B-A-Y B-A-Y B-A-Y C-I-T-Y WITH AN R-O-DOUBLE LL-E-R-S BAY CITY ROLLERS ARE THE BEST , in those days they were called pop groups now they would have been called boy bands ,prefer them to be called pop group
WE HAD A SCHOOL DISCO THIS WAS BRILLIANT TO ALL YOUNG YOUTH THAT DID,NT HAVE A WORRY IN THE WORLD JUST A GREAT TIME AT WILLIAM HENRY SMITH GREAT MEMORIES NEVILLE CARBINE NORMAN HUNTER PHIL LOWE DEAN LOINS ALAN CHUB PLUS THE WAGSTAFFE BROTHERS TIMHARVEY MICHEAL WHIITAKER
Shit! I was a T.Rex hippy :0) But had to wear clothes with tartan , becauause it's all that was in the shops. BCR. were absolutly huge. My sister loved 'em , I was into Bolan and it wasn't cool to like what your brothers and sisters liked. OH Shit! I'm 14 again. Hi sis. thanks for plucking my eyebrows, (just incase she reads this comm.) I'm old. Hah! Peace out. Cheesy.
@ooohcheese Personally, I like the music of The Bay City Rollers AND T. Rex. Both groups were hugely popular 'teenybopper' sensations in the 1970's ... although not at the same time. T. Rex's popularity peaked in 1971/72 ...... whereas 'Rollermania' reached its height some 3 years later - in 1974/75.
By the time the Rollers had established themselves as the biggest and most popular 'teenybopper' band in Great Britain, the popularity of Marc Bolan & T. Rex was very much on the wane.
@ooohcheese [Continuing on from my previous 'post' about The Bay City Rollers and T. Rex]: A great many of Bolan's fans (probably several hundred thousand of them) deserted him in 1973 and '74 ... and no doubt a substantial percentage of those fans switched their allegiances, as it were, from T. Rex to The Rollers. All credit to you for remaining loyal to Bolan and his band at a time when it was considered much more fashionable and 'cool' to did the music of the tartan teen sensations from
@ooohcheese [Continuing on from my previous 'posts' about The Bay City Rollers and T. Rex]: Edinburgh.
Marc Bolan (God rest his soul) was an immensely talented man, and in the opinion of many knowledgeable pop/rock pundits and historians, he invented glam rock.
As I said in one of my previous posts, I like the music of T. Rex AND The Bay City Rollers. Both groups made a string of excellent singles - and indeed albums - in the 1970's.
@angeladarlin Oxford Bags......shit! Don't forget Loafers and Kipper shoes. Lumberjack Benshermans. 2 tone stay press The BBC and other so called fashioniters havn't got a clue. Some bugger help me I'm Supposed to be a biker ! :0). I'm shutting up now . Cheesy.
I liked this band from Scotland...only thing is I didn't think it was appropriate that they'd be seen wearing kilts as a pop band...a punk band perhaps. All in all, they dressed fairly sharp, in most cases suited in white slacks, which can turn anybody's head around if worn snug, on the right fella...and the Bay City Rollers fit that description, but I have to wonder if they were all straight up & narrow. It's alot easier to live the life you were meant to take on..I only wish I cold have.THX
@Ezdduf4kuZ yes they dressed in an appealing manner, I was a fan of theirs as I was to all Disco music. My fav by them was rock and roll love letter, followed by saturday night, all great dance music...only kc & the sunshine band topped them, but the majority of disco followers with disagree with my opinion as there was kool & the gang, spinners & barry white. Anyway Ezssuf.., their all straight on until proven otherwise, keep your chin up!
Bay City Rollers are awesome, my favorite is "saturday night"
#S A T U R D A Y, S A T U R D A Y.........

my mum requested this song, so i played it for her, she sang along, clapped her hands at the right time, and said something about 'wanting a tartan scarf' lol
