Yeah...Republic Of China on Taiwan...confusing I know. The ROC government was formed in 1911 in mainland China. The Chinese nationalists (KMT/Kuomintang) and the Chinese communists went at it hammer and tongs once again after the defeat of the Japanese in '45. The KMT lost the war in '49 and took their govt. to Taiwan; hence the ROC on Taiwan, and not to be confused with the Pepole's Republic of China (PRC) in mainland China.

Has to have been the best fireworks display anywhere on the planet last night - and considering this is not a panoramic view of the Taipei skyline which was also lit up by pyrotechnics on a very grand scale!
