Hi, I'm connecting my Yamaha DTXplorer to MacBook Pro via MIDI cable, everything works except the kick and the snare, they give no sound at all.. Please help! Appreciated!
hi there i have the yamaha dtxplorer and i use an imac.I've tried using midi to usb cable to record thedrums on garageband which doesn't seem to work for me.can you help me out?
I am a complete noob at recording music. I have the DTXPRESS 4 Yamaha electric drum set, and I want to record an audio file to have on my computer. I know you made a tutorial for this, but I was wondering if you could maybe give a quick step-by-step? I'm very new to this!
@Prasetyaification. To answer your question, there are two different ways that you can record out of the yamaha dtxpress. You can record the drums as audio, by connecting the L/R outputs on the back of your electric drum module to inputs on your interface (using 1/4 inch cables).
You can also record your drums as MIDI as well (if your interface has a MIDI input), by connecting the MIDI output on the back of your drum module to the MIDI input on your interface...
On a side note, if you would prefer to record your drums as MIDI, but the interface you are using doesn't have a MIDI input, many companies such as M-Audio have made cable adapters that allow you to connect your MIDI output to a USB slot on your computer. Check out the M-Audio Uno, as Dabog083 mentioned if this is the situation that you're in.
I'm still recording my drum sound from the speakers, so the drums do not sound good. you can see my videos on my channel.
whether the left and right outputs of the modules that are on the yamaha connect to the computer?
or maybe you could make a video on youtube about how to record a yamaha dtxpress with the computer? (Show cables that connect the module to a computer)
Yes. That means that your electric kit only sends MIDI information, as opposed to being able to receive MIDI info as well. Install the M-Audio drivers and connect from the MIDI out on your electric drum kit to the USB port of your computer. Haven't personally used this interface so check the manual in case it needs any special setup and you should be good to go.
can I use a MIDI to USB, meaning, I plug the midi in the midi out of my drum brain (yamaha dtxpress IVF) and plug in the usb into my mac's usb port? please answer
@jjpp1093 Thanks for the great question. This is totally possible, M-Audio actually makes a product (M-Audio Uno-MIDI Adapter) which allows you to do exactly what you're hoping to get accomplished, I'll send you a link to the device in your profile. When using this device, or any other device like this one you will then be able to use your drum tracks the same way as you would with any other midi track. Cheers.
this is the worst tutorial i have ever watched. thank god it was only 2 minutes.

my electric kit only has one MIDI out port, could I still use the M-Audio Uno adapter to record with it? if so, how? thanks!
