Worst ass-kissing interview of a controversial figure I've ever seen. Even Charlie Rose challenged Moyers on the white-washing tone of this interview. This was a calculated attempt by a liberal (Moyers) to help another liberal (Wright) to resurrect his (deservedly tarnished) reputation. It's classic Moyers.

It's weird, to me, that he is so negative. Anyone with half a brain knows that slavery and the lack of black civil rights was bullshit. It's common knowledge. Why does this guy have to constantly remind us? I feel Conservatives EMBRACE black leadership. They have to be CONSERVATIVE first. Obama wants gay marriage, he's pro-choice, wants to raise taxes, and doesn't want domestic drilling. Those are liberal values. Alan Keyes is a good example of a black conservative.

Let us cut to the facts, black people have been marganilised for as long as history has been recorded. It is so unfartunate taht the so called western countries saw nothing wrong with the system of government in South Africa and the then Rhodesia and their treatment of the black people. Sanctions would be counterproductive for the blacks at that time.

Now in the present time this same group of countries think it is good to have sanctions on Zimbabwe, Cuba and a number of other countries.

As a black person I understand his anger - but I also (like most black people I know) do not agree with the passion of his anger sometimes - funny thing is that as blacks we are welcoming to others while being excluded - conservatives who fear that "minorities" are displacing them - I have given to the 700 Club since highschool in 1979 but I don't agree with a lot that Pat Robertson says - I heard Barbara Walters say Woopie was not white and pure but they love her - I could call that racist -

hey it came out that all those little sound bites were all a lie. Reverend Wright was quoting a U.S. ambassador who appeared on Fox news.

If you're curious at all look up the word BLOWBACK, it is a very real word. It is an espionage word and describes exactly what Reverend Wright was talking about. In fact you're not supposed to know about blowback. The very definition of the word means that you are kept ignorant and surprised by blowback because you don't know where it came from.

now that there is the internet - they feel free to speak out without anyone knowing who they are - when people say racism is far less today - I say look at the comments on the internet - all those people who were lynching - bombing - beating kids at lunch counters - are still alive or have had kids they raised - they are our Doctors - Policemen - co-workers - neighbors - polititians - bosses - so how much has changed?

Bill Moyer's interview of Rev. Wright shows how low the press (if you can call it that) will go to prop up their candidate. Rev. Wright is a black supremacist, and preaches that blacks are the supreme race. He denounces whites and the rich for oppressing the black culture, but lives and breathes in the white amenities. If he's such a great black man, why is he going to retire to a 1.6 million $ house in a gated "white" community, and has $10M in a line of credit? He a bigot,racist demagogue.

I, like many blacks, do not agree with everything he says, but to call him a supremacist is ridiculous. To tell blacks that they should be proud to be black, after years of being told it was not a good thing is not supremacy. I still hear people on TV (not racist), describe someone with blond hair and blue eyes, as having the all american look. How do you think people who don't look like that feel. These are not racists saying this, they have been "educated" to think this is normal.

It just fascinates me that people on both sides get so much attention. I see comments earlier about a black Jesus to oppose the racism that guided the shaping of current Christian view of those times...saying that he was black or white is rediculous - he was a jew from the middle east, so that is what he would look like - like the previous poster commented Ron Paul said the same thing about 911 no to mention Pat Robinsons words about Americans being punished by god for voting a certain way

Egyptians were black dark skin? - where do you get this information? I have studied the egyptian culture since I was in high school, 28 years ago. I was fascinated by them. I knew a Egyptian kid, who lived in my neighborhood that was mostly black. I am black. We talked about how Elizabeth Taylor played Cleopatra, and how riduculous it was. Later on in College I visited his home land, to meet the people. I am speaking not from a book or what someone told me, from direct relationships and fact

If you want to get a true representation of what Egyptians looked like - look at the paintings - I have seen them up close and in the many volumes I have about them - they were just like black Americans in the US a mixture of shades (ours came from the relationships with slave owners) they ruled much of the area - look at the movie Nativity Story - this represented what Jews would have looked like in that time - Joseph and Mary would have a hard time in an airport if you know what I mean

I only said that because my mum is egyptian, The arabs crossed over to africa the whole of africa started of with black people with very dark skin, but mixing of races creates what we say blacks have many shades, the mixing goes centuries decades. my dad is from the southern part of africa most of his side of the family are very dark, i'm dark skin my brother is very light skin his baby mother is very light skin, but their child is dark skin the light skin gene comes from arab or caucasian

So I see you understand, unlike many that asume, you have first hand knowledge. I agree that during different times in Egypt darker skin was the majority, and lighter skin at times, not Akhenaten, (like Eddie Murphy), then Cleopatra (more like Haley Berry) - So many do not even know the many different people in Africa - Ethiopians, Somalians, Nigerians all look different, some with tight curly hair some with straight curls. It's part of a wider liberationist theology - Jesus on the side of the little person - that was also a big movement in South and Middle American Catholicism in the 1960's. There's nothing sinister about it - though you can argue against it on theological grounds, obviously. The last two popes have been very down on it in a South and Middle American context.

When I look and listen to Rev Wright I don't see a racist or hate monger. I see a pastor who is committed to healing the deep scars of the legacy of slavery. Who cannot understand that the black community is still coping with slavery just cannot or refuse to accept that slavery has made some deep scars and Rev Wright and others like him should be praised for trying to up lift.
