@FatherTuck you can fire a weapon as soon as you can switch to it; you have to wait for your current gun to "reload" before you can switch to another weapon, so you can't change weapons immediately after firing a rail or the rocket launcher. the gauntlet is always "loaded" and as such you can change from it instantly. i think the only real benefit gained by running around with the gauntlet is hiding what weapon you're gonna whip out (other than looking awesome, of course).

I think quake is harder then CS. Quake started to die when new fans couldn't be bothered learning the games mechanics, i play CS for the first time and am better then nooby.

You cant compair the two games, they both have different mechanics. In terms of being a complete nobody and taking up one of the games then yeah, cs is probably your best bet because you can hide behind 4 other players where as quake your just going to get slapped in duels and never "win". but in cs you can still win some scrimmages off the back of others.

I don't get the whole argument of CS vs Quake. In quake I think there's a much higher personal skill level, in CS one person can't be good at end game play.. A whole team of people have to be good.

@bosstanaka88 you would be right, Quake 3 (which is the same game as this, just watch it on youtube) and Unreal Tournament were released only a couple days from each other. The Quake series pre-dates the Unreal series by a couple years, but their was a rivalry between Epic and Id (guys who made Unreal and Quake.) so you are right, it does look alot like unreal because the guys who made Unreal were very inspired by Quake:)

I was mediocre at Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3 even though I played them for a long time. BF2 is absurdly easy compared to those games. No fast reaction time required, no 1 on 1, no random bombing deaths, have to use sound location, predict where the enemy is going, rocket jumping, and strafe jumping ...none of this BF2 has. I was leader in BF2 every game. I might have won maybe 4 or 5 quake matches in my life.

its a different type of aim, in quake you just have to hit, in CS you have to hit the fucking head and control your movement to stand completely still, then the team aspect is really big, its fucking hard to control a 5 man team to work effective, but in quake its fucking hard to time items and stuff, in the end u play against other humans, who have the same easy and hard parts of the game like you and ALL depends on skill (+some luck) CS may be easyer to learn, but fucking hard to master too.

@Cheesebla Let me just tell you something. I've been playing Counter Strike for 9 years, I've been to many tournaments and scrimmed for longer than you will probably ever scrim. I've been playing all of the Quake series for about 5 years as well (qw, q2, q3, ql), and I feel like you have the misconception that Quake is 1v1 only. You have modes like CTF (Mostly 4v4) and TDM (2v2 or 4v4), which probably, require much more skill and teamplay than what CS and any other FPS in existence ever will.
