@Mark08tl Actually Antoine uses a thumb pick, and an acrylic overlay on his fingers. I tried the acrylic overlay it's hard to get used to because it makes your nails so thick. Plus you have to bring your guitar into the salon to prove to the hot little asian girls working there that there is a reason other than being a touch soft for getting your nails done lol... Which is worth the price of admission right there if you ask me.

@ravnitrogue Like any musician, his sound is a combination of gear and technique. Its plenty possible to get harmonics like that without using a mic. Part of the "loudness" of harmonics you are hearing from him is probably due to his rockin nails. Try playing 7th fret harmonics with your fingers (assuming you have less than great nails) vs. say a flat pick....His nails are like having perfect picks on every finger. Plus...hes Antoine Freak'in Dufoure...nuff said. ;-)

@ravnitrogue I was that way once too...until the want for better tone out weighed the weirdness of long nails ;-).  Plus it ends up being a great conversation starter. I dont have a great guitar either, but it suits my needs for now. It can really help a mid range guitar to take it to luthier and have it setup properly. And there are small upgrades you can do to improve tone and get the most out of your basic guitar.
