At least they admit they're horrible. All these "Australian" accents to hear in American movies are always done by washed up British actors, and so other Americans and Brits think that Australians sound British.

I think the mistake was choosing "You've been gone a long time" as the phrase - I can't imagine the average Aussie saying it - we'd probably say something like "You've been gone a while" and perhaps tack on a "haven't ya?" depending on the personality.
