As much as I admire Dr Paul, his understanding of the 2nd is incorrect here. If the 2nd is a civil right, then indeed since the passage of the 14th the Federal government has a role in protecting it (same as protecting any other civil liberty). His position is fine for those of you who live in states with a 2nd in your State Constitution, but 6 states don't have it including CA. CA could have banned everything until the recent McDonald decision began to restrain the state on limiting that right.

I'm history teacher and I learned that when the Roman Empire was at their top they started killing christians for reasons like the Americans have today for killing moslims. When they killed 5 christians, they were replaced by 10 new (pissed of) christians. In the end the Romans had to stop killing them because the most of the people became christians.
