hey murphey, i enjoyed the vid. you proved that you can live off the land with a smoothbore if you are willing to stalk. i did the finish on the pistol ive been working on. its stunning. of course, i decided to just get shorter lock bolts. after that. she is done. im not too sure about test firing, but then again. i have all the cleaning tools. so maybe a vid on that.
@murpheysmuskets do you think the slower method of patched ball makes a better difference. i would feel relatively safe with a smoothbore up to 100 yards with practice. where do you get your musket balls from?
@mark3smle Yes, a tightly patched round ball will make some difference. Not a lot but some. I cast my own lead now, but I used to get the .715 balls from trackofthewolf
@murpheysmuskets .715 cal ? That's cheating lol. I'm not a "period correct" fanatic but Brits used .69 cal or even .67 cal in order to load quickly as possible...

@mark3smle that would be awesome! And yes smoothbores can be plenty accurate even with paper cartridges. It just takes practice.
