful for, a tad less scarring this way.

What made me cry buckets was Judeau's death and the fact that Casca was not only raped repeatedly (by nearly-dead Griffith, that was more just awkwardness then rape maybe, and then demon-Griffith) but she went back into a childlike state and has no memory and on top of that is pregnant with a bastard demon child. I wonder how much of the manga I ruined for other viewers....

Haha that is right and funny about skull knight being a deus es machina, (for those unfamiliar with the term its the "god in the machine" a plot device since ancient times where at the very last minute a character or literally a god cruzes up and snags you out of your predicament)

It was INCREDIBLY anti-climatic due to the sheer lack of anything resembling a conclusion!! As for Berserk itself, for all the gore and tragedy, it came off as a rather dry show.

What made me cry buckets was Judeau's death and the fact that Casca was not only raped repeatedly (by nearly-dead Griffith, that was more just awkwardness then rape maybe, and then demon-Griffith) but she went back into a childlike state and has no memory and on top of that is pregnant with a bastard demon child. I wonder how much of the manga I ruined for other viewers....

Griffith's the only one who turned evil; the original Hawks were brutally slaughtered, leaving Guts to traverse alone with an annoying fairy, meet up with some high ranked female official, whose butler/companion is actually her half-brother, a little girl-mage, her traveling fairy, and a annoying little street punk.

You know, I stopped watching any type of anime after Evangelion because I hated how these types of series end. I had a friend suggest to me the Berserk series with highest regard... and he yapped on about it for days before wearing me down and getting to watch it. So, me being the hater, I watched it, telling myself how wack this was. Goddamn I was wrong.
Great series, but the ending is still BS.

I believe the idea of evil, in order create his own pawn (Griffith) & alter his lineage, the time period and events to perfectly set him up to become a king...he has to accept the risk that creates the opposite force..someone he has NO control over..Guts. who has an excess of free will, the fish who can't change the flow of the stream..but can jump in and out of it..

Haha that is right and funny about skull knight being a deus es machina, (for those unfamiliar with the term its the "god in the machine" a plot device since ancient times where at the very last minute a character or literally a god cruzes up and snags you out of your predicament)
but thats what guts and he ARE ..are those people who aren't in the flow of fate, yet are at the same time..(guts baby being the vessel for griffiths rebirth, which i think is going to be a HUGE plot point)

You cried at the end of Berserk? Seriously? Really? You are kidding, right? The ending can only be considered an ending because nothing more was made! It was INCREDIBLY anti-climatic due to the sheer lack of anything resembling a conclusion!! As for Berserk itself, for all the gore and tragedy, it came off as a rather dry show.

I didn't cry at the end of Berserker. I was actually thoroughly pissed off for a day and a half. I had a punching bag outside that I ripped off its chain I hit it so hard. My friend who doesn't watch it thought it was dumb to get mad at a TV show, but it PISSED ME OFF!!!

First was Chapter 12 from Watchmen. A moment that brutally slaughtered all of the minor characters and a major one.

the end of The First Generation in Fire Emblem IV. Hbi2k, have you ever heard of Fire Emblem? It's a tactical RPG made By Nintendo. Number IV was actually a bit like Berserk when it came to the setting, and, like Berserk, they actually slaughter the ENTIRE CAST mid way through the game. INCLUDING MAIN CHARACTER.
