Get her to the Met ASAP. I saw her in NYC with Eve Q. + OONY in Sonnambula @ Carnegie and she was super. Top notes to spare, nice legato and a sizable voice. Her Covent Garden debut was 9/7/09 in Linda di Chamonix...recording to be released 2010 I believe. A great young find for opera.

I'm proud to say that I met her during my work experience placement at the Vancouver Opera for school. I watched a all rehearsals following the opening night of Rigoletto and interviewed a lot of the cast and this included Ms. Gutierrez. I remember that she was a very, very sweet lady and she is amazingly talented. Seeing her perform live totally surpasses any youtube video of her. I would very much recommend watching a live performance by her; she's amazing, with an amazing personality.

I had the honor of seeing Ms. Gutierrez sing Elvira in Seattle Opera's production of I Puritani, and was able to meet her backstage. She is truly an astounding singer. Her technique is mind blowing, and reminds me of Joan Sutherland's. Her voice has so many beautiful colors, and she sings every one with absolute splendor.

I have rarely heard such a deeply felt and bel canto interpretation especially among recent singers. Her Sonnambula is also quite exciting. I hope she won't sing too much too fast and burn out like so many young singers. Brava

Very nice surprise. The middle voice is full, the whole voice has weight, the top notes are secure and easy. She does scoop or slide into some top notes, and can come up slightly flat if she's not careful. Real potential in many roles....not just coloratura. Early Verdi would likely suit her.....Trovatore or I Masniadieri....would love to her hear sing "Oh, Quante Volte"...Guilietta as well.

What a voice!! That IS a coloratura soprano: no shrillness, no harshness. She's got a wonderful voice, which I think is more in the lyric fach, but suits the lighter roles as well thanks to her superb technique. I think she'd be even more amazing in heavier lyric coloratura roles, because it's a very full, rich and velvety timbre, with a somewhat "heavy" tone (despite her heavenly pianissimi!). Best of all, she's also got a meaningful phrasing, a great legato and real sensibility to the melody!
